Maybe something like: "we get our fair share of suckers, f**k off." I was nothing but kind to these folks, and they treated me with profound disrespect. These guys are doing just fine without your business. I wonder if Mr. Moore, Sr. taught his son to greet customers in this way. If so, shame on him. God willing, he won't have to worry about customers anymore, period. Towed my 2016 Ram eco diesel here after it lost power and caught fire under the hood and leaking diesel pretty bad. It was after midnight on a Wednesday night. I left a message to let them know I'd be there when they opened. Cost me $900 to tow it, and I did so only based on the great reviews Moore's auto repair had received. I called at 9 and no one was there. Walked a few miles from the hotel I got to find them closed. Around 10am someone opened the door and I let him know what happened, not giving any pressure to be speedy or anything. I'm desperate and it'll take what it takes, was my thought on the matter. They didn't want any part of it. Told me to get my truck off their property, as it was parked in a 'no parking' area, where the tow truck put it. There were other cars in that 'no parking' area also, and I figured it was overflow parking for the repair shop. The guy didn't even seem to want to give me time to arrange to move it. This was memorable, too: when I asked him why he wasn't complaining about the OTHER cars parked in the 'no parking' area, he said, "well, they're not standing in front of me to bitch at," and then mumbled complaints about the neighbors. So in spite of the great reviews, don't take your car here, especially if you have to tow it. If you're a good old local, you might get more respect, but even that's a gamble. read more

These guys rock! Had an overheating issue on the hiway (80) and was able to get off in Truckee and got lucky enough to find Moore Automotive open on a holiday. They knew we were stuck and that they were the only game in town, so they could easily have taken advantage of the situation, but didn't. I highly recommend Moore Automotive. I had an issue with my 2011 Sienna Minivan. Selected Moore based on a recommendation of a trusted tire repair shop in town. Brought the van in, Justin and team were helpful, thorough and fair. The waiting room was clean, nice view, had popcorn and coffee available. They looked plenty busy but were able to work me in given my circumstance. The only issue I had was finding the place but google maps got me there. If it was possible to give zero points, I would. I was beyond overwhelmed by the lack of professionalism when I drove up. There were several hoodlums fighting with other customers or neighbors. It was so ugly. Not sure if this company knows how to fix cars. They definitely do NOT know how to hire or train employees. So unfortunate. Destroyed my confidence in the company. They got my car up and runnning so I could drive it to my own mechanic, and they charged a fair price for the diagnostic work. I drove my old diesel Mercedes up to the snow at Tahoe over the holiday break. When I went to start the car to drive home it wouldn't start. Moore Automotive was recommended by the people at the auto parts shop in town and they couldn't have referred me to a better place. Justin, the owner, took time to answer my questions over the phone, gave me some tips to try to start the car on my own and, when I did in fact have to tow the car down to him on New Year's Eve, he got my car up and running in a couple hours and at a great price. He even helped me remove my tire chains before making the trip back to Sonoma County. Rarely do you find a shop like Justin's where the people are trustworthy and understanding and get the job done well in a timely fashion (and on a holiday no less). Our car developed a horrendous sound two days after xmas that was loud enough that people were flagging us to tell us to stop. We called and were able to get the car taken a look at straight away. He took off the front wheel and had a thorough look before concluding that a pebble had gotten stuck in the wheel. He said there was no charge even though he'd spent a good amount of time examining everything and providing us with reassurance. (We of course gave a good tip anyway). read more

Our Expedition blew a spark plug on our way from the Bay Area to Utah. I called several local repair shops and all of them recommended Moore Automotive. Justin, the owner, kindly waited after hours for the tow truck to get my vehicle there and even kept it for a few extra days so we could continue our trip in a rental car. Due to traffic, we were a little late getting back and Justin again kindly waited for us and had even started my car so it was warm when we got in it. I have a 97 Toyota Land Cruiser, was driving to work and my brakes had developed an issue. My friend, who has been living in Truckee for 25 years recommended Justin at Moore Automotive. The next morning I called, got the recorder and Justin called me back within the hour. I took the vehicle in, Justin was friendly, outgoing, and was eager to work on my vehicle as there was another land cruiser in the parking lot that seemed to have the same issues as my cruiser and part was not completely working properly. However Justin seemed undaunted and confident about fixing both of our cruisers' issues, as he personally drove me back to my house, in my cruiser to help diagnose the problem. What customer service!!!. That is great service especially when so many other mechanics would have handed me a phone book and would have had to get a taxi myself. The next day Justin called me to explain what is wrong and what kind of damage($$$$$) it would be to fix. I was pleasantly surprised fearing the unknown, some mechanics can be unscrupulous and greedy...not Justin. Ultimately the brake booster needed to be replaced, the part price and labor charges were a fraction of what I would have been charged at Toyota, To include 3 other shops I called just to get price checks in Tahoe area. Needless to say that "other land cruiser in parking lot" had same issue, was fixed and back in customers happy hands already when I showed up to take my vehicle back. Overall Justin is extremely honest (a company in Tahoe City said my brake lines needed to be replaced..they are cracked 625$$$..Justin laughed said they are fine) friendly, kind, professional, safe, and will certainly be taking my vehicle to him to repair. I would recommend his expertise and vehicle repair shop to my Mom as well as yours! !!. Also another cool aspect is it is a complete family business with even his son working along side of "Dad" showing him the daily rigors of business, customer service and some wrenching!!. While on a trip through the Tahoe area with my mother and young son, my mini-van broke down. Not knowing anyone in town I asked our tow-truck driver for a recommendation. Because a pulley had come off the motor (and lost the serpentine belt in the process), I wasn't sure if this would have run into a quite large & expensive repair. Justin @ Moore Automotive took one look at my van and told me that it would most likely be under $500 to fix. Relieved, I left the van and returned to the bay area hoping to return the following weekend to pick up my van. On Wed. Justin called to tell me that my van was fixed. While working on it, he realized the transmission was leaking and fixed that as well. Total bill was $385.00. Justin is a great guy to work with, VERY honest, and though I hope to never need his services in the future :), I HIGHLY recommend his business if you need work done on a vehicle! read more
