This place has a ton of people in it but it is quiet. Can you imagine? I can actually study here, no problem! Love it! It's great!

Since I'm new to area one of my errands was getting library and rec center cards. Fortunately for…read moreme, you can do both things in one place. The Rec Center: Overall, I liked the layout of the rec center, and the folks that helped with getting a card were SUPER friendly and helpful. While I have not officially used the rec center, I was a bit disappointed with the the size of the weight room. The size of the weight room reminds of a weight room that one would find in a hotel. However, the gym did look like it had everything that one would need for a decent workout. Also, I was a bit surprised that the rec center does not open until 9 am on weekdays (and Saturday). Based on my prior rec center experiments, I'm used to rec centers opening from 5:30 to 7 am. Then again, perhaps, these hours are for the summer months. The Library: Again, the librarian who signed me up for a card was very friendly. Also, I loved how she gave me a very thorough overview of this branch's services and resources. Although I was in the library for only a few minutes, I thought it was very well organized.

This was our first time here and I did not know that this was more than just a library. Well first of all the library was great and my daughter was quite excited to read one of her favorite books to me. After reading we explored this place as something for everyone.....ping pong tables pool table, video games, basketball courts, indoor track, weight room, lots of event rooms and a playground outside for the little ones. The staff there were very friendly. Will definitely be back.

This library is constantly losing books. It has happened to me numerous times & now they've just…read morelost another book I turned in which makes it twice in as many weeks. It is also the 2nd interlibrary book they've lost. For the first one, when I brought it to their attention that I had returned it but it was still showing up on my acct as checked out, the librarian said let me go look for it. She walked away to the children's section & came back a moment later carrying the book. It was on their shelf! I don't even know how that would happen since interlibrary books have a white paper taped to the front of them. This one no longer had the paper on it although it did when I turned it back in. It has happened to my husband as well. He used to check out their foreign language cd's but after being told he hadn't returned a set when he knew he had (he walked back to where he originally found it & there it was on the shelf) he stopped patronizing this place. As of right now, this (2nd) interlibrary book that they have lost is still on my acct as being checked out. They won't remove it. I know I turned it in b/c I checked out 2 books by the same author & turned them in at the same time. One made it back into the system & one has been lost. This is so frustrating. How hard is it to get books checked back into the system? Someone at this library is seriously incompetent. Now I will never just put the books I'm bringing back on the countertop (where they want them placed). I will stand in line & watch the librarian check each & every one of them back in & then I will log into my acct & make sure they are no longer there before I leave.

They now have a big open area with the children's section in two enclosed rooms towards the back. There are a few computer stations in the middle of the room, lots of tables for reading and studying, and a few enclosed work rooms. They even have a charging station for laptops and phones, which looks very high tech! The semi-enclosed children's stacks have 3 computers (for research, mom!), and the other children's area is completely enclosed so that will keep the little ones from roaming or disturbing other patrons. There are 4 check out desks, of course staffed by helpful librarians. The only down side is that there is no self-checkout, so you have to wait in line. I didn't go downstairs to see if that had also been renovated. Stay tuned!

In 2024 I visited a particular library & the Allied Universal Security Services security guard in the pic perched himself on a wedge table behind the librarian's desk & spied on me using the computer for well over an hour. I turned around several times to glare at him & he arrogantly continued his spying, staring straight at me & the computer screen. I do not know why any of the librarians did not notice that unusual activity because I was using the computer closest to them. On a subsequent visit a few months later, I noticed this same adult male was intently staring out the window at the parking lot with no one else around and no activity as I was leaving, it seems he may have already seen me while in there. Over a year later, this African / Afro-Caribbean 50's-70's year-old, ~5' 9" Adult male is Still being Paid with Taxpayer Dollars at the same location. I noticed he lingers around me for longer than normal since then. Let me be very clear: * it would be very easy for this man to contact one of his acquaintances to follow me home; * this man who has been an adult for decades, in my opinion, very well knew what he was doing when he spied on me for over an hour & repeatedly singled me out since then to hover nearby; * if this man entitled himself to spy on me, a complete stranger, it is highly likely that I am Not the first person he has used his job/position to spy on & more distracted people would be an easier target. *It also begs the question of what his prior jobs/occupations were in his life for him to so casually help himself to prey on me. ~2016 Separately & nearby, an in-shape ~30's year-old African male suddenly tried engaging with me while I was running in a v-neck t-shirt & shorts on a sidewalk. I answered him perfunctorily. He jogged ahead & 2 minutes later, I came across him, spread out on his left side on the grass, perpendicular to the sidewalk & road, filming me with his cellphone. I was so shocked & angry that I called someone to pick me up, never realizing I should have recorded this male's predatory behavior. In the past decade, there are an increasing number of Hispanic, African, and some South Asian adult men who continuously stare me down on sidewalks & in public establishments. And by "stare down" I mean many of them repeatedly rake their eyes up & down my body in a definitively predatory manner. This does Not include African male teenagers, those boys actually interact with me normally. The problem lies with their disgustingly adult predatory males. 2 middle-aged Hispanic men, with their families present, leered at me for at least 10 minutes straight at 2 separate fast food restaurants. One twisted his head at an at least 120 degrees to continuously stare me down for 10 minutes. And if u naively think their families would have cared if they knew, The Hispanic Families Did Not Care. Same example on sidewalks. I had to notice Hispanic men lagging at the rear of their families apparently low-speaking to the other male, for both to turn & stare me down, while their women did not seem to care that their men were creeping on a stranger. Another middle-aged Central African male abused his USA employment to spy on me & to creep on 2 other young Hispanic females, one a Central American teenager, during the pandemic. To my knowledge he has maintained the same/similar shift to Marriott full USA employment & most likely bought a MD home, (he used his paid employee time to browse townhouses/houses real estate) while his Caucasian mid 50s years old Frederick, MD male regional manager boss John E. deliberately verbally threatened me, then took thuggish legal action against me a year later, with the help of their law firm repeatedly & unsuccessfully trying to get me to sign an NDA doc & another muzzling doc. Disgustingly, the Caucasian male boss John has a then-16-year old daughter; along with 2 total adult sons in FL & Frederick, MD; similar age to the daughter of his Central American female employee who I witnessed being creeped on by the African male employee. But this Caucasian male chose to keep his predatory central African employee employed while I have lived in fear of further vindictive retaliation since then.

The staff is helpful & very friendly. You get the reminder emails for when your items are due and messages about fun upcoming library activities. Items you have checked out do get automatically renewed up to the limit allowed. I really like their summer reading/activities program. My grandkids loved it. By reading books you earned cool prizes. There's always study rooms available and space in the quiet study room to go to. Parking is so convenient here compared to other Montgomery County libraries. I've noticed over the last few months, there's been more parked vehicles in the lot so I'm happy to see people returning to the library during their spare time. Would happily return once COVID-19 settles down.

I'm surprised I haven't written a review for this place since I've spent tons of times here sitting in the aisles, thumbing through books, deciding which were worthy to be part of my pile. Early high school me and me now have very different tastes in books, thank goodness. My favorite part of the library is the new non-fiction books section. I don't really know how the library system works, but I'm always so proud that this branch carries new, relevant books all the time. I feel like they keep us readers in mind when selecting. Buzzy books like Girl, Wash Your Face were there when I've looked for them. They have a few computer self check-outs here, so quick and convenient. Parking can get a little tight, but always so happy to see people in the library!
