Shonuff, the Mrs. was there and running the kitchen. Poboys were the specialty and we went native. Crawfish was not in season, but they had fresh crab, and the GF ordered shrimp. This is a local joint however, so the shrimp was in a patty form. Lots of shrimp, but it was chopped up and formed into a crispy fritter. Both were delicious. We crushed those giant poboys, enjoyed a quiet evening camping on the beach, and woke up to the sound of shrimp boats heading out bright and early. Now, A poboy is just a big sandwich on a french roll. Simplicity is the key, but what makes a great poyboy is fresh ingredients. To this day, I have not had a poyboy like Richards makes. I dare say, it's worth a drive from New Orleans just to have one. Best Thanksgiving dinner yet, and it's been over 10 years.

One menu offered "all-white" as an option. I asked the clerk if a two-piece was a wing and a breast, or what. She answered, "We only do all-white on Sundays because that's when we cook the breasts." Uh, ok... wait... what? I mentioned that the sign on the door (two signs, actually) said they are closed on Sundays. She replied that they were, in fact, open seven days a week. So I can't promise you that you can get white-meat fried chicken; I can't promise you can get it on Sunday. But I can promise you will love it because it's REALLY good!

Staff was friendly - even during odd hours of the night - "You have no toiletries?" (Clearly she knew we were tourists.) We explained the whole missing bags thing to clear that up. They had everything we needed - clothes included - because who knows how long before our bags get delivered! Prices were reasonable - none of the tourists rates some places charge. What made it better is that it was only a couple of blocks away from our hotel. We returned a couple more times during the week for more basic stuff - mostly snacks, water and other rehydrating drinks. What I mostly appreciated is how conveniently located it is.
