We always stop by Moo Thru on our way down from NoVA to Charlottesville. It's right next to a major road so it gets a lot of traffic. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed here twice. Disappointment number one: I asked for a thick shake, and it was runny. Disappointment number two: I ordered a hot fudge sundae. We went to the drive through line to order an ice cream cone and 2 pints, only to find out that pints need to be ordered at the in-person window. The drive through line itself required some waiting, enough so that I hopped out to go to the ordering window while husband stayed in the car to get the ice cream cone. Decided to stop by on a trip back to the NOVA area and boy am I glad I did! Located on the main highway road -- this was packed with both people waiting in line to order and drive through! There's a parking available and some tables to eat at as well. Menu: serves both soft serve and scooped ice cream. It was a hot day and while there was a line (we parked and stood in line) it wasn't a very long wait. I went with a small sweet cream ice cream and topped it with hot fudge. For some reason it seemed more expensive than I had thought and I think they may have charged it as a sundae and not just a small cup with topping. There was a good amount of seating and we hung around. The ice cream was good. Quite smooth. I wasn't totally sure if I got chocolate sauce or hot fudge since it seemed a bit runny. In terms of parking and seating, there are a decent number of parking spaces around the standalone shop. There are also a handful of picnic benches too. No inside seating. Service manager needs to train better! The window pickup is a hot mess. We arrived Sunday, August 17, at 3:00 ish, and the line wasn't too long. We ordered our ice cream. I ordered a medium coffee sundae with wet nuts and with no whipped cream. My granddaughter ordered mint chocolate with sprinkles. I paid and tipped 20 percent ( regret that). There were many people standing in a large mass waiting for their ice cream. The young man handing out the orders had no priority guidance. After fifteen minutes, and many people behind us receiving their ice cream, he picked up a Sunday that had been sitting on the counter next to him for a good five minutes, and he called out small coffee sundae. It was covered in whipped cream. It was supposed to be a medium. Worse yet, sitting right beside that Sunday was what appeared to be a small mint chocolate chip with sprinkles. It continued to sit there while he delved out over 20 other orders of milkshakes, ice cream cones, even waters. You name it; everything came before this little sundae sitting there right next to his left hand the entire freaking time!!!!!! We literally watched it melt. Multiple times I said "I think that sprinkle one is my granddaughter's." He didn't even acknowledge my statement and just continued to hand out other orders. We watched her sundae melt and melt some more. As the sprinkles slid down, finally, he reached for it and called out mint chocolate with sprinkles. By then it was soup but we had no time to wait for them to fix it. Unfortunately this is the third time we've experienced the lack of proper priority setting in the service and received melted ice cream. My granddaughter and I like to treat ourselves to Moo Thru on our trips between Cville and NOVA. Well, we used to - but we won't be doing so again.
