Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Tours - Cheese pairing

Thank you JJ for driving us around Hunter Valley. The six or seven wineries were all quite interesting the microbrewery at the end was a nice finish. What made the trip all the more interesting was sharing the experience with six other couples. Individuals at the beginning of the day had no knowledge of each other. But soon the camaraderie along with some wine soon made everyone best friends exchanging contact information before we said our final goodbyes as each party was dropped off at their respective hotel locations. It was a great experience for everyone.

We were recommended to do this tour as Hunter Valley businesses have adopted COVID-SAFE procedures…read moreand bookings would probably be needed. Travelling as a small group would save us phoning ahead. Also, we did not need to be concerned about drinking & driving as the pickup was at our accomodation. After booking, a couple of emails followed; one was a receipt and another the offer of a take home meal for our evening meal. The emails were also explicit about changing the booking and not being at the pickup on time with loss of moneys as the penalties. What was not sent was the time and place of pickup. Our trip was on the Tuesday so I spent Monday 'phoning, texting and emailing to get the time and place. We even visited their POB and met a young fellow who took our card and said he would pass on our concern at this stage. The only thing he was certain of was that no one was in the office. The answering machine had the message that due to COVID the office had to close on Mondays but would be open at 8:30am Tuesday. However, we could leave a message on the machine if our enquiry was urgent. Even leaving a card didn't get a return email, text or 'phone call. Now pretty unimpressed, we 'phoned, texted and emailed at 8:30, 9:00 and 9:30. So much for the office being open at 8:30. We sat out the front of our accommodation determining when we would give up when the 'bus pulled up at 9:55....for a 10:00 start at the first winery. Our driver said that this was the first time he had done this job but we were on the list and they were clearly running late. His name was Paul and unless they have many drivers named Paul ( mentioned in a few reviews ) he may have said this to avoid listening to a familiar complaint. Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Tours carries plenty of signage on the 'bus on COVID-SAFE but the 8 of us were seated in the only available 8 seats. The two seats next to the driver were not available to us. Once hurried on it was clear we were part of 3 groups making up 8, 2 couples and a group of four. At best we should have been advised to bring face masks otherwise there should have only been 5-6 passengers. Our driver did his job well but was often concerned about the timing. We had a nice snack lunch provided which had enough for leftovers. Our last stop was at their POB for a cheese and wine tasting and it was here we not only got to see the young bloke who took our card but one of the Fat Blokes graced our group with his presence. This would have been the time to placate us but once both these people saw us it was heads down and back to the office ( and no, we didn't 'phone to see if he would answer) The lack of communication was one strike but not to give a reason when the opportunity arose was the second, the third (and most important) was "how safe were we" huddled in the back of the 'bus. Each of our stops demonstrated how seriously the businesses here are taking COVID. If you are travelling in a large group, hiring a 'bus is a good idea but perhaps not this one as once they have your money, no communication. We revisited a couple of the wineries the next day and as there was just the two of us it wasn't an issue just walking in.

Gregg is one amazing tour guide…read more You look for someone wearing red outside Customs House at either 10:30am or 2:30pm for an awesome three-hour guided tour of the city. Some history quirks are mentioned. For instance: why was the Sydney Opera House built over budget? Was the building of the Sydney Opera House Sydney's response to compete with Melbourne? An awesome city unfolds. See some amazing street art, and well as learn about an interesting tree at The Royal Botanical Gardens. Who knows you might get to touch the lucky pig. Discover the best parts of Macquarie Street, Hyde Park, Martin Place, The Ivy, Circular Quay and The Rocks. Gregg really knows his stuff. A walking encyclopaedia. Peek Tours has been around for about three years, and Gregg conducted such tours in Europe prior. All you need to do is turn up at your allocated time. Unless you wish to walk in a group of 10 or more people, bookings need to be made at least 24 hours in advance. Peek Tours also conducts a Party Tour and a Rocks Pub Walk. Had an awesome time. Check out the amazing group photos on their Facebook page. Although the tour is free upfront, tips are advised - pay for what you feel the experience was worth to you at the end. Priceless.

Upon arriving, Greg greeted me with a brief description of the beers at the first pub as well as an intro on the history of the Rocks areas. Each pub on the tour had a unique history and experience. I learned so much about the city and had a variety of beers that are only found in Australia. Greg answered all of my questions about the Rocks area as well as gave me helpful tips on how to have a "Barbie on the beach" on my walk from Coogee to Bondi tomorrow. Really great tour from an extremely knowledgeable local! Highly recommend!

We weren't sure if our tour would be impacted by the smoke and haze or not. First Paul kept us informed in the time leading up to our tour and even on the morning of the tour, Paul showed up saying he couldn't promise great visibility but he would try his best IF we wanted to go, if not, he totally understood and whatever we decided was fine. We couldn't believe how he much he was willing to work with us. We decided to give it a shot, we didn't have anything else planned it seemed a shame not to try. We are so glad we did. True the smoke did somewhat hamper our visibility but Paul did such a great job taking us to wonderful lookouts that were off the beaten path that we still did get to see some remarkable vistas. It almost looked otherworldly at times with just faint silhouettes of the mountains rising above the smoke. We had seen other visitors photos so felt like we were getting to see the Blue Mountains from a vantage point few others have experienced. Plus Paul taught us many thing about the flora, fauna and Tim Tam Slams along the way. After a super lunch, Paul thought of another place to take us so we could see some other great views in the Royal National Park that were not obscured by the smoke. It was breathtakingly beautiful and just went to show how versatile and fluid the tour could be. Paul really does go all out to make sure you have the best tour possible. He is extremely knowledgeable about a host of different subjects and was so laid back and easy to be around that he was an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Our entire group had a wonderful time. We highly recommend Blue Mountain Eco Tours.

Seriously it was that good. To start the owner does some of the tours and we were lucky enough to have him do our tour. We were picked up in what looked to be a brand new land rover. The car was super clean and nice. The tour started right away with interesting facts about the area and landmarks on the way to the mountain. We had a one and a half hour drive to the first spot. We veered off the road took the range rover off road for about 15 minutes to a secluded spot where we had snacks and tea and soaked up the scenery. It was very likely some of most breath taking views I have ever seem. It was so nice to be in the wilderness alone. We then went to another half dozen exclusive spots and were blown away with each spot including 3 sisters. The level of detail and planning that goes into this tour is amazing. We went after a rain storm and our guide changed the tour up to showcase the waterfalls. We were so excited to see them. This tour is not a bus tour and is so private and special. I hope you can find a time to book it.
