No calls back after leaving VM messages to set up appointment. There is always an issue of this place being short-staffed. Rude and antagonistic front desk staff who then gaslight you and accuse you of being rude. Very defensive when asked about fees for visits and services. The Vet is rude and aggressive ! I believe they nickel and dime you there and I had taken 3 of my pets there over the last few years. Today was the end to supporting this business when the Dr. Decided to come out and aggressively confront me on their so-called discounted "brief wellness exam" when all I needed was a Rabies vaccine! I supposedly had an appointment at 3:45 pm however "another lady obviously got precedence who had an emergency with her cat"....ok, I was patient and didn't say a word! So at 4:10 pm the Dr comes out from the back and without acknowledging me as one of her customers, she laid into me "in front of her staff and another customer in the waiting area"....which stemmed from her front desk staff alleging I was rude and abusive in the phone call related to setting up this appointment! (During that phone call, I had shared my frustration in no one calling me back after I had left a VM 2 weeks ago and then I had asked were there any additional fees for bringing my pup in for her Rabies Vaccination? I was just trying to find out what the complete charge would be...after talking to one gal, another came on the line and accused me of being rude "because she responded to every voicemail..."...I was shocked by her tone and aggressiveness. Basically that was the end of the call to with my confirming the last appointment they had available on Friday, would be mine.") Sooo, when the Dr came out and started lecturing me on their discounted "wellness visit"... I just nodded affirmatively to what she said, but this seemed to trigger her more as she started yelling "and you can find a better fit after this!". I literally was scared of how volatile she became as I was shocked and nonverbal during her attack on me. She then yelled after walking away from me "you can go ahead and leave if you don't want to stay!". I did respond at this point and told her "No I've waited 25 minutes so I want to get her Rabies done"... (I had been told previously on the phone the reason they charge a brief exam fee was because under AZ law the Vet has to be present) Okkkkk, but then after all of this, the tech (who was actually very nice the entire time with me) asked to release my dog so she could take her back without me... I was firm about wanting to be with her, that she was already traumatized with being there on her 2nd visit to this clinic... And I was then told "I would then have to pay the full exam price!"if I was allowed to go back with my dog! Whatttt!?? I was now upset and suddenly the Vet comes out into the waiting area and "aggressively gave my dog the Rabies Vaccination "OH AND THERE WAS NO EXAM AT ALL! ...she then abruptly left and I could hear her speaking loudly about how I needed to find a better place to take her and how rude I had been!! Unbelievable! I would never trust this clinic and especially the Vet who runs this clinic to "even be around my animals again!". Again the Tech who I interacted with was very nice and professional with me the entire time. Always short-staffed Dr Holcomb...I believe I witnessed why today. I felt very unsafe at your business today...can't give you any Stars today! It's a ZERO! (Oh have to give at least one Star in order to post this!) Privacy rights violations. Belligerent, abusive and dishonest staff. I provide health care costs for Camp Verde canine residents who visit Montezuma, Anasazi, or YEAH Hospital. When transporting a client's sick cat to Montezuma, the staff failed to schedule the appointment they committed to when scheduling. When I arrived, Heather the anxious one up front stated that the health care company failed to schedule it, attempting to put medical responsibility on to someone other than the scheduler, her. It was insignificant, but she would behave the same way if it were an emergency, because she's just that type. The company then proceeded to call my landlord because one of the staff knows her, and claimed that I attacked her!!! TOTAL tweaker junkie story out of left field. Now hearing this story, communicate with Heather, and tell me I overshot on any of my judgements. read more

Great vet and staff. Very knowledgeable and caring. They were able to accommodate us as emergency walk-ins. We were the 3rd for them that morning. Costs were very fair and reasonable. We were in Camp Verde with our camping trailer and our old kitty Cali started vomiting and appeared to be severely constipated. We left a message for our vet in Phoenix and found this clinic online. We arrived just after the office opened. They were very empathetic of our situation and squeezed us in. After administering anti-nausea medication, fluids and MiraLax, she began feeling better and was on her way to recovery. We received a call back from our vet who also recommended giving her the MiraLax. read more

Paid in full. Never to return here after dealing with Heather Office Manager, and Dr Lana Holcomb Owner. The lack of people skills on their part. For example, on the day of the visit with my pet, I paid my bill in full as presented to me in good faith. However I received an invoice by mail that Montezuma Veterinary Service undercharged me by $16. The invoice also included in handwritten bold red letters the following "Payment is due upon service, please remit payment today! We have tried several times to call and have emailed as well." When all they had to do was mail the invoice without further comment. This underpayment is your mistake. At my visit I paid in good faith. I don't receive bills through my email. Again all you had to do was mail the invoice. In speaking with Dr Lana Holcomb, owner, she stated this is how she trains staff to send out invoices. Further, Dr Holcomb stated that she deals with many people who don't pay their bills and was tired of it. So she treats everyone the same. She seems to think we're all deadbeats. Dr Holcomb stated if I didn't like it I could change to another veterinarian, which I did. You may consider the same. read more

