For fast, great service and medical care go to the East LA Montez office they get you in in and out. Doctors are wonderful. The receptionist ladies are great. They don't rush you or give you the runaround. I appreciate their help with my son yesterday considering I had to go to two other offices, took me half the day but thank God we found out my son has an ear infection and got medication. The office staff here is a revolving door. Always rude. They are never on the same page. I had the fill a physical form for my son to be in school. I waited 3 weeks and no call that it was ready. I show up asking for it and they LOST the form! And then one of the girls at the front desk blamed the other one for losing it. Came in today it was insurance issue. Supposedly someone called me Friday saying they notified me. I showed them no call no voicemail left. If I was notified why would I show up to my appointment. Only ones keeping me here is Dr. Tran and Erica. But might be time to go somewhere else. This is ridiculous! read more

I had pulled a muscle during a week long UTI, the strained muscle was getting better and 3 months later I was lined up to see Roxann Wuest. After explaining how during the UTI 3 months prior it hurt to pee and so my muscles tightened 6 times a day. Without any friendliness she said, "a man cannot pull any pelvic floor or any muscle in this area because a man cannot get pregnant, I think you have prostatitis and you need to take 500mg Ciprofloxacin twice a day for a month." I told her I was in the middle of finals and I was one of the top students, I didn't want to take something that could mess me up, could I wait to see a urologist to confirm I have prostatitis because I've been testing clean. She responded yelling at me, "You can wait but I would start taking it right now! and then when you see the urologist if he says you can stop taking it then you can stop taking it!" A urologist would take me a month to see. I really dont know what it was that made this woman want to destroy me, but Cipro at 500mg almost killed me, I ended up in the ER, I could not sleep for more than 3 hours a night for the first 9 months, my nerves were twitching all through the night for 2 years straight, my muscles tore everywhere, I couldnt lift a gallon of water. When I called in the next day I was suffering damage she kept insisting for me to keep swallowing pills. I just dont get why she disliked me and tried to ruin me, I'm a stranger, I help people, I care about people, I get straight A's, I love for others, I treat people as if they were myself. Roxann Wuest does not have her patients health in mind. Stay safe and stay away from her. I've never been assaulted more rudely by anyone in my life. My only assumption to why she hated me is that I appeared healthy and good looking, and for some reason she projected hate on that reflecting her own insecurities. 75% of the office staff, who I have dealt with at this medical group, is subpar. The wait times to get someone to help you are ridiculous. If you leave your number for a call back they do not return your call. One week ago I received a medical bill for services rendered almost 2 years ago - I don't even have this insurance anymore as I changed companies January 2024. Pretty obvious someone is not doing their job in the Billing Dept. In California you only have 12 months from date of service to bill for medical office visits. I can't talk to anyone at the office because after being on hold over a certain amount of time, the call automatically goes into the message center and no one calls back. If it wasn't for the Doctor I see, I would find another office. I have also indicated to my doctor how bad the staff is in his office. read more

There's been many times that I call to make an appointment and every time I leave a call back message (my phone number) they call and hang up. Forget waiting in line, you'll be there for over an hour waiting. I guess they hang up to prove to the patient and possibly have it in record for the insurance that they do call back. Not a huge fan of the nurses or ladies in the front desk at either location ( Whittier and Norwalk ). I feel like they need more experience especially when drawing blood! The girls in the front (Whittier specifically )see you standing there and still talk among themselves. ( this happened to me yesterday I walked up and there was no one in line but i still waited there standing to even be acknowledged, literally not one of the three girls that we're at the computer screens even looked at me for about two minutes before having me come forward and ask about my appointment time). My appointment was at 3pm on 1/26 just incase the the management wants to talk to the girls that were working, hopefully this narrows down the three that had shifts at that time. I am a huge fan of Alex Tran, he is literally the only reason why I still go to montes medical. He is very smart and knows exactly what he's talking about! He's so caring and helpful! I am a very paranoid and anxious person and every time I leave the doctors office after visiting him I feel a lot better about my situation because I know he diagnoses me correctly. I won't name drop but all the nurse practitioners ( new and old ones, I've been going here for about 3 years ) in Norwalk don't properly diagnose. If I could give them 0 starts I would. What is the point of coming to my kids appointment on time if an hour has passed and haven't been seen. Not only that but the receptionist said they didn't know how much longer it's going to take. I requested a female doctor and they said it had to be montes a male doctor and that I could not switch it to a female. This Medical Group insists you come in for a physical every year. When the blood tests results are in range, but suboptimal, their attitude is see you next year. I don't think they know what optimal is? If I'm having symptoms and the results aren't in the optimal range that could be why? This is far from the best care. If you call the Whittier office phone and push 0, it redirects you to another office instead of Whittier. Learned this after several rounds of calling, getting hung up on, being transferred, and waiting a lot. I would love to review Dr Montes or Dr Tran or some other MD, but I've never seen them. I've been a patient for years but the times I've gone in I only get a female PA. For an annual physical, they couldn't see me for several months and it wasn't even with my primary doctor. When I had pain for a couple weeks they said the Dr wasn't available until over 1 month. This is why people end up going to the ER. If you are a new patient looking for a doctor, I recommend another location. I'll probably do the same eventually. read more

I came from a quack who threw out our concerns about my daughter head shape forever. Turned out she had craniosynostosis. After she had surgery, we sought out a new doctor and landed here. It was a completely different environment. They listen to every concern, they investigate every concern, and you don't have to fight tooth and nail to get further testing done. Once they do everything they can do on their end, they will do what it takes to figure out what's going on. I never have to worry about my kid being unheard here, and for that, I truly am so thankful. I would really like to say that Lucy at the whittier location is absolutely fabulous. She takes her time, is very patient, knowledgeable and she actually listens to you. Lastly, the fact that I can text them and get phone consultations and appointments set up is very helpful. I have poor working memory so I can just shoot them a text request whenever I remember and they get back to me as soon as they can. Seriously so helpful. read more

