Worst Doctor's Office I've Ever Visited I've been trying to get treatment for my severe back issues for months now, and this doctor's office has made it nearly impossible. They are unreachable 90% of the time--good luck getting anyone to answer the phone or getting an appointment without multiple rounds of phone tag. When I finally do get through, they either tell me there are no appointments available or send me to specialists that aren't even in my insurance network. It's beyond frustrating that they don't verify coverage beforehand, causing a huge runaround with zero results. Prescriptions are another nightmare. They call them in to random pharmacies without checking if the medication is in stock. I've waited a full week at times before they'll try another location--only for the same problem to happen again. If you value your time, your sanity, and your health, avoid this place. I've been stuck dealing with their endless incompetence instead of getting the help I desperately need for my back. Find a practice that actually cares about its patients, because this one certainly doesn't. read more

This office is run horribly -- it seems like their main method of dealing with patients is to ignore them, cancel appointments, and give them the runaround until find another doctor or die. It took me three months to make an appointment with Dr Mora, which they then canceled two days before and didn't leave a voicemail aboout why. I tried to call them every day throughout the week, and when I finally got someone to call back, they told me it'd take another three months to make an appointment. When I pointed out I'd be waiting six months total, their solution was to find a new doctor -- so I did. read more

Mora is the worst so-called doctor I have ever had the misfortune to be assigned to. I had been assigned to him for at least one year and saw him zero times. And I hardly could get an appointment with anyone there at all, having very few appointments with only an ineffectual assistant/nurse. The office staff are as you would expect in LA: lazy, uncaring people who rarely answer the phone. They would purposely offer me appointments for the only day and time of the week that they knew I could not come, Tuesday mornings, and they would not give me any other appointment. This happened more than once. If you are assigned to anyone in this office be sure to call your medical plan to be given another provider or else you will regret it and be wasting your time. read more

Dr. Mora and his office staff are great! There is only 1 staff member who does both front and back office now. Dr. Mora's clinic days are only half day Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and his nurse practitioner sees patients on Thursdays. If you get the voicemail " LEAVE A MESSAGE" Jenny will return your call. As far as availability, yes the appointments can be a bit out, but they do have a cancellation list, and the doctor will work you in if you have a matter that needs immediate attention. Dr. Mora is attentive to your medical needs and considers your input when discussing your medical concerns. I have dealt with Dr. Mora's office for a long time (20+ years) and I honestly believe some of these negative reviews are uncalled for. read more

Dishonest billing practices. I received a surprise bill 2 years after a visit and had no recourse of action to contest it. The office staff was unkind, unwilling to help, and dishonest throughout my entire experience, including recounting false information they claimed I gave. Dr. Mora might be a good doctor, but I'd never know because his staff is utterly incompetent and never returns calls. I couldn't' get in to see Dr. Mora for well over month even though he's supposed to be my primary physician. If I wanted to see someone any sooner, I have to see the nurse practitioner, Carlos. Carlos seemed perfectly capable. The problem seems to be everybody else who works there. Their answering machine promises to call patients back during business hours that day, and if you have called after hours, they say they will call the next business day. They lie; they never do. I have called over 5 times over several weeks without a single call back. I've tried even leaving messages for the extension for test results and prescriptions.... NOTHING! Clearly this doctor is overloaded, and the entire staff is totally and utterly incompetent. If you need medical CARE, you cannot get that here. I left repeated very nice messages that I need replacement medical equipment for breathing, and regardless of the stakes, they still ignore my messages. When they don't get back to you when you say you're having trouble with breathing... they are an utterly irresponsible doctor's office staff. Just because insurance assigns you to this office does not mean you have to stay here. Get a doctor's office who actually cares about you. I have never even been given the opportunity to meet Doctor Mora. He doesn't come by to introduce himself to his new patients. You and I both deserve better than this. read more

Dr Mora is a gem, very kind thoughtful and attentive. You can tell he really cares and is willing to collaborate with what I think is good health care and specialists that I want to see. Five stars for the doctor and one star for the staff, it is nearly impossible to get on the phone with them and when I can there is not an availability for three months. I often am not called back or on hold indefinitely. It's as if I am inconveniencing them by calling. Last time I was there the nurse seemed to have the flu and drew my blood in the most painful way possible, not professional at all. I've been a patient of Dr. Mora more than 4 years ( including my wife & son ) till I had enough of his always late arrivals 1 hr every time. His staff is the worst staff no greetings, no smiles and try to calling in ( good luck if they answer ) what made me do the switch is the referrals to a specialist, it's almost non existent ( meaning I don't receive any letters from global medical care ) or even a phone call from the staff. Dr Mora's been my primary for 15 years or so. Great doctor. Knows my issues. I was hospitalized one time (5 days), and he came by to check in (I had no idea he knew I was there). He has many people to care for, so make appointments ahead of time (make sure you say why you're going in- -tetanus / flu / measles shot, physical, whatever...). Jenny and Stephanie are great too. The doctor is a kind man, does not speak much but seems to care. His staff is another thing, they are rude, mean, and will yell at you. I have heard them yell at each other and the doctor. So unprofessional, one lady looks like she rolled out of bed and came to work. She is a mess, hair greasy and tangled, clothes a mess. Dr. Mora is aloof and showed only slight interest in me, his patient. He performed extra procedures on me (full physical, full blood work) despite the fact that 1. all I wanted was a titer and some vaccinations; 2. he knew I had had a physical and blood work performed at another clinic about a year prior and I showed no signs of needing additional testing; and 3. he knew I was a student (my reason for needing the immunizations) and the costly, superfluous procedures would make a large dent in my check book. The staff was neither friendly nor discourteous, but failed to notify me when my results were in. My total bill (thus far; bills keep rolling in) is currently 3 times as much as it should have been, had I received only the help that I was requesting. I now realize that I should have been assertive and demanded that the extra unneeded work NOT be done. my HMO insurance somehow decided for me that my primary physician would be Dr. Mora so i had no choice but to visit him after i was suffering from allergies for a few months. be aware that there are 2 Mora's at the office building he's located at suite 416. the front desk ladies were helpful in terms of providing me directions to the office and worked through my paperwork quickly however they did not go out of their way to be friendly, welcoming, or provide excellent customer service. dr. mora did seem "aloof" at first however i think this is just how his "default face" is because he was actually very helpful with my allergies. he was interested in my personal life and tried to make a conversation with me - this is always impt to me bc it helps me feel like i can trust my doctor. he was also open with sharing his allergy struggles which gave me insight into mine. lastly, he was patient with answering my questions and explaining all i needed to know about allergies. Parking: dr. mora does not validate with the parking lot next to the building so i had to find street parking. the whole appt took less than 1 hour so metered parking wasnt an issue for me. read more