They have been marvelous both times I've seen them on an emergency basis. Once with my cat and an infection on her face that got really bad and the second time with my puppy with a rose branch piece obstructing his eating and breathing. I highly recommend this business. At the MOMENT of our dogs death while Delano held the shot, Holcomb burst into the door and yells, "Is this the dog that nipped our new girl that was holding him down?" While I was in deep prayer for the passing of my dog! She continues to scream, "Is he up to date on rabbies shots?" (He is) So they stopped everything and and left the room!! He's been sedated and on the edge but yet they literally left us hanging for a very long period! I was praying and wanting a peaceful passing but NO they were more worried about "protocol"! Holcomb then tells us that they'll have to cut his head off! While he's still alive and we're in complete tears! I asked, "Why is a brand new girl involved with our most important moment? I could of held him down!" Now they are talking of quintaine!?!!? (He sedated and dying!) So I asked, "Are you going to finish or are you going to try to bring him back to life to quintaine in a cage for 10 days?" After 45 min to an hour they said they would finally put him down but would have to cut his head off and take brain samples?! While we're grieving they ... Oh my.. Why did Holcomb have to tell us that right then, or ever? And I said "Then why the delay, I beg you to put him out of his misery and finish the job!" It was like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD! (And he IS up to date on his shots but they were done in Colorado before we moved here so they're not on their AZ records) Like other reviews; the owner Holcomb is horrible and the main cause of this nightmare (AND they could of followed protocol and finished putting him down and not yelled at us and been nice and not told us of the nightmare of cutting his head off AND taking brain samples!) I had a very bad experience at this Vet and fired them Have been going there since Nov 2016. The previous vets were good but this one just wants money. My dog was out of her arthritis med. She is 16yrs old and I just want her to be comfortable in her last months. They told me that she needed a wellness check because it had been a year. According to her records I picked up she had been in in Sept 2018. (That is 6 mon not a year.) They said they couldn't get her in until Fri, this was Tues. I went to the office to beg the Vet to give her pills until Friday when they could get her in. I wasn't allowed to peak to the vet, only the bitchy office Mgr. I was told that since she had a Friday appointment I could get 4 pills. I said that was great expecting to get the rest of the RX Fri. She proceeded to charge me $14 for 4 pills, dispensing fee. (The entire 2 month Rx is $40) I became angry and ordered the Med online. But the Vet refused to let them fill it. When I called about it they said I had to bring her in and get it from them. When I refused, they cancelled her appointment and dropped her as a patient. They are OUT FOR MONEY, no compassion or care for animals from this vet. read more

I brought my dog in for an emergency surgery on a Sunday. They made it there pretty fast even though it was after hours. My dog was attacked by another dog who almost ripped her ear off. They stitched her back together very nicely. I was nervous to take her to a vet I hadn't met before for a serious emergency, but the attack happened out by West Clear Creek and our normal vet is in Phoenix. I took her into my normal vet the next day to get her checked out, and they said Montezuma veterinarians did a really good job on the sutures. There were two DVMs there and both were nice. I especially liked the red head gal, I believe her name was Jennifer. Thank you Momtezuma Vets for helping my pup! read more

I had been there a couple of times with my dog and today I called to investigate solutions for my dogs highly aggressive behavior. Dr Lana Holcomb & all her staff were exceptionally warm and caring during our experience with them particularly in the last two weeks. We had a 11-year-old golden retriever diagnosed with cancer while having a black lab needing knee surgery for the second time. She was very cost conscientious yet understanding and caring for not only our dogs but also for my husband and I are going through the sad process of losing our beloved Golden Ret. I was passing through town when my dog started having seizures. I called to find out if I could get in right away and what the initial fee was. I had to explain the issue three times, once to the receptionist, once to the tech, and then to the vet. Really? The exam fee that they told me on the phone was incorrect. They couldn't do bloodwork in-house and had to send it off to a lab. Then there was a $25 blood draw fee on top of the "consultation" fee, which I have NEVER heard of and since I work in the veterinary field..well. I saw Dr Ellis and was beyond disappointed. Maybe it's because I am not from the area but I felt she was rude, she actually rolled her eyes at one point, I guess she thought I was too concered with my dog to be paying attention to her. She didn't tell me until I already had my dog out in the truck that she hadn't heard his heart...I guess when you pay the "consultation" fee an exam isn't really so important. I ended up with a huge bill, no medicine, no answers, or even attempted answers, and a negative attitude. I feel like they got their $300 and that's all that is important to them. read more

I was supposed to drop off my dog for a dental cleaning this morning, but when I got there, they didn't seem to know what we were there for. I was taken to an exam room, where I sat for 20 minutes before Tom came in and asked why I was there. I told him I thought I was just dropping my dog off and was beginning to wonder what was going on after waiting so long. His excuse was that two people called in sick today. Okay, not sure what that has to do with me though. Then I asked him a question about the estimate that I was never given in writing and why when I called for a verbal estimate, there was no mention of the x-rays that we had discussed on my preliminary visit. Here is what Tom said, "I'm just an employee here, I'm not the owner." WHAT? REALLY? I promptly took my dog and left. I guess being "just an employee" is Tom speak for, 'I don't have to do my job'. I was given a puppy that had parvo. I knew that Montezuma Veterinary Clinic would take a dog with parvo and quarantine them. Dr. Bason was waiting for us and we were seen immediately. She explained everything in detail to us and what to expect. She was right on with everything she said. My puppy is alive today and I'm not so sure he would be without Dr. Basons expertise, diligence, professionalism and compassion. I was welcomed to come by and see my puppy anytime and was contacted consistently and frequently with updates. The staff were kind and very understanding. I have since taken my puppy home and even though I live almost two hours away, I make the drive for even routine matters with all my pets now. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Bason and the staff at Montezuma. read more

This place has new veterinarians and new staff so disregard the other reviews from 2013 and earlier. Dr. Lana Holcomb properly diagnosed my 9 yr. old schnodle with Diabetes after two other vets; Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic and Canyon Pet in Flagstaff missed the diagnosis. In all fairness, Canyon Pet did pick up that he had a heart murmur, something that was missed both by Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic and Dr. Ohler in Cornville. Dr. Tom Remmler, former owner of Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic works here and he specializes in cats. Many of the staff members came from Oak Creek Small Animal Clinic.I just wish this place was closer to Sedona. read more
