4.5 Stars.... This…read morehas been my beautiful home town for many years. I gave much thought to this rating. It easily could be 10 stars because of it's beauty and amenities or 4 stars because of lack of mom & pop restaurants and authentic international food. This is the #1 planned community in Texas which is now an official Township. It was started by the famous George Mitchell a billionaire oilman, developer and philanthropist who had a vision. A little background of George Mitchell who resided in Galveston also. Because of Mitchell's tenacity, we today have experienced an unprecedented boom in domestic energy production in both Texas and nationwide. Yeah lower gas prices! Hopefully restrictions from the past few years will be lifted and we'll have even lower gas prices :)! He has given millions to his alma mater A&M University plus so much more. He had a vision and created The Woodlands on the edge of the East Piney Forest in Texas starting in 1974. A truly planned environmental friendly Township now. There was an overwhelming amount of vision on his part to make us the #1 planned community in Texas and also one of the top planned communities in our country. He has also created one of the nations busiest outdoor performing arts & entertainment venues, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion. They have symphonies to all kinds of rock and roll and any current genre of music. He's also responsible for resurrecting the Annual Mardi Gras Celebration in Galveston, The Hotel Galvez and much more. This wonderful man died in 2013 at the age of 94 but did so much in his lifetime. Quite remarkable man and an interested read if you so desire to google him! The Woodlands is home to over 122,000 peeps many who are lucky enough to also work at many of the larger companies hidden mostly by the the beautiful trees. The Woodlands has over 210 miles of hike and bike paths meandering through the different Villages and the number keeps growing. There are also 135 neighborhood parks with various amenities such as tennis courts, dog parks, basketball courts, swimming pools, ponds, barbecue grills, picnic pavilions, children's play equipment, fishing ponds (catch and throwback), etc. There are now 9 distinctively different Villages in The Woodland all having their own unique character and amenities. From doing recent research I have found that The Woodlands is approximately 72% Caucasian but I am proud to say The Woodlands is truly a global township consisting of peeps from almost every country in the world all living together in harmony :)! That is true beauty!!! If you're an ESL teacher we need you! Also the high school graduation percent of students is 97.1%. Most schools in the town are rated exemplary. We have three larger shopping areas outside of the 9 Villages. The Woodlands Mall, Market Street and the newer Hughes Landing on the water. We also have a beautiful Riverwalk with air conditioned tour boats, great restaurants, many non chain, beautifully lighted trees, newer Brownstones and a lovely park with free concerts and beautiful fountains. There are activities of different kinds every weekend most of which are free :)! So to the peeps in charge of the high business rents, please give the mom and pop international food restaurants a break. We do get tired of Americanized chain food. I'm enclosing a few pics from The Woodlands Township site. Feel free to add your quality pics of this beautiful Township also. Officially Yelp Review #402

They are not nice about it & any communication they send us is very threatening. For the taxes we pay to live here it seems they would be more courteous and respectful.
