Took my dog in because she had eaten a whole bottle of ibuprofen. They made her throw up then sent her home and she went septic. We had to admit her to a hospital in billings and she barely survived. Please DO NOT take your animals here for any sort of emergency. They lack knowledge. read more

I like the staff at Bridger Veteriniary Hospital, and I have used them since 2015, but I am no longer a fan of the services because of their cost. I have seen them double and triple their office visit charge just in the last few years. Today, we took our two kittens for their rabies and one other shot. The cost for the vaccinations were $40 total each kitten, but they charged an office visit fee of $160 for the two of them, even though they gave them their shots together - one visit to the office instead of two separate visits. So total of $240 for a few minutes in the office. We paid $30 each for the first shots a few weeks ago, which brings the total new kitten shots to $300 altogether. Thankfully, the office visit cost was covered by the Animal Shelter because we adopted them. We are done with Bridger and will shop around for somewhere more affordable, if there is somewhere else. read more

Had to put my cat down and took 3 days to get in. Than only gave him one shot and he screamed. Usually a shot to relax than the fatal shot. Than brought my other cat in because he couldn't walk on front right leg on an emergency visit. Said he did an X-ray and he could not find anything except some arthritis. Arthritis does not start instantly. Now my cat's leg is upside-down. Paw is up instead of down. Don't believe he spent the time on doing a thorough X-ray. Should have checked shoulder. 20 minutes and over $400.00. Would not go to the same doctor. Been going there for almost 25 years. The doctor I had was lousy. read more

We had to say goodbye to our sweet dog. We had never been to Bridger vet before but they were able to get us in. The staff was kind and compassionate and the vet made sure we knew what to expect and never made us feel rushed. We were able to cuddle her throughout the process and were given time to say our goodbyes in private. Worste vet I've ever taken my dog to. They gave my dog back still sick TWICE. On top of that I wasnt given medication, instructions, or an itemized list of what was done. The vet didnt even come out. The receptionist just handed me my dog and a bill for 680.00. I always paid my bill and when I called and told them I wanted my dog seen and had gotten insurance they denied me service and told me they'd send my dogs records to another vet, knowing there are no vets taking new patients APPARENTLY having to actually accept the insurance wa," too much of a hassle". Their customer service is pretty horrible as well. If I had another option I'd never have called them again after the last time but like I said no vets are accepting new patients. So when my dog dies because he has an infection I cant get antibiotics for that will be on you, a veterinarian, that actually chose a carrer in helping animals. Clearly they are just greedy and dont care about the animals at all. DONT TAKE YOUR PET THERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT HIM/HER. This industry needs a change. I have been a client for 15 years but I will have to say that since Dr. Keith retired the clinic is failing their clients and most importantly our beloved pets. Dr. Travis should not be trusted and is negligent, unprofessional, and has no business treating small animals. My 8 year old hound was literally dying on a early Monday morning and nobody would answer their phone so after driving to the clinic and rushing in to say that I needed to get her in the staff just stared at me and said well can you stay in your vehicle till someone is ready. My daughter had to carry in a 65 lb dog by herself and nobody would help her! Let me back up here....I took her in for a scheduled appointment 10 days earlier and expressed major concern with how she was acting and I knew something was going on. Dr. T tried to tell me that she has Cushings disease and he wants to take x-rays. Puzzled I left after making her x-ray appointment with the understanding she would just be sedated. On the next Tuesday, they actually gave her a general anesthetic (WITHOUT RUNNING THE MANDATORY BLOOD PANEL FOR A DOG OVER 7). When they called afterwards they said she needed to stay till 3pm but within 20 min of that call they said PLEASE come pick her up, she's making too much noise (baying). After the x-rays she never ate again. I called Dr T after a couple of days to reports this (knowing that it was not just residual from the anesthesia that many days later). Again, he dismissed my concerns and instructed me to give her Pepcid through the weekend. Early Monday morning is when she really went down hill, her gums were completely white and she couldn't even walk, thus, the immediate drive to the clinic Monday morning. It took them 15 minutes to even come into the room for the emergency and after finally taking blood saw that her calcium levels were off the chart! Dr T comes in the room, pointing his finger at me, claiming that he figured it out and now claims she probably has Addison's disease. For pete's sake, which is it Addison's, Cushings, are we done guessing yet. After asking why he didn't run blood work on her before general anesthetic - he response..."did you request it?". Oh my gosh really? Isn't it your job to know! After being completely confused by his behavior and answers, I said that I had been up all night watching over my girl and had gotten no sleep. His response - "well neither has my wife"! I could not believe what my ears were hearing! Worried sick about my girl I had to leave her there (left at 7:30ish) and paced till I finally got a call at noon saying she was perking up but had bloody diarrhea now. At 2:30 he called and she was gone and wanted to perform a necropsy on her so that I could have closure. I said absolutely not - you are not touching her again. My girl was no where near her end of life and I firmly believe that she would still be with me if he had listened, done the blood panel before anesthesia, and given a rats ass. Thank you for listening and I hope no one has to go through what I did and she did. Be careful if you chose this clinic and you might want to see Dr. Steve if you do. They take fantastic care of my 4 year old boxer. He(my dog) actually gets excited when we pull up because he knows he's about to get lots of loves. Whether he ate a bee and his eyes are swollen almost shut or he has a limp we are worried about... We took our cat here after he was showing some signs of a urinary tract infection. Bridger got us in on the same day I called even though they were super busy. They kept our cat overnight to get samples and such, gave him meds and some special food to help prevent future issues. I went to pick up our kitty expecting a huge bill but they were very reasonable! I never saw the Dr, but my husband said he was very nice and really knew his stuff - my husband had total confidence in him. I talked to at least 4 different staff over the phone and in-person when I picked up our cat, and they were all SO incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I was a bit surprised as another reviewer mentioned that our cat's exam seemed pretty short and they didn't want his history or records from past clinics - but again, my husband went to the exam rather than me and he isn't really what people would call talkative. I took my two cats to Bridger for a year before switching them to Alpine Animal Clinic on a recommendation from a friend. One of those cats had been treated for a "perpetual ear infection" at Bridger (this included medication, being sedated and having her ear flushed multiple times, and several office visits). I was not pleased with the diagnosis that she was always going to have this issue with her ear because of mite damage before I adopted her so I wanted a second opinion...I mean, I was pulling chunks of stuff out of her ear daily, even with the "medication" they had given me. For her one year check up I took her to Alpine where the vet took one look in her ear and said "that looks like a polyp in there." This is apparently a pretty common thing in cats and had gone unnoticed for over a year at Bridger, not to mention the fact that they had been in her ear MULTIPLE times to clean it out deeply and no one seemed to notice. The vet at Alpine let me look in her scope at the polyp compared to the healthy side and even my untrained eyes could tell that her one problem ear looked red, inflamed, and had a rounded surface. Getting this polyp removed should be an easy thing if they can just get it through the ear cavity however it may be severe enough that they need to remove it surgically since it has been growing in there for awhile. Needless to say I am more than a little upset at the over $500 I spent at Bridger over the last year, the trauma of knocking my kitten out to clean her ear out more than 3 times, and the lack of diagnosis on something that is apparently pretty common. I will not be taking my pets back there again. So unhappy. read more

