Great school, my kids have learned so much since being there. Traditional style of learning that teaches independence.

There was once a 5-year-old little girl. She was a sweet, quirky thing, well-behaved and sensitive,…read moreactive and adventurous. She loved lizards, bugs, horses, and drawing more than anything. Her mom and dad were so excited for this little girl to start school, to see all she'd learn, and to learn all she'd become. However, the hopes and dreams these parents had for their little girl would not come to pass. After a short time in kindergarten, the little girl started getting poor conduct grades for "not paying attention. The school set up the first conference and began to tell the parents how wrong their little girl was. The girl began coming home upset, stressed out, scared to go back, and claiming that her teacher hates her. The parents tried ADHD meds for the child. In 6 months, the little girl was on 4 different medicines. Upon taking the first dose, she was listless, glassy-eyed, and had sobbing episodes. She didn't enjoy the critters and the horses and the drawing. The smiles went away. And she did no better in school. This precious little girl is Emma, and she is mine. In December 2014, we started at ABC Montessori. Their love for children, interest in fostering the individuality of the children, and in the development of the child's brain are immediately evident. The passion they have for the Montessori method is inspiring. They have restored our daughter's motivation and joy for learning. Today, our daughter seeks answers. She explores. She is respectful. And she absolutely loves her school. There, she is a helper, a friend, a great student, loved and praised by her teachers, and extremely well-behaved. She sits down to her work daily and focuses on what needs to be done. She completes book reports and science fair projects. She knows things about culture and history. She reads "chapter books" and she has straight A's!! She laughs and plays and does not want to be picked up at the end of the day. I have my little girl back!! For all of this I am thankful for the Montessori method. But even more so, I am eternally grateful for the careful, thoughtful planning, attention, and intuition of the ABC Montessori staff, and for their concern and care for the whole child. My daughter WILL be successful. In fact, she already is!

One child entered already academically advanced, particularly in math, with promises and expectations of continued acceleration. Despite public praise at graduation, there was no actual academic progress during enrollment. When concerns were raised, responsibility was deflected onto my son for "not adjusting to the Montessori approach." Instruction in this subject was led by someone without any previous education experience, which only became clear after the fact and over time. But too late for my son. My other child fell behind almost immediately. We were repeatedly encouraged to "trust the process," despite chronic teacher absence and an overwhelmed high-school-level classroom assistant. Administrative decisions appeared driven by concern for the school's image rather than educational quality. Later, academic gaps were reframed and displaced onto the kids as possible learning disabilities (later proven untrue) or failing to adjust to the schools teaching method, rather than acknowledged as resulting from inconsistent instruction. Requests for records and academic transparency were ignored, even when made by an outside educator attempting to help our child catch up. This lack of responsiveness was alarming. Overall, we experienced misrepresentation, inadequate instruction, and a consistent deflection of accountability. Families should ask detailed questions, request documentation of the schools claims, and proceed with caution before enrolling.

My child has been going to Riverstone for a bit more than a year now and I couldn't have found a better place for her to learn, explore and grow. I so wish this school was offering high school too! The hands-on activities and interactive learning environment keep him engaged and excited about discovering new things. Every time we walk outside, I am constantly getting questions about the sky, the moon, leaves, different animals, just anything he sees and reads. He is constantly curious and has so many questions. As a second-year student, I've seen such growth in his independence, he picks out his own clothes, makes his bed, cleans up after himself including sweeping and vacuuming if necessary. Mrs. Shahnaj is incredibly attentive and is always encouraging my child to explore at their own pace. The mixed-age classroom is wonderful for helping him develop social skills, and he is learning to communicate and cooperate with children of all ages. My son started when he was 3 and immediately Mrs. Shahnaj noticed areas he needed to improve on with his social and emotional development and started to work on correcting it. She also let me know things I can work on to improve his emotional development at home and now I can truly see a difference. We are still working on some things but there have been major changes. Montessori school operates differently than public school, which I love. The children go at their own pace and each child focuses on what they need to develop. Each child is working on different things, but every child is still exposed to all areas. My son has learned so much in his year and a half he has been there. He has developed skills I know he will use for the rest of his life. I couldn't be more pleased with the development my child has experienced during his time at Theami. It's been a wonderful experience, and I'm excited to see how he continues to thrive in this supportive, enriching environment!

I went to a Montessori perschool and wanted our daughter to have that experience.Having multiple age ranges in a class benefits all the students for different reasons. I think Montessori method with student driven learning is wonderful for curious children. The student to teacher ration is 10 or 11 to 1 with 3 teachers per class. I love that this school is willing to push the kids to the extent each child is willing academically. Our daughter had been home schooled/cared for by close friends for years and was well beyond the PreK curriculum before even starting. The next year, when our daughter was assessed for kindergarten in a Cobb County public school, she scored high and was placed in a more rigorous class which pleased us. The teachers and staff also assist with social learning. Our daughter was a bit behind the others socially; most of whom had been in daycare or this school versus home care/school and were well socialized. Teachers and staff worked with my daughter and my husband and I and kept us updated. Also, my daughter is being raised as a Jehovah's Witness which posses unique challenges around birthdays and holidays. The staff was understanding, accommodating, and had a willingness to learn, understand and work with our daughter and us that astonished us. I have never worked with a more flexible and helpful staff. The Director and Assistant Director were almost always there, unless I'll. We had several tours including just stopping in. Montessori schools do not put their monies into beautification; they put it into hiring and educating exceptional teachers and staff. Please remember that when you tour. They treat the children and parents with love and respect. We were completely impressed with them.

At one point they claimed my daughter had lice and would consistently send my kids home after they had been treated and cleaned. We even had a note from a professional clearing my daughter and they acted as if they knew more than the person who did it for a living. Come enrollment time, they use fear based tactics to get you to re enroll your child. "You'll lose your spot, they dont have many left, you will miss out". We re enrolled then decided to change schools. When we told them we were going in a different direction, they billed us $18,000 for an entire year my children DID NOT ATTEND. I currently need the transcripts for one of my children and none of the teachers will respond to me. It is very frustrating as we are trying to get her tested for possible learning deficiencies and they have basically ghosted us. Except for their debt collector who expects us to pay for services not rendered by LifeSong. LifeSong is not the school you want to send your child to if you're looking for a quality education or safe space for your child. They just want to wrangle you into an enrollment contract they will not let you out of and then try to bully you into paying up if you decide to leave.
