Aw man, this place used to be so good before the rebrand. I was over the moon to have found a quality vet in town, and we loved them! However, things have degraded in a huge way since the rebrand. We have somehow gotten slotted to see Dr Molly instead of Dr Maggie (who is so cool, but doesn't perform surgery). Dr Molly has such awful bedside manner, has signed us up for multiple rounds of tests instead of consolidating them into one visit, botched a blood draw and made us come back the next day, and it took no less than three calls to Spring Meadow to ensure our referral was sent to Bozeman. Each time we were told it went through and to NOT call Bozeman. Each time, they had neglected to do it. I called Bozeman, against their advice. They confirmed that no referral had been sent after WEEKS of requesting it. Called again and they finally, finally sent it--but no apology to us. I'm over it. There are better vets in town. It doesn't help that after many, many appointments for testing recently, I just received an email from them that it's time for our annual preventive visit. Get it together. read more

Care and professionalism was acceptable, but vet wanted to go forward with extensive testing. It seemed like the vet was more concerned with not leaving any money on the table than with treating the scary infection in the most straightforward way. Went to another vet that administered antibiotic immediately and cleared the issue up in about one day. Won't go back. read more

Excellent compassionate care. When I had to have my great dane put to sleep...he was too weak to move and the staff went far out of their way to come out to the car to end his suffering. The entire staff was competent, professional and very caring about the matter and I could not have asked for better care. I see other people giving them bed reviews and I just wanted to set the record straight. It's because of this great standard of care that I continue to come back to this great vet clinic. Wonderful place! My first experience with Montana veterinary specialists was with my mom and her dog. They had just moved to Montana and needed a good vet as her dog was elderly and still recovering from a surgery (preformed out of state) and needed stitches removed, as well as other health concerns. We called several different offices and no one was accepting new clients and were not very helpful in pointing us in another direction but when we contacted Montana Veterinary specialist the receptionist was so sweet , kind and willing to help. From the moment we walked in the door we new we would be back. Dr. Brenda Culver is a sweet soul who genuinely cares for her clients. She brings light to dark situations and her kindness, honesty and quality of care is unmatched... I visited my mom a couple days before Christmas from Texas and brought out dogs. Our new puppy ended up with a UTI and my first call was Montana Veterinary Specialists. They made sure we were taken care of even last minute a couple days before Christmas. I highly recommend this office and would travel to see Dr. Culver. read more

I am an extremely picky person when it comes to vets and has been through 4 vets already in town when I came to MVS. Dr. Sarah has been a godsend she is kind compassionate vet who cares about her clients she is extremely knowledgeable. The receptionist are always so excited to see my dog and come cuddle her when we get there. I will for sure be bringing my dog here for as long as I can! read more

I really loved this clinic for my last pet, Dr. Brenda was great and communicated well especially at the time of his death. I have since had 2 wellness exams for puppies at the vet, without even being able to talk with a vet. My dog had an eye injury, I had to drop him off, again no call from the vet, other than to pick him up. My pup was neutered today, I was also worried about hip dysplasia. The tech calls and says pick up the dog after 1 with no update on how he is doing. No communication on the hip, I asked them to call if they thought he needed an x ray. No call. The pup did get an x ray, after all, I asked to talk with the vet for one minute to the front office, it was like I asked fora big favor and it was a huge imposition. Brought the dog to the car, went back inside, asked to talk with the vet. I was upset with a charge when there was no communication . She was mad, I asked about the hips., and x ray. She did not see them or evaluate the gait. I informed her that communication was bad, and I could no longer go them because I I had not talked with a vet about my dogs the last 4 visits. Things have changed here significantly and I'm pretty disappointed . I guess I must be wrong, if I pay money, I should be able to at least talk to a vet for the service rendered. Now communication is only through the vet techs. I still have no status on the hips read more

