WOW! I thought, hmm, do I want to pick out and plant a few Fruit Trees myself, or has experience shown me that someone with decades of practice and results may guide me to better decisions? From our first trip to Moon Valley Nurseries in Fillmore to pick out the Trees, Roy guided us on why certain trees, although maybe less tall, were a far better tree overall due to the health of the tree and leaves. Therefore, I chose a less tall Mandarin Fruit Tree, because I want a better fruit producer over the decades when I pick my own fruit from my own tree. Roy explained how space in the middle of the tree will allow air to flow through the tree which will allow the tree to breath better, therefore produce better. On and on... Amanda, don't tell Roy, collaborated with me on maximizing the 60% sale price combined with delivery fees and a year's maintenance contract (some goodies included) for all 3 Fruit Trees. Each one of the 3 Fruit Trees now in my yard look stunning and healthy and I am excited to see how quickly they grow and how much they produce, which Roy estimated for me on each Fruit Tree. The day of planting, Mauricio showed up with 5 men and 2 trucks and in less than an hour my 3 Fruit Trees had the holes dug out, professionally planted, fertilized, and thoroughly watered for the first time. I would be spending a good part of the day just digging out the first hole that needed to be at least 2 times the size of the tree container...for one tree, let alone 3 trees! As for all the rest they did, I would have worried about what soil amendments and fertilizers to add now versus later. All of this was done for us! After planting, Mauricio handed us a Professional Colored Brochure and explained what we need to do for the rest of the year, to keep our Fruit Trees staying healthy, growing, and producing a lot of fruit. Oh, and Moon Valley Nurseries will be coming out to my home 3 more times during this year, observing and guiding me on each Fruit Tree. We are also excited that each tree comes with a guarantee. We would not have obtained this length of guarantee on trees we simply went and picked out at a Nursery. But that is not all Mauricio did for me. I had struggled over where to place the Fruit Trees in my yard. Mauricio explained to us where he would place each tree and why if this was his yard. Now that all 3 Fruit Trees are in place, I can see exactly why Mauricio chose each spot for each tree. The one that will grow the largest has the most space available. Two other trees were placed yards apart, so they would be able to grow to their maximum height and width. But trees were also placed so I can see from one tree to the next. It was fun driving through the nursery with Kevin to personally pick out exactly what we wanted. Kevin is very knowledgeable, friendly and responsive to deal with. I contacted Moon Valley Nursery in Fillmore to get a quote to replant a cactus. It had blown over Christmas morning after a wind event. They have a convenient online scheduler to set up the appointment. As they have specific people designated for different areas, I chose Royce Iwansky, since he was the person designated for my area. Completed the request and waited for the appointment to arrive. To make sure I would be prepared for the appointment, I called to see if there would be specific requirements for the appointment. Call cycled through several different extensions, with the last allowing me to leave a voice mail. Left my contact information and waited for their call back. No call back. By this time, the appointment day/ time arrived and nothing. No call/ email or text. All this contact information is required when you schedule the appointment, so I know they had everything required. I eventually called, only to be told Royce Iwansky no longer worked for the company. They told me I should schedule another appointment with Ed Ramirez. Once again went through the online process of scheduling an appointment. Received a call back from Ed Ramirez the next day. Received a verbal quote of $500 or $1000 depending on what would be required to perform the work. Since a written quote is always preferred when dealing with money, I sent a text requesting the document. Over the next week and a half, I followed up many times with both calls and texts. No reply at all or working on it, became the norm. Eventually received the quote for $2000 which was between 2 and 4 times the original verbal quote. When asked, Ed Ramirez informed me they needed to use a 40-ton crane that has 80 times the required capacity from their buddies. read more

We spent $2,500 on 3 fruit trees. They refused to refund nor exchange the very sick avocado tree they sold to us that started dying only a few weeks after planting. Called the nursery immediately but here's what happened. After the first two times, they said they'd get back to us. They never did. Then the last guy said nah don't bring it back. It will be just fine and they'd get back to us and of course they never did. Now the tree is pretty much dead. So that was basically an $800 waste of money. I don't recommend this nursery. They last person we finally did get ahold of said they don't exchange any trees unless we have an "extended warranty". What?! Nobody told us that. And now it's too late. I'm mostly sad for the tree and mostly upset for our lightened wallet. It's like they didn't care after they made the sale. What a shame. We were going to buy so many more trees for our property. :( read more

