We came back bright and early Tuesday morning around 8:00am and quickly discovered we weren't the only ones with the same idea. The line was already about 30 people deep, and by the time they opened at 8:30, that line had easily doubled. Once we finally got inside, things moved along pretty efficiently. We checked in, were given a number, and waited about 15 minutes before our number was called. The woman who assisted us was pleasant, reviewed all of our paperwork, and sent my son over to one of the computers to take his test. Fortunately, he made quick work of it and passed. We then had to wait to be called up again to finish the process, but everything went smoothly. All told, once we actually got inside, the entire process took just under an hour. That's not too bad considering government paperwork is involved.

My STRONGEST my strongest advice is to read read read and be sure you have the documents that are needed for your type of transaction. I advised this due to personal experience.,lol. Generally speaking, allow several hours. Don't try to squeeze an appointment in before work or at lunchtime. Yes there may be times when it's not busy, but you don't wanna take that chance. And finally, when you get up to the desk inside the door be the first person to say good morning or good afternoon or anything pleasant to the person behind the desk. It's magical you will see and continue doing that with each and every person you have to encounter. Overall, my visit was about one hour and 45 minutes. After the initial check-in after I received my number, I had to see an agent to review my application that I filled out after checking in at the front. Upon Kia's review and payment, I was then sent back out to the waiting room to wait for my turn for photo and photo drivers license. I did not need the real ID. I will say when I got to the photo desk, I was not acknowledged by the agent, but as soon as I said hello, my name is Sue what is yours , again It was magical! Another wonderful experience with Leonora.

THE PHONE NUMBER LISTED IS WRONG. READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU WANT YOUR APPOINTMENT TO GO SMOOTHLY…read more The Norristown PA Social Security office is actually one of the more efficient and well-run government offices that I've been to, but there is a LOT of bad info out there that could make your experience VERY annoying. TL;DR: Call 1-866-964-6305 and SET AN APPOINTMENT via phone. The office DOES NOT TAKE WALK-INS. First of all, the phone number listed on Yelp and Google is dead wrong. IF you call 1-800-772-1213 (the listed phone number on all the online websites, including the SSA.GOV Norristown office webpage), you will wait on hold for a LONG ass time. When someone finally picks up, they will tell you that there are no appointments necessary, and you should show up in person. DO NOT DO THIS. THE NORRISTOWN SITE DOES NOT TAKE WALK-INS. DO NOT CALL THIS PHONE NUMBER. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT. Instead - skip the 1-800 number entirely, and call 1-866-964-6305 during business hours. This will connect you directly to the Norristown PA office, and they will set up an appointment for you with a specific time and date. Before you go - go to the SSA.GOV website and follow their instructions on what documentation you will need. Bring ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS whenever possible, no photocopies of passports etc. Follow these instructions, show up early at your appointment time, and you will be in and out in as little as 20 minutes with no hassle.

Once you get inside the building (the line often snakes outside into the parking area) ask the guard that is just inside the entrance door if there is a separate line for "pictures only" and they may let you bypass the line. You'll need a camera card (mailed to you after you renew your license) to get a number. With the number, you can proceed directly to the "A" station to get your picture taken. If you need other services or didn't renew on-line, the wait can be 2-4 hours. (KOP DMV, if you are reading this, it would be really helpful if you set up a separate 'pictures only' line right at the main entrance.)

We especially liked the walking track around the large field hugging woods in parts. There was an icy patch down near a creek, but if you were careful to walk around on the grassy area, it didn't present itself as too much of a hazzard. If I lived in the area, it probably would be my favorite park for getting my steps in on a regular basis. The restrooms were closed for the season when we visited in late December.

I especially loved that there are so many options for where to hold an event - several rooms in the house itself, the charming porch out front, and the cool barn next to the house. I didn't know that the barn was on the property but I really liked its rustic vibe. (Though I could imagine in the fall the giant trees around it raining down nuts and other seasonal tree bits!) I also like that there's a hotel nearby for out of town guests. I mostly worked with Kate, who was very responsive over email and is obviously an expert in her field. She helped me realize that there's something to be said for the personal touch you get when working with a staff dedicated to one venue, rather than some of the big event companies who can make you feel like just another number. Ultimately I decided to go with the city vibe so picked a different boutique venue in Philadelphia proper, but I'd definitely recommend checking out Duportail, especially if you're mostly having a local gathering.
