Jerry showed up on time, listened to my concerns, and within minutes, he set up the ladder and checked out all three spots.

Quote was emailed and signed electronically after questions promptly answered by phone. Was told skylights (2) might take a week or two to arrive. 10 days later got a call that they were in and said they could install next day if that worked for me. On job day, I was concerned when they discovered rotten plywood, thinking this is where the price skyrockets, but it went up only $225 to replace the sheet, which I thought very fair knowing it added a couple of hours to the job. They started at 8am and after extensive cleanup were gone by 3pm. Project Mgr stopped in several time during that day, and helped us connect the solar power shades and remotes to our home WIFI network. The crew were respectful all day. Overall extremely pleased with the solar powered shades/skylights and vendor. Would definitely recommend both to anyone in the future. If one regret. We deciding on light filtering shades and wish we had decided on room darkening instead. One last comment. A week after the job complete I went up to the roof for my annual gutter cleaning. I was shocked to find this gutter was completely cleaned out by the crew during the job! Who does that? And they didn't even tell me to try to score bonus points with me - they just did it because it needed to be cleaned and they had handy access to do so!

My home is basically surrounded by trees. I was requiring gutter cleaning about every other month…read moreso I decided to do something about it. I'd gone online and read numerous horror stories about companies that rip people off on gutter guards but I needed them desperately so I decided to bite the bullet. I called NJ Home Maintenance and scheduled an appointment for an appointment. A few short days later they arrived at the house for the estimate. They dropped off a few samples along with an explanation sheet explaining the benefits of each. I was rather surprised by the price which I consider to be more than fair. I hired them on the spot and could not be more pleased. The work performed, punctuality and communication were all without parallel. Speaking as someone who is very meticulous with the maintenance of their home, I can recommend them without reservation. Kudos much thanks.

We've used NJ Home Maintenance Services a few times now and are never disappointed. The original estimate was simple and they are very quick to schedule you and give you an estimated time frame (weather dependent). Overall, they did a great job. I will say, they are a bit on the pricey side compared to other companies in the area. We had gotten an estimate for some powerwashing/roof cleaning and their quote came in the highest so we unfortunately didn't use them for that service. However, they do a fantastic job. I'm sure the quality of their work is there. We just didn't to spend so much money at the time. They also take credit cards which is a plus!

We accepted their recommendation and recently they completed the work. Today I removed our xmas decorations and found many scraps from the gutters. There were sharp pieces of metal in the garden, walkways and lawn. These pieces are sharp and dangerous. We have grandchildren that often play in the yard and these pieces could cause serious injury. I would not recommend NJ Gutter.

I approved the estimate. After 4 weeks, I called them because I hadn't heard back about scheduling the job. They indicated that due to weather it would take awhile to get to my house. I do agree that the weather was difficult, and I understand the delay in scheduling the work. But when they finally came to complete the agreed-on gutter cleaning, the office called me to say that the job would cost about double what I was previously quoted. I did not interact with the service team that would do the work at my house. They did not come to my door. The office apologized for the misunderstanding about the price. It seems to me that there is something wrong in their estimating process if it takes 2 months to follow-up on an estimate and then they change their price at last minute. I did not use their service, so I can't comment on whether they can do a good job or not. But doubling the price at last minute (after they had 2 months to come out and change it earlier in this process) did leave me feeling like I didn't want to work with them. I was told by their office that they create estimates based on satellite image photos. When I spoke to the first person on the phone, she said that I have a lot of trees. I agreed. And I was fine with a reasonable price to clean the gutters. But then on the day I wrote this review, I was told that my house is bigger than described. I never described it. They looked at satellite images and came up with the price based on that. So at this point, I'm not sure where the breakdown in communication occurred but I feel letdown by the process. And there was no fixing it because from my point of view, they just changed their price when they got here and my option was to pay double or not get the job done, so I did not have the job done. I wish things had gone differently. I hope my experience is a one-off, but I do want to share that the estimating process feels confusing and disorganized from what it could be.

Working with Blue Nail was an exhausting, disappointing, and infuriating experience. Blue Nail…read morelacked professionalism, accountability, and transparency throughout. They made multiple attempts to mislead us and only followed through when faced with the possibility of legal action. Save yourself the time, money, and stress. Avoid Blue Nail at all costs. Blue Nail came recommended, so we reached out for an estimate. Early on, my father felt their team was defensive and difficult to communicate with. I didn't initially see that, so we moved forward. Our home is a Victorian farmhouse with a steep roof and a flat section where a widow's walk once existed. We wanted to restore it and initially asked them to hold off on installing EPDM in that area so we could add the posts ourselves. They declined and instead issued a change order to include the posts in their scope, which we accepted due to time constraints. After signing, we began asking about their installation method, expecting the posts to be properly framed for safety and durability. Once we started asking detailed technical questions, their demeanor noticeably shifted. Shortly thereafter, Blue Nail informed us that they intended to withdraw from the contract, citing permitting and zoning variance concerns. This was a significant red flag. It is the responsibility of any reputable contractor to verify all necessary permits and zoning requirements prior to issuing a formal proposal. We believe they had done this research but were attempting to use technical jargon to intimidate us into backing down. We investigated the variance claims ourselves and found them to be inapplicable. We confirmed with the local building department that a permit could be pulled, which we were more than willing to do. Despite all of this, Blue Nail still tried to walk away from the contract without valid justification. We were prepared for legal action after months of delays and an attempted breach of contract. Although Blue Nail eventually agreed to proceed, work didn't start until September, 4 months after our deposit. Issues: Recurring Leaks: Blue Nail had to return three times to address water intrusion in the same area--raising real concerns about long-term structural damage. As roofing contractors, your main job is to create an impervious barrier between the structure of the house and the elements. This shouldn't be an issue, let alone a recurring issue. Improper EPDM Installation: The membrane over our newly renovated bathroom was not secured to the plywood substrate. My father saw it lifting in the wind, leaving raw plywood exposed to the elements. This is an inexcusable oversight that could lead to serious water damage. We completely gut renovated this bathroom and included many layers of insulation, therefore it is hard to know if there was any immediate damage without opening up the brand new gypsum ceiling. Exterior Staircase: The debris removal process caused deep gouges and scrapes--well beyond surface damage--on our back staircase. A third-floor interior ceiling was also damaged during post installation. Cosmetic Fixes: They repainted the stairs but left a large paint stain on our concrete pad. Minor damage, but emblematic of a careless approach. Dumpster placement: the dumpster was placed on an angle in the middle of the driveway, blocking our cars in the garage making us unable to drive to work. Change Order for Soffits: They discovered extensive rot during the roof removal. We agreed to pay for repairs, but the price seemed unreasonably high. We suspect the quote was inflated due to the contentious nature of our prior interactions.

Within 5 minutes of the consult I was quoted at $20,000 for just the removal of the stone siding, which is only on the front portion of my home. It is roughly a 1,800 square foot home, so pretty modest in size. I was floored at the astronomical cost for just the removal of one side. I obviously cut the consult short and wished them the best. By far the most outrageous and highest quote I received thus far.