On the one hand, Dr. Mora is awesome. I really enjoy coming to see him. He's attentive, considerate, knows his stuff, and isn't afraid to level with you. On the other hand, dealing with his office is a gigantic pain. The office hours are fairly limited, and there's been times when the staff was taking 2+ hour lunches everyday. I've left numerous voice mails through the years, but I've never gotten a call back. That said, while the staff is difficult to get ahold of, they're very friendly if you can actually reach a human. They might be slow moving or it's an under staffing issue, I'm not entirely sure. The experience is tough and can be discouraging. Additionally, his appointments are booked far far in advance, so if you're looking for anything sooner than a few weeks to a month, you're probably out of luck. He was on ZocDoc for a while, which made the whole process painless, but seems he's left that service. That all said about the staffing issues, I enjoyed Dr. Mora enough that I stuck with him for many years. So, if you can make your way through the office shenanigans, you might find him to be a great doctor. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Mora for over a decade now. He always fulfills my medical needs and makes me feel at ease. When I can't get a appointment he returns my calls within 24 hours. He is a very busy Dr but now he has a nurse practitioner who can see you right away, which makes it easier to get an appointment. Dr. Mora is worth the wait. Not sure where these negative ratings are coming from, but they did not resembe my experience at all. Dr. Mora was incredibly attentive and spent more time gathering my history and getting details from me than most other doctors I've gone to see. Most of the time, they are in and out. He even came back in when I realized I'd forgotten something, and asked the nurse if he could still see me. Friendly, thorough, and very even tempered in the realm of "doctor-patient opinion balance" Meaning he's very open to what you have to say and will insert his medical opinion where it's appropriate. I have nothing good to say about Dr Mora. It takes them 2 weeks to Simply refill a prescription. If this is an important life-saving medication patients would die before they ever got their refill. You also have to schedule an appointment approximately five to six months in advance which is just not practical for the average human being. Avoid this location at all costs. Additionally last time I was there he had me give a blood and urine sample to be analyzed, but despite my asking multiple times I never got any information about the results. read more

If you doubt (as reasonable person should, I suppose), just call the office and see if: 1. they ever pick up 2. if someone picks up, if they put you on hold 3. if you get put on hold, if your wait is less than 20 minutes 4. or if you get put on hold and they NEVER come back on line 5. if you finally get through and can make an appointment within 45 days 6. if you see the doctor and he agrees to submit a referral request...then see if the office staff ever actually submits them (note: as recommended by a specialist, I've needed to see a surgeon since March of '19...and TWICE after having visited the doctor and reiterated the specialist's requests (which went through my specialist office's channels), my medical group STILL never got any request from Mora's office. 7. PS--the office staff is a nasty bunch if you so much as ask why you have the first appointment of the day and still have to wait 45 minutes to see the doctor (note: this is a regular occurrence) 8. Finally, allow me to say that with the ten or so visits over the past few years, this office is the worst kind of nightmare for people who are trying to take their health seriously. I recently was hospitalized at Olympia Medical Center. My phenomenal Pain Management Physician Dr. Lawrence Miller recommended Dr. Lawrence Mora to take care me during my stay. Dr. Mora is an old school physician. He make a great impression even when you're in agonizing pain. He gives great eye contact introduces himself and take more than 2 minutes getting to know what brought you to hospital and what goal you want to achieve. He is mentally present on every visit. I haven't seen that kind of bedside manner by a physician since the early 90's.. I have been looking for a PCP like Dr. MORA since I moved to Los Angeles in 2002. Now I hope he is accepting new patients for 2018-2019. I build long term relationships with my Treating Physician. Dr. Mora is an excellent, knowledgeable doctor, but working with his staff is impossible. They are slow, cancel a lot, and I have to wait over 4 months on average to get an appointment. I spent 30 minutes on hold today just trying to confirm an appointment. They cancelled it on me and suggested they could squeeze me in over a month later. The front desk is a joke. They don't pick up the phones. They keep you on hold and forget about you. They rush you when you do finally connect with someone.
