They cut my neighbors White Pine down and in the process lowering it hit the Maple Tree which crashed into the slate roof. This May the owner came out to survey the work we needed done. A few branches here and there but the main issue was a dead maple. I just wanted the top cut off, leaving the trunk for wildlife. "No problem be back in two weeks". When his crew returned the could not cut the top of the dead tree as there wasn't access with their truck. The owner assumed they could reach it from behind the property. Disappointing, but understandable. Than when asked the price it was only 20% less and in cash! Always paid by check. Regardless 80%+ was the tree they could not do the work for. We meet in the middle. Less than two weeks later his crew was back on my street. One of his guys pulled out a chainsaw and cut all the lower branches of the Oak in front of my house so he could park and hug the curb comfortably! What the hell! I thought maybe he had a contract for the town at first, but he said no its a town tree and branches were to low. It was only so he could park! He is supposed to care for trees. Two weeks ago when we were hit by severe thunderstorms over the 4th weekend and had a large branch dangling over the roof I still called Happy right away. Never heard back. Never. Not even days later. This is not the way to do business. Not professional at all. Like I said, it never used to be like this. Good news we found an excellent new arborist who we like and most of all is honest. When I needed to find a new arborist, there were plenty. Beware of Happy Tree Service! My wife witnessed one of the workers walk up to and inspect the truck immediately afterward. When I contacted the owner to discuss the damage, he refused to take responsibility or offer any compensation, including additional work to offset the damage. The damage occurred during active cutting, and no effort was made to acknowledge or take ownership of it. The work was completed, but the refusal to address damage caused during the job was disappointing.
