It offers members genealogical research, a database of old records and maps, archived obituaries, family histories, and a great deal of other things. You can attend presentations from guest speakers, and a number of other events that are regularly scheduled. Currently there are exhibits on the impact of WWI on the area, as well as a history of toys from 1970 to today, and an exhibit of the changing styles of wedding dresses from 1888 to 1948. Next to the building is the Village of Yesteryear, which is a group of several refurbished old buildings from the area that have been relocated here. They include a church, school house, train depot, general store, cabins, etc. They offer daily tours through the summer months. A few years ago I was a guest at a wedding service performed in this small (and very un-air conditioned) church. In this church I've also attended a series of talks based on the letters from a local Civil War soldier to his girlfriend back home. They were a very interesting look into his thoughts as he moved from one location and battle to another. In the last of them it was revealed that he was killed in battle. It was given by an author and former Gettysburg Battlefield tour guide that has retired to Owatonna. It was outstanding.

An absolutely stunning place for a wedding! Came here for an October wedding, and I absolutely fell…read morein love with the rustic farm vibe. The little barn houses, the field, everything was inviting and elegant, yet rustic and homey. The outdoor ceremony area was also great, with benches set up, a beautiful gate for the married couple to walk in through, etc. The staff were super atttentive and friendly. My only gripe was that they did not seem well equipped to handle super cold weather (there were some blankets) but the ceremony was super chilly and I wish the heat was turned on more in the dining area.

As a guest (part of the bridal party) at Legacy Hill Farm, I was impressed with the venue! I had arrived early to get ready at the bridal suite which was in one of the little buildings. It had the restrooms inside on the first floor & the bridal suite on the second. There were only three of us bridesmaids, but even with others stopping in to see the bride, there was plenty of room to get ready. The best part was that there was a lot of natural lighting & lots of mirrors for us to use. I didn't see the grooms suite but there was a separate building for that as well! The wedding ceremony area had luscious grass with seating benches for the guests & big wooden doors for a grand entrance. It was nice for the wedding party to be able walk down & then have a pause (with doors closed) as the bride stepped up for her entrance. The reception was then held inside the big barn building just off to the side from the ceremony. The space was large with wooden tables & chairs set up for guests. Although we didn't use it, there was a firepit next to the building for use as well! Drinks & appetizers were served before the reception started at the side barn building. It was just a few feet away from the main reception. My favorite though, was the barn space that was first seen when entering the venue from the parking lot. Our friends had opted to utilize it for photos to put inside the guest book! Overall, a cute venue. Since I was a guest, I don't know any of the logistics of touring / reserving the space but my friend (the bride) did say that they're booked up pretty much every weekend!

Chris Moe DJ'd our wedding reception in August 2013, and I am writing this review as the bride…read more Stop. Right. Now. Your DJ search is done. Chris Moe is your guy. Chris (yes, we call him Chris now) is a fantastic DJ and a great guy. We were planning our wedding from the East Coast and had two meetings with Chris (one over the phone and the other on Skype). He came to our reception venue the day before the wedding, in order to see the facilities ahead of time (since he hadn't done a reception at our venue) and he was set up way ahead of time our guests arrived. Chris is ultra organized. And, he answers all your questions before you even realize it! He has an 11-page packet where he dives into everything: do you want a bouquet toss? are there family sensitivities? songs you don't want me to play? games you do want to play? All those questions are covered in the packet, and he goes through them with you a month before the wedding. He keeps the reception moving, and watches the clock so you don't have to. Chris made sure he had all our "must play" songs-- and even downloaded one our groomsman requested right there. We've heard horror stories of awful DJs. From what they wear to how they act. Chris couldn't have been more professional. (He was even in a tie, despite the fact he had to set-up and take-down his equipment.) If you're planning a wedding- or any other event that requires a DJ- give Chris a call. He'll reply promptly, and he is a joy to work with. We cannot recommend him enough.
