I was really disappointed with the service at the deli today I'm a truck driver and when ever I'm in the area I stop by for lunch because of the fresh food they offer cooked daily. But today when I asked to be made a sandwich I was told by the woman there's some premade sandwiches in the fridge I didn't want those but a fresh one on a warm roll and she asked a co worker and was told the same thing when I wanted different meat different cheese. So I had to settle on something I didn't really had a taste for felt really uncomfortable today here. I live close and used to come here frequently, but I am sick of the racism. Every time I am at the deli or food counter, they serve all Polish customers before me who came after me and then when it's my turn, it's like they hesitate. I tolerated this for a long time, but after last night with the croissant no more! Look at the reviews on Yelp. They treat so many people the same who are not Polish. Yesterday to charge me 30 cents extra, they try to say this is a sweet roll when it's very clearly a flavored croissant. Also, it's not about money for me. That's fine if you want to charge $1.99 rather than $2.69, but don't call this a sweet roll when it's pretty damn clear it's a croissant. It was the end of the night anyway and these sweets were old and just going to get thrown out. What TERRIBLE people!!! It's shaped like a croissant and is very clearly one. Unfortunately we had a bad experience today as a staff member asked us if we had service dog papers for our small very sweet old dog (which I do have papers for but did not have with me). Absolutely amazing! We had a bridal shower in April that needed appetizers and desserts. Ana is so professional and knowledgeable about how much we needed. She went above and beyond to make our event perfect. Her team is also spectacular- they set up and design the tables - I was very impressed - and so were my guests. It was beautiful! Definitely going to have them do the same for the wedding in June! I highly recommend them. They offer more than Polish food - their appetizers are multi cultural (their sushi was so fresh!!) and their desserts and presentation is far more superior than other bakeries and catering vendors. Montrose Deli Catering did an amazing job catering my wedding during coronavirus on Sept 2020 at Loft Lucia, Chicago. I had been planning this event for over 12 months and met with Ms. Anna to go over the menu, set up details, and more. She was extremely knowledgable and helpful in making my wedding a smooth event. Additionally, she was responsive special asks I had for my wedding menu (for example, the Chef created a custom arugula salad based on our preferences). When the wedding finally took place, Ms. Anna & her catering crew did a fantastic job setting up the tablescape (plates, silverware, glassware), buffet set-up, as well as creating a beautiful charcuterie table. Her staff also took all necessary precautions needed during the pandemic (masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, making sure guest didn't touch serving utensils, etc.) The set up of everything was beautiful, the food was delicious, and I could not be happy with how everything came out!! They have an excellent selection. The hot food bar is awesome. Great service. The deli counter is great. The selection of sausages is very good. They have a nice pastry section. There is a refrigerated section with items from the hot food bar plus some extras. The other refrigerated section is where the soups are. The staff is very attentive. My only drawback is, some of the soups have filler in them. Like the mushroom soup that has macaroni noodles in it. Or the Sorrell soup has a half of a boiled egg in the container. I have yet to try some of the other soups. I grew up in a Polish/Ukrainian household. The price for cooked from scratch foods is well worth it. It is a pleasant experience every time I go there. As I was waiting for my number to be called, for about 10minutes, I noticed that they do not change gloves when handling the deli and raw meat products. Every single person other than that individual has been a delight and eager to please. Thier already prepared food is hot, fresh and delicious. Don't get me started on the cakes, to die for. Bread is the freshest I've had outside of Europe. The rye is a personal favorite. Usually very good produce, although sometimes their sell overly ripe avocados and rotten fruit. Good selection of regular and international brands, as well as liquor and dessert items. Good quality meat, chicken, lamb, and fish. Prices are usually pretty good. Store seems to be well run, but sometimes they need to open up additional checkout lanes sooner when things get backed up. I am dying today in pain after eating picked cucumber soup yesterday, it's a Polish staple, it can be a very tasty soup, normally. My head is pounding since they use MSG in all their cooking(Vegeta is used as salt and as a flavor enhancer)I got sick here before ,6 months ago to be exact,with their roasted duck. Ania is super woman! Ania and her team did an amazing job with communication before the wedding and afterwards to cater for Poprawiny! The food is just AMAZING! It was so good for our late night snack along with the main courses and snacks for the Poprawiny. The only negative is that they could not deliver the food later than 8pm on my wedding so my caterer had to place It on the tables. Which meant we couldn't get the meat cart package that included a beautiful layout. If you are looking for late night food to be delivered around 10-11am for your wedding, they might not be the best option. Our caterer had no issues with placing the trays of food in the fridge until 10:30pm to be severed to our guests. Overall, I highly recommend ordering catered food from Montrose Deli. read more

I don't normally cook at home due to my inconsistent work schedule, so this little gem has become my "go-to" spot for all things grocery shopping! I love this place not only it's Polish (my favorite), but also it has a large selection of soup, hot Polish delicacies and pastries. By the way, the prices are fantastic. I can get all my lunch and dinner essentials here for under $20 and the amount of food can last me for at least six (6) meals! Chicago, Illinois My Ukie friend and I went to visit the Montrose Deli today for the first time. As I am not Polish nor Ukranian and my friend is 50/50 Polish and Ukrainian (Ulock) I took him along to show me the ropes. The Deli is definitely a place that stocks all things Polish/Ukrainian. If you are from Poland or the Ukraine, this is the place for you. The aisles are somewhat narrow so you have to be good at walking a tight rope. They have hand baskets to carry your purchases with you as you navigate down the aisles, no room for carts. They have a deli section for fresh meats and sausages ( of all varieties ) and a deli section for fresh prepared foods like breaded pork cutlets, varieties of chicken , stuffed cabbage, fresh mashed potatoes, ribs etc. They have a fresh produce section with fruits and vegetables etc. They carry specialty items that are familiar to Eastern European clientele. They even have cute little glass jars of jam with handles to be used as glasses for serving beverages after all the jam is gone. There is adequate parking adjacent to the west side of the store with an even larger parking lot directly across the street. Oh, and they have a bakery section with fresh breads and pastries and my favorite almond crescent rolls. They also have an extensive array of home soups including borscht. Lived within 2 minutes walking distance for six years. If you're not Polish, don't bother; you might as well be a space alien. I look like my dad (brown hair and eyes) but my mother is Northern Italian (blonde and green). It's like they can smell it on you. You're a sixth class citizen.