My daughter took him with her when she moved out of town. He is back with us because he is uncomfortable around the Grandbaby. It is not fair to my sick dog that they have one vet, but will schedule at least three people for the same time. All about the money and not the care. But maybe no surprise. I have lived in Helena two years now and one of our first tasks was finding a vet for our aging Black Lab "Roya". The staff is super friendly, the vets knowledgeable, and prices are very reasonable. Our old girl just had to have some lumps removed and managed to tear some stitches on her side while playing tag, along the fence, with the neighbor dog. I called and they advised me to come right in. They saw Roya, as a fit in, within 5 minutes, and put in 3 staples for no charge. The vet gave me a "all is looking good" call in the parking lot and we are on our way home within 30 minutes of arriving. Awesome!!!! read more

I would highly recommend Bridger to everyone whether for care of house pets or larger animals. My family and I very recently endured the loss of our 15+ year old Maine Coon. Just a week ago we were faced with the fact that our little girl was become very ill and was suffering. Because I receive Ssdi, my finances are very tight. I would not have enough for diagnostics and treatment; let alone having to put Cali down if treatment failed. I made a call to her regular vet but they were priced more than I could afford and did not have a same day appointment open for euthanasia. I turned to Bridger knowing how many in our community love and trust this hospital. From my very first conversation to the feelings of helplessness and uncertainty...I was treated with dignity and compassion. And more importantly, knowing we could not accompany Cali on her last few minutes because of Covid, the staff member reassured me that my little girl would be treated very compassionately. I set her appointment for a couple of hours later and it was determined that not only could I afford the procedure but the cremation and return of her ashes. From the reassurance, patience and understanding of the staff to the thoughtfulness of their sending us a handwritten sympathy card to the beautiful name tagged bag which held the certificate of cremation and a velvet imprinted bag that had within it both the tin of ashes and a small wooden box with Cali's paw print on the cover, a gift pin inside and a tuff of her beautiful calico fur....We were overwhelmed and all of this assisted us in better enduring such a traumatic event. I have had several issues with Bridger. First and foremost is they NEVER answer their phones. The lack of communication is TERRIBLE. I brought my two cats in to be spayed, asked them not to abort if either of them were pregnant...instead of calling me and telling me they didn't feel comfortable with spaying one (although they could not "feel" fetuses)- offering other options like maybe a sonogram or blood work to verify (which I would have happily paid for) they just didn't spay, didn't tell me and even though I called about 15 times to find out how they were doing before someone finally answered and was told they were both doing good...we were totally surprised when we went to pick them up to have one spayed and one not. An appointment I already waited over a month for to get them in. Not only that but my kitten (who was not spayed) was left to spend the night for no reason where I don't even know if she was offered food because she was housed with her sister who had just undergone surgery. Again just a complete breakdown and lack of communication. Most people view their pets as family members...this is not acceptable for how I would want my family member treated. Surely this is not general practice. There are many good Doctors at Bridger but unfortunately the overall experience between the over crowded waiting room, to the over worked front desk staff, and the lack of communication has ensured that I will never return to the facility. read more

