Silver Spoons made everything happen, put the numerous gorgeous bouquets that people brought away in the perfect vases, which Scott or his team somehow found on their own without bothering me. They made everything look delicious despite the unbelievable heat, and then, on top of everything else - everything WAS delicious and delightful. The food was fantastic. And Scott Tessler and his team all talked to our guests in such a nice way. It was fun to have them there. We have used Silver Spoons intermittently over the years - for our daughter's wedding in Malibu in 2015, and now again, to introduce her baby to our friends and family. I'm beginning to think we should do this more often - the results from Scott and Silver Spoons are outstanding. After our event was over, exhausted, we came back to our kitchen, and discovered scads of perfectly wrapped leftovers - Steve and I simultaneously went hunting for that incredible mustard - oh, no, did they leave us some? Yes! You left us a significant amount, nicely wrapped up. And you cleaned up the kitchen beautifully! Even mopped! Everything was left in perfect order. I've been enjoying all the leftovers now for a few days. We have already given Silver Spoons' contact information to one guest at the party, who was very impressed with its work. Many of our guests were already familiar with Silver Spoons from their experiences at University Synagogue (now part of Wilshire Boulevard Temple). The food, the presentation, interaction with guests, following of dietary/allergy restrictions - all perfect. We had magnificent vegetables for the vegans, gluten-free dishes of all kinds that were superb, regular dishes that were wonderful - the food was great. And the service is exceptional. Our baby grandson had a grand debut in the Millers' back yard, and Silver Spoons Catering was a big part of that. Silver Spoons did a wonderful job, and we thank them for it.

    Urban Taco - What's cookin'?

    Urban Taco

Is that a churro in my pocket, or do I really like Urban Taco?…read more Ordered Urban Taco for my wedding, July 2012. I did my research, as you assumably are doing now. A big reason to pick Urban Taco is that the website was straightforward with food packages spelled out. Other websites ask you to call for a quote, which is time consuming, inconvenient, awkward, and questionable, as you wonder if the prices are negotiable or not. "Hey, yeah, for YOU, I'll throw in the lettuce..." When I confirmed my quote, there were no surprise fees added, like "apron tax", "taco processing", or "fart disposal fee". Just tax. And was told there would be a $55 travel charge, but that seemed reasonable considering their drive down the 405 from Chatsworth to Seal Beach. Francine is not, how can I put this--- "excessively bubbly". On a bubbly scale with champagne in a blender being the top, she's closer to ice. I'm not saying she isn't friendly, but do not expect excessive bubbly-ness. She is, however, straightforward, clear, precise, accommodating, and contacts you via phone and email, and I appreciate her service. I didn't have time to evaluate them precisely, as I was kinda busy publicly vowing to 88 friends (and a guy named Ryan Alari) my dying eternal and legally binding love to some hot chick, BUT here's what I remember: They were on time. They were friendly. The presentation was good, and the food... The food was good and plentiful. We got the steak, fish, and shrimp tacos. For sides we got refried beans (not as healthy, but I wanted some WEIGHT on the plate) and Mexican rice. We made our own salad and opted for their guacamole for the side, which is just too pricey to buy on your own. It was a great call: I HAVE NOT HAD BETTER GUACAMOLE anywhere- it was chunky but creamy and fresh, a bit like Chronic Tacos. Get the guac as a side! I do have to say that the churros were cold. Yummy, but cold. (Maybe they were too close to Francine... I kid!!) I won't mark them down for that since we ate later than expected, so maybe that's my fault, but I advise that you get a chafing dish for the churros, unless that's something they will provide. Another reason for five stars: we had more than enough food, and one of my biggest regrets that night, besides inviting Ryan, was not designating who took the food. I woke up the next morning with a trunk full of car meat. It haunts me to this day that I did not eat it all.

We had Urban Taco for lunch today in our office. This was far, far from that...huge trays of *EVERYTHING* with tons of left-overs. Usually our meals are to feed about 40 people...our office has about 80 people and there was so much left over that we opened it up to everyone else. There was easily $800-900 worth of food delivered, but I think they may have only charged $500'ish. The individual who coordinates the department lunches said that the order came in under budget! Truly amazing. We will definitely be using them again in the future - everything tasted great. I LOVE businesses like this...they don't charge much, but they get tons of repeat business and are in high demand because of customer loyalty. It's an alternative way of making a lot of profits...versus other restaurants who charge a fortune and then wonder why they start losing customers. They served 4 kinds of meat for the tacos, plus tons of beans, rice, tortillas, and salad. And a big pan of cookies as well (unexpected, but a nice treat.)

The portion was pretty good for our group size. We even had lots of leftovers. For some of the food items: -Chopped Turkey: Both the white and dark meats were juicy, succulent and flavorful. However, I do wish there was a larger meat ratio relative to all the sides. It also was a bit messy with the juices, so I would recommend even tighter packing. -Mashed Potatoes: Perfectly creamy and buttery. -Stuffing: Soft and flavorful. -Green Bean Casserole: Creamy and the green beans were cooked well. I would suggest putting the fried onion topping on the side so it could be crunchy. I'm not the biggest fan of Thanksgiving foods and I think this spread was great! Ordering and coordinating the order was relatively easy. I do wish the email etiquette and general communication was more professional though. We also received our order a bit later than scheduled, but I was told they were short on drivers for that day. I also liked the insulated bag the food came in. Overall, a good experience here and I would consider ordering catering from here again.
