(Just being honest) prices are great just $6 for resident parking, lots of spaces, your car won't be crammed into a spot. Not a long walk from parking to beach. Food is decent.. the kids (well young adults) who work here are so friendly, which you don't find anywhere anymore. Sand is soft and beautiful, water is clear, not rocky or any seaweed.. waves are just enough.. peaceful, fun but won't over power you.

The surf here is more gentle than nearby Narragansett Beach. Scarborough State Beach with its large pavilion and expanded beach area, with the nearby Scarborough South, offers a wide range of beach related activities. People of all ages can find activities of interest from sun bathing on Scarborough's sandy beach, and people watching on its boardwalk to picnicking under shaded shelters, and saltwater bathing in one of Rhode Island's most popular spots.

There aren't any nearby places for food or drink so pack a cooler and bring it over with some snacks. No dogs allowed during peak season. Must pay for parking. They take credit cards. Lifeguards are available in certain parts. Very quiet beach and a perfect spot to come relax in the summer.

Beaches in New York are definitely not all that so we decided to hit up the Rhode. It did not disappoint! Let's start by saying it was only $14 to park for the whole day! There are restrooms/changing rooms on premises. Everything is compostable so no flushing but the restrooms sure were pretty clean. No running water so you're kinda stuck with just hand sanitizer. I would recommend staying away from yellow, just let it mellow. The area is pretty isolated, it doesn't get too too packed. There's a limit of how much parking is available so it can only get "packed" up to a certain point. Bottom line: come to this beach. This is all I know but don't tell everyone about it. When things become popular they quickly get ruined. I know, I should've not reviewed it but I couldn't stay greedy. You're welcome, LOL, enjoy!

We figured that people would have had to have left by then so we took a chance and drive down anyhow. When we got to the girl, we asked if they had spots and she said yes! It was $7 and we found a spot right away. Parking can be limited but they have bathrooms and the walk to the beach is only a few steps away. The beach is long and narrow with plenty of room for everyone with space in between. We headed to the right and settled just past the area that they monitor. We set ourselves up with our chairs, umbrella and Italian grinders! The beach is clean and well taken care of! I was surprised that the bathrooms had already been locked for the evening and it was only 6:30. I mean, we did pay to use the facilities... closing them before 7 on a peak summer weekend is a bit excessive. Check out the spot closest to where you park. The water is completely still and would make the perfect place to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

It's accessible by public transportation or by car.....During the summer season, parking is free after 5pm, so that makes it easy for those wanting to save some bucks. The path from the parking lot takes you right to the waterfront, and you can continue on following the path along the gate (although I didn't go all the way around). Paths are clear and easy to follow to. As a side note, be wary of GPS. Mine wanted to take me into the military base, but the entrance road to the parking lot is next to the road to the military base; the last thing you want is the military coming after you. But the signs are clearly marked, so as long as you pay attention to the road and signs and not the GPS you should be fine.
