Many…read morepeople have told me that schools in the Mainland are nothing like Hawaii, and I'm sure that is true, but still, I wanted to send my daughter to a private school. We looked and looked and looked. There were many schools that looked good, but their class sizes were so big with only one teacher I was concerned my daughter would get lost in the crowd and would not be able to get what she needs in education. I came across Brownell Talbot in my research and remembered that a few of my classmates from Creighton went there and they were super well rounded individuals, so, I made my husband take us to the open house :) At the school, we found out that their class sizes in the elementary were usually around 10-18 students with two teachers per class. They have a well rounded curriculum where they have everything like math, art, history, but they also learn French, and for PE they learn swimming! That's way more than I ever had in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten! Well, I finally ended up convincing my husband that we needed to send our daughter here! All the teachers she has had so far were amazing! They are so friendly and caring and definitely know how to teach young children. My daughter always comes home telling us all of the new things she has learned at this school! We love Brownell Talbot and as long as we live in the Omaha area, our daughter will go here.

I have been surprised at my child's abilities and understanding of subjects that such a little person is obviously capable of learning if given the opportunity. They incorporate the parents into the program and we can stop by to see what is happening. There are also video and photo posts available to the family and that has been a fun addition to my child's experience there. Thank you Dundee Montessori for helping my child to succeed and congratulations on providing such an incredible program.

As first time parents we wanted the best for our kid, and when doing our research we were told Legacy was one of the top schools in the area. We reached out and explained our situation before we applied, saying our daughter needed extra attention and they said they were more than happy to oblige. Within 3 days of enrollment we received a call from the principal that they were not able to accommodate us and that we would have to withdraw our 4 year old from the school. It's an absolute shame to see the kind of steps backward that was taken, the lack of communication that has been displayed from the few faculty members we met. The teacher barely gave notice to us at the meetup. We were dismissed almost instantly. As a black man I can't help but see discrimination at play once our kid was seen. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

We are a bit on the over protective side, and we have a hard time trusting strangers with our kid, but the people at this location do not feel like strangers at all. The director at this location really has her act together. All the teachers are really nice and knowledgeable. They are always learning about something new in fun, age appropriate ways. There is always something fun going on. Our daughter LOVES going to "school" as she calls it. She has made tons of friends there. We have since added on Phonics to the cost of her tuition and she loves that, too. They made popsicles one day. They had a cute little Halloween party (no costumes though). They are going to have pajama day, crazy hair day, and a bunch of other fun things like that. They studied the science of dirt. One of the classrooms was growing some kind of plants. Every week has a new theme for what they study. Themes include things like dinosaurs, occupations, etc. They did a cute little recital in the winter and sang a snowflake song. We had a parent teacher conference where her teacher showed us all the things she has learned so far, what she is proficient with, what she is a little behind in, etc. Any time we have any concerns we can just pop in and talk to her teacher about it so we're all on the same page. It's been really great. We are glad we found this daycare. Our daughter loves it so much, that when she is too sick to go she stays home and plays "school." I feel good knowing that she is having a great time AND learning so much. I really feel like this is helping prepare her for real school. I feel like she is in a safe place, being cared for by very capable people who genuinely care. My only complaint so far is that the only actual credit cards they take are Discover, which is just weird. So I have to pay with my debit card. But at least they send me a handy email reminder every week saying my payment is due, with the link to go online and pay it. It's very convenient to pay online.

Our first…read moreexperience (with a different Montessori school) was incredible but that school was bought out and the family first community and vibe quickly dissipated. After that, we were lucky enough to come across Montessori Academy of West Omaha. First and foremost, I have always felt as though each individual family is treated not only as family (as cliche as that sounds,) but the school understands each family's unique wants and needs. I am a teacher and wanted my kids home with me over the summer months, this is one of the only Montessori schools in Omaha that not only allows that, but encourages it because "what's best for your family is best for us!" even though that translates to a loss in tuition for the school. I have never once thought of Montessori Academy of West Omaha as a school that only sees my kids as a tuition bill, which I cannot say the same for the other school we attended. This school truly embodies the Montessori philosophy of "follow the child." Our daughter looks forward to school, her friends, and being challenged where she is at individually. The small class sizes at Montessori Academy of West Omaha allow for my daughter to receive direct, specialized instruction. We all know kids are not the same, not all kids are interested in the same things, this school has proven they can nurture each child in growing academically, socially, and emotionally. With my experience in Montessori for the past 10 years, trust me when I say, you will NOT be disappointed in sending your child(ren) to this one-of-a-kind preschool.