The East Los Angeles and Whittier locations have been mine and my kiddos dr. for years. my whole family goes here. However, there has been such a change in the staff and attending physicians and also in how they do things. I went in for a physical almost a MONTH ago. I called in last week, to see where my medication was, my referral and to get my lab results (which i had to go back to give blood for, as they let me leave without informing me the blood draw was still to be done. I was then told after ME calling THEM that the Dr. I had just seen, who apparently had JUST started, was no longer working for them. They didn't see a request for my meds, no referral and couldn't even tell me my lab results. Cut to a week later, dozens of broken promises to call me back, STILL NO LAB RESULTS at the very least. I used to love coming to them especially with my kids, but now, id rather take my chances at the urgent care. This is just ridiculous! read more

Got super angry, decided to wait, when I was 1st in line, it goes again putting me 4th in line. Seriously??? I'm rescheduling because I have coronavirus. I have been waiting to see if it got better but i have determined that this medical group is just terrible and careless. I work in a primary care office so i have a pretty good idea about how this all works. I saw the mediocre reviews prior to scheduling but took it with a grain of salt since I know reviews can be pretty one sided. However, I cannot fathom how regardless of what time/day, you sit on the phone for 45 minutes to schedule an appointment. I called to set up a new visit twice (morning and afternoon) and waited on hold until it said no one was available and to leave a message. I called the next day and got through after about 30 minutes. I had questions prior to my appointment and called 3 times in a day, 2 of which I waited over 40 minutes again. The only reason I got through the third time was because I selected I needed medication renewal and someone answered within 15 min. I even text the number that they constantly recommended doing on the voice recording while I waited on hold, no response. The facility itself is old and looks pretty dingy, not to mention the bathroom was gross for a medical office. The staff and provider I worked with were nice so that's been a pleasant surprise. I tried to log into the patient portal and it did not send a code to my email or text to allow me to even use it. I went into the office for an appointment and scheduled a 4 week follow up and had them reset my portal password while I was there. I realized later that both my email and my phone number they put on file for me were wrong. Additionally, she scheduled me for a 4 week follow up on 11/4 which was 1 week after the appointment? When I tried to reschedule the appointment online the doctor wasn't listed but there was one with a similar name and it doesn't allow you to select a time, I called for help and she said that doctor doesn't work there anymore and the one I needed isn't on there so using the online services to avoid having to speak to someone in the office is useless? I also told her about my issue with the 4 week follow up and she said she doesn't know how the portal works nor can she help with the appointment change. I called 4 times and it went to a voicemail after 15 min so in total to get this rescheduled it took about 70 minutes. I don't understand how this place operates, but they are very unprofessional so I do plan to switch because I can't imagine being aggravated like this when needing to see a doctor. read more

If I could leave zero stars I will. I called their # at 8:30 am (opening time) and per their recoding they were closed, called again at 8:31 am same result. I finally got through at 8:32, first in the queue per their phone system- waited over twenty mins despite I was the first person in the queue. After giving them my info they said a doctor will call me that morning, waited until noon no call received. I called again and now they told me the doctor would give me a call at 1:45 pm- that call never came. Called back at 2:05 pm waited twenty mins call was disconnected, called again and finally got through to someone who said the doctor sees in person patients first before making her calls. Mind you I've been waiting since the am. I got the phone call at 2:45 pm from Doctor Maria Vega who acted like she didn't know what medication I was talking about once I asked for it but then surprisingly remember and she also blamed the staff- at this point I'm upset bc I had someone drive over an hour to come help me pick up medication and they been waiting for the medication to be issued to the pharmacy- needless to say my help left before I got the call from Doctor Maria Vega. Their protocol was unprofessional and when I told Doctor Maria about this she got upset and started to talk over me in a higher voice. I do not recommend this place. And also I called in May for a physical but no availability until August. My husband had an appointment because he needs to see the doctor so he can get new prescriptions for his medicine and making sure everything is ok with his blood work, he was stuck in traffic he called and let them know he'll be late 15 minutes and when he got there they didn't want to see him, if was nobody in the waiting room and when he has his appointments he never gets seen at the time his appointment is. read more

One star because the system doesn't accept 0 stars. Montes Medical Group (and Dr. Tran in particular) afforded me the worst experience I've ever had with any provider. Twice within three months they scheduled me for a physical that wasn't done. On the first, after they had drawn my blood, they said, "Oops! We made a mistake and scheduled you for a child's physical." I was understanding (you know, we all make mistakes). However, they rescheduled me so that I could have it for real this time. I showed up three months later to my second appointment. I was told, "You're not due for a physical. If we do it, the insurance won't pay." And doctor Tran's brilliant solution was to suggest that we did it anyway, but I was going to have to pay for it. But that's not all. Months before, I had been referred to both a gastroenterologist and a dermatologist. I chose not to go to the latter because if the pandemic, so when I came back to see Dr. Tran and asked for a re-referral TO THE SKIN DOCTOR, he referred me instead to the gastroenterologist. What, for a second colonoscopy?! This entire office is negligent and/or incompetent, and everybody tries to pass the bucket to someone else. They never apologized for their screwups. The cherry on top? They kept my copayment both times. If you're seeking a good medical provider, if you value customer service, if you expect some consideration when you're dealing with something as stressful as any threat to your health, DO NOT GO TO THIS MEDICAL OFFICE! read more

Bad experience w/ Dr Ocampo, I have really bad rash on my skin, & she asked me what was my problem? & I told her I've been really itchy on all parts of my body & it's been happening for about a month and don't know what's causing it.
