I'm not surprised that is place has such negative google reviews. They must have been able to rid…read morethemselves of bad yelp reviews by stating a new account. I wanted to share with all of you the experience my mother had with this shelter. My mom was fleeing from a near by state and La Casa brought her 500 miles from where she was had been living. They housed her for 3 months. She was in a hotel the first month. The minute she arrived in Las Cruces she begged for assistance with stuff related to DV, but they ONLY provided shelter. She appreciated that. But when my mother exited, she was worst off then when she arrived. She met with her case manager each week she was there. And every week with an outside case manager once she left. She abided by all the rules and was constantly doing "intakes" over and over. She often had to refill-out paperwork, because they were claiming to have "lost" the originals. When ever she begged for help or assistance, they would tell her we'll immediately "staff" that. Then she'd wait a week, and they'd still not have any answers for her. She told me that she made friends with several other shelter participates. La Casa claimed to help or assist with "transitional housing" My mother told me that several of the other women (and even men) just returned to their abusers because La Casa did nothing to assist them with housing once they left the shelter. Many just ended up in the LC homeless shelters. She said this (Nubia?) person in housing was the worst. She did the intake, my mom signed the paperwork, and then never heard from this woman again. She never returned my mother's calls or emails. And when my mom tried to follow up with her, crickets. Now how is this helping a woman (or a man) that has experienced DV? My mother is friends with several individuals in the Santa Fe (roundhouse) That's what they call the state legislature in NM. I told her that maybe they need to pull the state funding for the non-profit-until La Casa can show they are really helping DV victims who they take in and are leaving them in better place than when arrived at this organization. My mother's advice: seek help elsewhere in NM if you're a victim of domestic violence.
