I was really disappointed with the service at the deli today I'm a truck driver and when ever I'm in the area I stop by for lunch because of the fresh food they offer cooked daily. But today when I asked to be made a sandwich I was told by the woman there's some premade sandwiches in the fridge I didn't want those but a fresh one on a warm roll and she asked a co worker and was told the same thing when I wanted different meat different cheese. So I had to settle on something I didn't really had a taste for felt really uncomfortable today here. Most likely will have to find another polish deli to stop by for sandwiches since they didn't feel like making me one.

I live close and used to come here frequently, but I am sick of the racism. Every time I am at the deli or food counter, they serve all Polish customers before me who came after me and then when it's my turn, it's like they hesitate. I tolerated this for a long time, but after last night with the croissant no more! Look at the reviews on Yelp. They treat so many people the same who are not Polish. Yesterday to charge me 30 cents extra, they try to say this is a sweet roll when it's very clearly a flavored croissant. Also, it's not about money for me. That's fine if you want to charge $1.99 rather than $2.69, but don't call this a sweet roll when it's pretty damn clear it's a croissant. It was the end of the night anyway and these sweets were old and just going to get thrown out. What TERRIBLE people!!! It's shaped like a croissant and is very clearly one. They wanted to fight with me so hardcore over this and the manager was sooooo rude!!! This older woman. They prefer that non Poles don't enter their store. Every time I am there they look at me like I am an annoyance. I was good to this store too. Once I saw they didn't charge me for something and I returned and paid for it. I'm an honest person. They are not.

Absolutely amazing! We had a bridal shower in April that needed appetizers and desserts. Ana is so professional and knowledgeable about how much we needed. She went above and beyond to make our event perfect. Her team is also spectacular- they set up and design the tables - I was very impressed - and so were my guests. It was beautiful! Definitely going to have them do the same for the wedding in June! I highly recommend them. They offer more than Polish food - their appetizers are multi cultural (their sushi was so fresh!!) and their desserts and presentation is far more superior than other bakeries and catering vendors. Thank you Ana!!

Montrose Deli Catering did an amazing job catering my wedding during coronavirus on Sept 2020 at Loft Lucia, Chicago. I had been planning this event for over 12 months and met with Ms. Anna to go over the menu, set up details, and more. She was extremely knowledgable and helpful in making my wedding a smooth event. Additionally, she was responsive special asks I had for my wedding menu (for example, the Chef created a custom arugula salad based on our preferences). When the wedding finally took place, Ms. Anna & her catering crew did a fantastic job setting up the tablescape (plates, silverware, glassware), buffet set-up, as well as creating a beautiful charcuterie table. Her staff also took all necessary precautions needed during the pandemic (masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, making sure guest didn't touch serving utensils, etc.) The set up of everything was beautiful, the food was delicious, and I could not be happy with how everything came out!! Thank you for everything!

Fresh hot rolls, yes please! First time here and was amazed at the variety of foods sold here. It's a spacious store with a huge parking lot and the lines moved quickly.

Another tray not shown of jello chicken and pork with carrots, one of my favorites.

I want to say Montrose Deli delivered on time and their catering trays were prefect and delicious. For someone who has gluten issues I enjoyed some of the food trays that we ordered. I went through the list with my partner on what to order because I have severe gluten issues. thank you Montrose Deli for the delivery service and the delicious trays of food you prepared for us on October 15 Saturday. They were a hit

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. Darius wasn't lying, the spicy wings were next level. The best grocery store chicken I've ever had. Boomin the Publix fried chicken. Shoutout to the Darius' and Damariea's of the world. Good people. As always, I am looking for new fantastic restaurants, and stores to try out, and share with: family, friends, and on Yelp. As you walk in it seems like a common corner store, groceries in the front, meat towards the rear. When I walked to the back I had a pretty good hunch this would be a great one. The fresh smell, it was very clean, and the amazing eye catching signage. You could feel like you just walked into in a sweet little store in Mexico. When they handed me the food I ordered I knew was on the right track. When I took my first bites I smiled, and knew, I needed to share this place. I was intrigued by the Pozole Verde sign out front. I had never had it before, so I placed my order for that and zero regrets. It comes out in a quart container with a plastic wrapped foam tray with: chopped onions, cilantro, radish, shredded cabbage, and mexican oregano. I added mostly everything but went easy on the oregano. The chunks of chicken were tender and not overcooked. The hominy and vegetables were just right as well. They have this to a science and it has to be near perfect. Now to the tacos: As you often see in neighborhood grocery stores the chorizo was hanging in back above the meat counter, so a house made chorizo taco was a given. The Al Pastor was reccomend by the one of the butchers, and I had a steak taco to round it, and myself, out. All I can say is that like the pozole everything was superb. Even the salsas.. I wish I knew of this place when I worked and lived in the area. I would definitely have known everyone there by name. I still smile thinking of it, and next time I'm in that hood, I will be there. I look forward to trying out a few more menu items, and picking up some of the fresh meat. So maybe don't slap Grandma... but you should at least pick her up and take her out to lunch here. Enjoy! #AlfieEats