This is the second time I had a bad experience, the first time was when I took my dog in to see the male doctor, Dr. Culver, a few years back, after my regular vet referred me to him. She couldn't figure out what was wrong with my dog. After $3000 and five days later, I went to pick her up. He didn't know what was wrong with her, but said she was doing better. I could tell she wasn't better just by looking at her. I took her home and she continued to decompensate, I had to force feed her to get some strength in her, but it didn't do any good. So I took her back to my own vet who did one more exploratory surgery. She found nothing and I had to put her to sleep, it broke my heart and spirit. I was referred again by my vet to see the female vet, Dr. Brenda as she has an interest in eyes. I was satisfied with her work. I decided to have my cat spade after she told me my kitten would be monitored all night and she had special tiny equipment for a cat this small. I decided to have her spade her instead of my regular vet after she told me these things. A week later I dropped my kitten off in the morning with the understanding I would be bringing her home that day. So I waited to hear from the clinic how the surgery went. At 1:15 I still had not received a call so I called. At that time I learned that my kitten hadn't even been spade yet! The receptionist put me on hold to ask Dr. Brenda how things were coming along. She told me, they were just putting her under and getting ready. I let the receptionist know I wasn't happy because I reminded her that I was going to take her home that afternoon. I asked her to please call me after the surgery to let me know how things went. I waited and waited and by 3:00 I still hadn't heard anything, so I called once again. The receptionist again acted annoyed, put me on hold to see about my kitten. I was told she came through the surgery and was in recovery, then I was told I could pick her up at 4:30. I was upset about the way they handled things because past experience with other vets, out of courtesy always called after surgery to let me know how the animal was doing, this clinic did not. I was diplomatic about it, I did not yell or was rude in anyway to the office staff. When I picked up my kitten, Dr. Brenda informed me that her staff told her I was upset about the way things were handled, and if I had a problem I could talk to her not the staff! Then she proceeded to tell me I could see their policy manual! What did that have anything to do with it! I just wanted to know how the surgery went! Then I was appalled when she told me that she was the ONLY VET THERE on duty and she was taking care of other regular clients and emergencies that came in because they came first! I couldn't believe my ears! My huge concern is how could a vet ethically and professionally schedule surgeries when she is the only vet on duty? This is not only unethical, insane, ignorant, and mind boggling but plain WRONG! How can you put an animal under anesthesia, and be in the middle of surgery, then stop everything to take care of other business? I will never take any of my pets there again and will steer others away from them! Just because a vet has a new, nice building and latest equipment doesn't make them a better vet. Dr. Brenda is full of her self and her staff causes problems that aren't there. I think as pet owners we have a right to ask questions, if they don't like it, then that's not the right place to take your beloved pet! read more

I am writing this to give massive kudos to the veterinarian who helped my family dealing with a tragic loss. Our chow mix, named bear, was brought in last month for a lump on his rump about the size of a babies fist. She had observed it a few month earlier and said it may desolve itself and go away, but, if it is cancerous, it can be removed for a high cost and it most likely will not stop bleeding. Sadly, we couldn't afford such a cost, but the risks were too high as it is. So, We decided to wait it out. Sadly, the bump grew, so we took him back. She grabbed some core samples and quickly realized it was a bleeder, which ment we will lose our dog to this, so we took him home and prepared our family for the news. The small needle punctures stopped bleeding. Since bear absolutely loved riding on our 4-wheelers, we took a family trip to some trails near Mt Helena. Bear happily hops on and ride with my anywhere. I say " load up" and he goes. He seemed to perk up a bit for a few days, and even ate his food better. Then today, his bump, now the size of an orange and now licked bald by bear, now was bleeding. Remembering the vet saying his bleeding most likely would not stop, we called family to say goodbye. At 2 pm today, we put him down, with 4 family members present, even our 8 year old boy. What really grabbed me was, the vet was so tender to bear, and to us. After she admistered the injection, bear never flinched, the vet said for us to "take as long as you need", with tears in her eyes. She dimmed the lights, then left the room. Few minutes later, we walked out, the vet was right there crying. She was deeply sadden with us for our loss. She gave my wife a long hug, then me also. Yes, we were crying. I didn't think I would, but sure enough, this 44 year old military veteran cried with his wife and son. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your tender loving service. You really cannot place a value on genuine compassion like that. Would I recommend this vet? What do you think? read more

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They managed to fit me in for emergency care for my dog. He was in pain and super nervous, but they had such wonderful handling knowledge that they were able to calm and comfort him in his time of need. I am truly thankful for this business and their excellent services! read more