Royce helped me figure out what I wanted in our garden and made sure I got the specific type of Palo Verdes tree I wanted. Royce is knowledgeable, friendly, polite, helpful and responsive. Jorge and his crew got the tree out to us on time and planted quickly and efficiently. Jorge is also polite, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He did exactly what I wanted done quickly and well and our garden soil was amended, the tree is properly staked and mulched, and the well around it neat and effective. He explained how best to care for the tree, too. The tree is beautiful, healthy and a nice size and to get it delivered and planted and guaranteed for the next 90 days (when most cases of shock , etc. occur) for the price we paid was a good value. Amazing collection of trees and shrubs. I had kind of a weird interaction with the sales person. They were very professional and pretty convincing. But they promised me a tree and didn't give any information on when the tree would be ready and started dodging my calls. Then when I finally got hold of them, they give me a huge explanation, which made sense, but they weren't upfront with me, which I didn't like. They were finally able to deliver the tree and things are good now. One of trees is in a pretty bad shape, and I'm hoping they don't dodge my calls when I ask for replacement. read more

We called and spoke with Royce and after some Q and A, we determined that it would need to be replaced. Royce spoke with Amanda and came up with a reasonable solution. Wow an entirely different feeling about Moon Valley now. We bought a one year guarantee, and one fruitless tree got a full crop of olives. We asked for a replacement. When they finally came. quite late but no call, they were in a big hurry. I had to ask them to completely fill up the hole as there was dirt they pulled out all around. A guy sort of brushed at it , but no attempt to flatten or check for air pockets. I figured I would do it. They left and I noticed that they had not left the trunk slightly above the surrounding soil as it would sink. as they always do. Well it really, really sank, got stressed from water always pooling at the trunk, and showed signs of disease. I called Moon Valley three times to have them come out find a way to get the trunk higher. Each time talked to a different guy, that listened and said they would arrange it and call me back. or they said they would have the RIGHT guy call me back about going out to fix it. Never did. The tree seems to have what is being called Slow Olive Tree Decline Syndrome because it's not completely understood, some speculation it is two pathogens working together. It's on a slope so we are pulling soil down the hill and putting rocks to hold the soil after we get the trunk and a little of the root ball exposed. We will continue watching it read more

We bought a gorgeous coral tree at Moon Valley and I was given an interest free 12-month contract to sign that was not in English and told they were having computer problems and would mail it. Never got payment contract in English. Today I get a bill from Greensky lending and there is a whopping 25% interest charge. I called Moon Valley and complained for the third time. The phone number I was given for Greensky is a recording so no help. I am VERY UNHAPPY. read more

I bet this is a great nursery, but due to the overly-annoying constant barrage of popups on their website, I cannot even browse their inventory. Worse still, entering your zip code in the large, page-blocking website leads you to a malware site that is outside their domain. Once that happens, you can't browse any pages on their site with out the same block. Really, you should only shop with this nursery on site--avoid their website at all costs until they get it sorted out. Very sad, as I think they had the tree that I need to buy about 20 of, but I'm sure I'll find them elsewhere. read more

I purchased an avocado tree in a 5-gallon pot on 3/18/2022 from Moon Valley Nursery, 36705 Briggs Rd, Murrieta, California 92563. They charged $399.99. I did not take delivery until 4/20/2022. When I picked up the tree the leaves were brown and dirt dry. My gardener planted the tree the same morning. The tree never produced any new leaves despite watering every day and caring for the tree as directed. I contacted the sales agent, Tom Anthony on June 7 and texted him a photo of the tree with the dead leaves. He suggested buying Moon Valley Nursey Vitamin B product. My Gardner came to service the yard on June 8th and he said the tree was dead. I conducted an online search for another tree and found the price for an avocado tree on a 5-gallon container range from $58.75 to $160.00. On June 20th, I called Moon Valley Nursery and spoke to Dallin. Tom Anthony was on vacation. I explain the situation and texted him a photo of the tree. He offered to settle by charging me $200.00 for a new tree. I told him the $399.99 is a rip off as a tree in a 5-gallon container at the nurseries is around $60 to $100, and $200 is also a rip-off. And, I said, I believe the tree was not cared for between March 18 and April 20th when I took delivery. I asked Dallin about a warranty. He said they only warrant if they plant the tree. He said the cost for them to deliver and plant the tree is $500.00. I replied, this is outrageous. He said that's the best he could do. This is "rip off." read more

We had an amazing experience with Moon Valley Nurseries, from start-to-finish. Our journey started with a visit to their Filmore location where Eduardo spent a couple of hours with us driving around the property and looking at different tree options. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very patient with us. When we were concerned about whether the trees we selected would work in the areas we were looking to plant them, he came out to the house to do an in-person consultation. When it came time to plant them, the coordinators Amanda and Miguel were very professional, customer-focused, and helped make sure everything went as planned. Miguel followed up several times to make sure everyting was going well, and after the service was completed, with ensuring we were happy with the entire process. He was great! And lastly, the two crews that came out (2 different planting days), led by Mauricio and George, were outstanding. The skills of each of the teams really blew us away. They were easy to work with, very skilled and efficient, and consulted with us throughout the project. It was easy to see the tenure of these teams by their craftmanship.
