Utterly useless staff. The employees never answer their phones, and they never return voicemail messages left at their individual extensions, even though they contacted the taxpayer first and asked the taxpayer to call them. I had a similar negative experience in the past when I had an in-person appointment for an unrelated matter. It appears the only thing Social Security employees do is sit around all day and collect their fat paychecks, and earn years of service for their fat pensions. In infuriates me that my income tax dollars are going to fund these useless, lazy Social Security employees. read more

One of the most uncomfortable office experiences I've had. A couple months ago while waiting, there was an older couple there with their grandchild who had a small toy making noise. The security guard loudly called them out in front of everyone and said kids and dogs were not allowed, forcing one of them to wait outside in the car with the little girl. It just felt unnecessarily harsh and embarrassing. Not everyone has childcare available. Then today, the same security guard was constantly yelling at people about phones and noise levels, while ironically being the loudest person in the entire office himself. The environment felt tense and uncomfortable the whole time. Even some employees were raising their voices and speaking with bad attitudes. I completely understand wanting people to be respectful and quiet, but there's a difference between maintaining order and making everyone feel intimidated. If someone's phone vibrating or someone coughing is considered disruptive, employees and security should also be held to the same standard of professionalism and respect. read more

Had an appointment, needed to provide some paperwork. Went first to window 3, looks like the intake window for simpler matters. Lady was very nice and helpful, directed us to go to window 9. Went there later, again, the lady was very nice and very helpful, got everything done. Most appreciated. As a side note, yesterday called the national appointment line, was very lucky and very grateful to get an appointment for today. read more

If you're trying to speak with someone, make sure to make an appointment to skip the line and long waits. Everyone was super helpful. Limited staff so be prepared to wait a couple hours if your walking in without an appointment. read more

Once I was able to talk to someone, they were extremely helpful . I was able to resolve a problem logging in to my SSA online account.

Get here by 8:30am. Wait wasn't bad. Less than an hour. Bring a face mask regardless of vaccine status. Everyone here was nice. I could see them getting groggy towards the end of the day especially having to deal with rude people. read more

Worst service ever. I left to get something from my car which was right outside the door. The security went out, spit on the floor, picked up the sign and closed it, all while looking at me. I knocked and he said I couldn't go back in, after I had already waited an hour to get called. He told my number already passed (it had been less than five minutes since I went out) and that people ahead of me had already gone, well I look in and the person after me, was still sitting, waiting to get called. Horrible to do this after I had already wasted an hour, just waiting, all to not be allowed back in. read more

I wish SOO bad I could give these idiots a zero They're rude, no help, phones that they know drop calls and appointments only which you can only make by phone ... of which are not working. Show up and the wanna be cop monitors the door is a jerk and shuts the door in your face after pointing to a phone number... of which I told him and called to let him hear that it offers a recording stating they're aware they are dropping calls. Salinas Location - I would not wish this visit on my worst enemy. Only one office serving much too large an area. Always packed, slow service, no one offers assistance when you walk in the door. Avoid this place if possible. read more

A ridiculous borage of paperwork to reapply for my disability. No one believes me and they are all at a loss for what needs to be done. I have been waiting since October for another disability payment to come through. No one seems to care if I stay homed or have medical care. read more

This place is horrendous. I had to wait and hour outside just to get a chair inside, still waiting. Waited another hour and twenty minutes to be called to the window for them to check my social security number to then be told OK thanks now go sit back down and wait to be called. Waited another hour, finally got seen only to be told there were twenty people ahead of me, do you want to wait or make an appointment? I made an appointment. She was extremely nice. Social security needs to really start listening in on calls from contracted representatives. Just spoke to a woman by the name of Kim , she was extremely unprofessional and had disgusting behavior . Tele-service you need to have a direct supervisor listen in to Kim's calls during August 16th 5pm-5:30pm. Kim would not listen , she continued to dodge responsibility for her disgusting attitude and conduct when I requested a supervisors name she started elevating her voice and continued repeating herself, despite the time of the call she had no intentions of honestly doing her job she wanted to talk at customers/clients so she can end the call. Instead of having integrity and transferring the call she continued elevating her voice by stating the call is recorded. Since Kim made that statement as a company you all need to listen to her recorded call. A supervisor should reach out - it is a disservice to social security and individuals with disabilities to have to navigate a system with bitter and unprofessional staff- the fact Kim is even employed to help others is shocking and shows the desperation , by no means do I believe this is her first complaint or first time being a disgusting person . But since you all hired her you should also question yourself as a company or manager as to why you hired people who obviously do not need to be in human services . read more

Like wtf no respect for people and no human decency AT ALL!!! So rude and disrespectful!!!! Having been to this office previously and had a very good experience, I was more than a little surprised to see such unprofessional behavior by a representative. After waiting for my name to be called, I approached the designated window #7, occupied by a middle aged man with an ancient "Rolling Stones" tee shirt. While waiting I had seen him yawning and acting disinterested in his duties. As I approached he opened his mouth to express yet another yawn. I had all the appropriate documents ready and was told I would have to wait another hour to process my paperwork. This place was so inefficient. They were just standing around talking and browsing the internet while hundreds of people patiently waited. There needs to be some revision of staff. I came in for a simple replacement card and they took an hour and a half to even finish my business there. Not long compared to some people but still could have been much faster had they been all working hard and fully staffed. read more

Lowest efficiency I have ever seen. One of the representatives took one hour to take only two interviews. A lot of time they were just chit chatting. I am not American but where I come from, efficiency is so valued. I understand the customer service but come on, so many people are waiting. I called the Social Security office on Blanco St in Salinas. I waited less than ten minutes on the phone. The woman who took my call was very personable and helpful. Clearly explained what needed to be done. When I received the forms, she had filled out the parts of the forms that were required by S.S. and highlighted the parts that I needed to provide.
