Utterly useless staff. The employees never answer their phones, and they never return voicemail…read moremessages left at their individual extensions, even though they contacted the taxpayer first and asked the taxpayer to call them. I had a similar negative experience in the past when I had an in-person appointment for an unrelated matter. It appears the only thing Social Security employees do is sit around all day and collect their fat paychecks, and earn years of service for their fat pensions. In infuriates me that my income tax dollars are going to fund these useless, lazy Social Security employees.

One of the most uncomfortable office experiences I've had. A couple months ago while waiting, there…read morewas an older couple there with their grandchild who had a small toy making noise. The security guard loudly called them out in front of everyone and said kids and dogs were not allowed, forcing one of them to wait outside in the car with the little girl. It just felt unnecessarily harsh and embarrassing. Not everyone has childcare available. Then today, the same security guard was constantly yelling at people about phones and noise levels, while ironically being the loudest person in the entire office himself. The environment felt tense and uncomfortable the whole time. Even some employees were raising their voices and speaking with bad attitudes. I completely understand wanting people to be respectful and quiet, but there's a difference between maintaining order and making everyone feel intimidated. If someone's phone vibrating or someone coughing is considered disruptive, employees and security should also be held to the same standard of professionalism and respect.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to the Salinas area a few years back. Reading the…read morereviews for the Salinas PD really surprised me. If you think these posts are depiction of a poor force, you need to travel more and experience what other communities and countries endure. The PD is poor because you called in a loud music complaint - (probably one of many they receive nightly). And you can't provide an address, really?Right there, bottom of the list. My guess is if it was that important you could have figured it out. The PD wasn't there to stop a motorist from running down a pedestrian? Guess what... happens everyday in the Bay Area and PD can't be everywhere all the time. Yes, I agree traffic enforcement needs to be stepped up but more importantly, people need to take responsibility for their actions which includes being aware of what's around them. Put down your cellphone, put your make-up on at home, leave the burger in the bag till you stop the car. Distractions feed the problem. In closing I'll offer, what prompted me to visit this Yelp page was an experience I had last evening while out with friends. We were in a local pub and in walks 4 Salinas PD officers. Of course the mood was silenced as most people looked. Turns out they weren't there for a problem, they were there to be visible and prevent any potential problem. They worked their way through the crowd, stopping to talk to people, shaking hands, then they walked out. It was a good thing and I believe most people in the pub that evening would agree with me.

I have seen inside the jail where the police bring in the drunks from the community. Rather than showing respect, some of the officers just laugh at them in front of their face. Not a good thing when the poor victim is suddenly placed in an unfamiliar place and about to be locked up in a cage. They can be really rough at times with the detainees. At times they may need to be aggressive if the detainee is resisting. But oftentimes they need to be less aggressive. My friend was once hired to entertain at the annual Christmas party. He called the day before to verify, and the officer who hired him started yelling at him and told him he is not to come. Thus being cancelled without being properly notified in advance. Another friend who worked there was suddenly fired because he had a medical condition affecting his performance. They sent five police cars to his house to tell him he was terminated. They took all his police gear and treated him rudely. The neighbors were all concerned with all the cars. They only needed to send one car. Be cautios dealing with this place.

I asked them what their RAS was and they claimed trespassing. So I left while they were talking to me threatening to cage me. If you back all the way out from the experience and look back: citizen minding his business, LEO stops citizen to say 'you have to leave' while citizen was trying to leave... see the logic yet? I asked 'Can I do that?' They say 'Do what?' I say 'Leave?' They say ' No ' ...... These were people hired by Monterey County. People who can't see their own actions, who don't realize they created a problem for them to solve. Is that called job security? I'd file a complaint but we all know how that's going to unfold. They are not bright enough individuals to police themselves.
