Absolutely, positively, DO NOT HIRE. Brian came out, did the…read moremeasurements, gave me a quote that I agreed on and told me they would get started on Friday, Saturday at the latest. I didn't hear or see anything from him the entire week and on the following Friday I had decided that if he wasn't there on Saturday morning I was going to go with someone else. Unfortunately, they showed up on Friday around 4:00 in the afternoon and started working on the bamboo. Bamboo removal is a tough job, requiring a lot of cutting and hauling before you can even feed it into the chipper but it seemed like they were making quick progress. I have/had a pretty nice yard and the grass was coming in well with the spring rain but there is a large section in the back of the yard that is mostly dirt and weeds. I was very surprised that the bamboo that they did not have time to chip up that day was just left in the middle of the yard but figured they would get to it first thing the following day. Most of it sat there for over a week, the grass there is now brown but hopefully recoverable. What's worse is that my neighbor told me he was actually bringing in wood/trash from other jobs and chipping it on my property, while the stuff they cut down in my yard was just sitting there killing the grass. He also sent me a revised quote, almost 10% higher than what we agreed upon, claiming it was due to increased material costs. I know things are quickly getting more expensive right now and I was in a hurry to get this started as I was getting a dog, so I very unwisely let it slide. Brian also asked for almost 90% of the total amount upfront saying that he needed the money for materials to get started. I told him I would give him what he needed for materials, plus 10% of the estimated labor, and that I wanted an invoice for the materials. When I got home the next day, I saw the materials had been delivered but for whatever reason had been stacked in multiple places in grass that was virtually perfect. Again, there is no shortage of dead space, or driveway, where this could have been placed but as he had said the job would only take about a week I let it go. On Sunday, two days after they started, they cut through my internet line while digging the post holes. I was kind of surprised that there hadn't been any sort of check for this, but the line is an odd placement and I could see how that could happen. I am a contractor working from home, and basically lost two days of work. The gate was the last thing to go in and it was basically thrown together and I need to have it redone. It's completely off center, so when I drive in the right side is about two inches off my side view mirror. They also drilled the holes for the hinges straight through the fence board, with nothing behind it, so the screws are sticking straight through. On the hinge side, the screw is already coming out less than three days later. I contacted him about it and he said he'd be out the next day to fix it. This was a week ago and I haven't heard or seen from him since. When the gate was 'completed', he said they were done and I looked around the yard and still saw errant bamboo that hadn't been cut down, spaces underneath the fence in areas, plenty of leftover bamboo and branches that needed to be raked up, basically things I would think would have been included. There was no final walk through and he didn't even ask if I was happy with it. At this point I was so frustrated, I just wanted him and his equipment off of my property. I had to spend about four hours personally cleaning up after them. I got completely taken by this guy. Granted, I should have been paying closer attention. I should have demanded an itemized invoice for materials and paid attention to how many hours a day there were there, but I'm also working and never expected this job to be as slow and shoddy as it was. My neighbors were actually joking with me after the fact that there were days they saw the crew smoking cigarettes and on their phones more than they were working. During this entire process he had kind of an attitude when I would ask him for updates and during the very few hours he was actually here he was clearly rushing things. If it had taken ten days and was absolutely perfect, it would be a lot easier to overlook some of this stuff, but in addition to a disappointing final result I've spent hours of my own time across multiple weekends cleaning up after them and this was stuff that would have taken two guys with their equipment almost nothing. I know people that have had much larger fences put in and it never took more than four or five days, and that's considering a day to let the cement for the posts settle.
