Childcare: I am…read moresorry to report that today, when I picked up my grandson, I was advised by Pam, of Pam's Daycare, that the backdoor to the facility is never locked during the day because of the inconvenience of the locking device. The door must be locked from the outside only with a key - which means someone must then walk around to the front to enter the daycare. When I pointed out that was unsafe, she told me that "nothing bad has happened yet." Good grief. Also the facility needs to install a privacy fence with a locking gate so that the children cannot be seen from 50th Street or escape from the yard. Every neighborhood harbors sex offenders, right? When these security breaches are addressed, I will update this review to reflect the improved conditions.

There are so many things we enjoyed about our time there. The CDC has its own separate, secured entrance. The friendly office staff greets you and your child before letting you in through another secured door. The classrooms are large, inviting, and clean. The facility also has a child-friendly cafeteria, gymnasium, and giant outdoor play area with playground equipment, age-appropriate toys, and a seasonal garden. The part I loved most about St. Luke's were the learning experiences my child had in each of her classrooms. When my child started, as a post-Covid baby, she was not used to being around peers or following school routines. She also had a speech delay. The teachers at St. Luke's created a warm, inclusive, and positive learning environment that allowed her to be herself and grow. They were open and willing to work with her speech therapist and frequently communicated outcomes with me. Their daily schedule included a healthy amount of age-appropriate learning balanced with play allowing her to develop academic skills and make friends. The icing on the cake were the musical, art, and sports opportunities she was able to participate in. I'm happy to report that my child no longer has a speech delay and is more than ready to start school in the fall. I highly recommend St. Luke's to anyone looking for a great place to support and develop your whole child and set them up for success in kindergarten.

It's a large facility complete with cafeteria, gymnasium and a fantastic outdoor play area that has playground equipment and garden. All of the staff and teachers are fantastic. We found everyone to be friendly, attentive, communicative, and understanding. In each of the two classrooms my son was in he had a wonderful experience. The environment was such that he could be himself. They also do a great job of scheduling activities which allow the children to learn thru lessons as well as thru play. I'll also add that they handled the pandemic very well. They communicated the changes, reduced class sizes, required staff and parents to wear masks and provided sanitizer. I recommend anyone looking for a great daycare to consider St. Luke.

They do not pay or even treat their Black employees the same way they treat the white employees. The director is superficial, saying the script of what is to be expected, but it is not believable. We witnessed several new teachers come in bright and beaming and ready to engage with the kids and quickly saw them become dim and frustrated with their lack of support from the director and manager. The preschool teacher was outright awful, talking about breaking our kid's face in front of them and all their classmates. When we brought this to the leadership team, they assured us they would have a conversation with the teacher, but no other action was taken and they quickly swept it under the rug. Later we learned that we were not the first family to leave because of this teacher. Additionally, they did not provide us with the documentation of our payments upon our request and cost us time and money when we had to reschedule our tax filing appointment. Very disappointed overall.

We receive a detailed report card and if something needs seeing to, the communication is fabulous. If ever we need to talk to a carer or the owner they have always made themselves available pronto. As first time parents it is reassuring to see that our boy is in a clean, nurturing and loving place, free to explore (safely) and respected for his unique individuality. We are kept abreast on any changes and look to Donna's as a great haven for our Bubba!