Let me start by saying I have experience in veterinary clinics, and know the inner workings of them. That said, my experience here started badly last week when I called to schedule my dog for her vaccines, nothing major, but I do have questions as I like to know something prior to seeing a vet for the first time (especially since I just moved here and have no idea about any of them here besides the reviews on yelp). I called the office and the lady was very short with me, you could tell she was irritated, in a hurry, and didn't care to be on the phone with me. I was so flabbergasted I almost hung up right there and never looked back, but the reviews on here made me think that well maybe she is having a moment, as those do tend to happen in clinics. I went in today, wasn't welcomed or anything (it wasn't busy at all, and a hello to acknowledge my presence would have been appreciated). When I got back into the exam room the vet (or so I presume to be the veterinarian) didn't introduce herself to me, which is just poor manners, not to mention highly unprofessional. The exam was shotty at best, especially for a new client, senior dog, barely asked about her history. The only reason I gave this clinic two stars was the fact that two vaccines and the visit only came to $57. However, I would GLADLY pay more money for a thorough vet, who takes the time to get to know my animal and me, and doesn't make me feel like they are doing ME a favor by me being there, because when/if something does happen, a thorough history, and good client/doctor communication can be the difference between the life and death of my fur child. read more

I am writing this review based on the care given to my cat. I began taking her to Bridger over a year ago. My cat has very dry skin and she scratches right above the tail. We moved to Helena and the air is totally dry compared to So. Cal. The dr. was extremely good with my cat. As it turns out my cat need a couple of shots and my cat was much within a few days better. I go in when she needs a shot which is about every three months. The cost is minimal and I can even pick up the shots and bring them home so I can do it. Thank you Bridger. p.s. While the staff members are very nice and attentive, I did not feel that the vet gave me the information that I needed. While I asked a lot of questions, I had to call back to Bridger to get clarification on my questions and still did not get a straight answer. While the prices are decent here, I rather pay a little more where I am more informed with the medication and stuff. Dr. Stav is awesome. He literally saved my colt's life with a simple remedy to a usually fatal condition. He tried valiantly to save my cat's life, but it was a losing battle. Dr. Seterak did great with my dog, but lousy with my cat. I sometimes thought if Dr. Stav had treated him first, he might have lived. But, probably not as it was a disease that was unpreventable and nearly always fatal. I stopped going to that clinic because of Dr. Stav's wife, who was the office manager. She has the personality of a rattle snake and has no business being in a position to deal with the public. read more

I have a baby (Cat) that had some very serious urinary tract problems. Dr Mandy took such great care of him and she never gave us bad advice and they are reasonably priced. I have had to call late at night and she was always willing to come in and see him. I can't thank her enough and the techs there are fabulous! Have been taking my cats there for years and my only complaint is they don't offer in-home euthanasia for old critters. I dread the thought of having to put my cat in a pet carrier she hates to take a car ride which she also hates to end her life at the scary clinic instead of in the safety, peace and comfort of her own home. Really wish Bridger would offer this service. I am certain there are many more owners of old pets out there who would be more than willing to pay for an environmentally compassionate end for their loving companion at home. read more

How and where to begin. For reasons too long to explain I became care-giver for my son's diabetic cat, Lucky. I'm terrified of needles so Dr. Keith patiently and with great good humor showed me carefully how to administer the meds. Lucky had several seizures during his short time with me and every single time Dr. Mandy or Dr. Keith made all the time for me I needed and went above and beyond the norm to help. When Lucky's time came to cross the Rainbow Bridge, he and I could not have received more compassion and care - and Lucky passed gently and quietly. As I sobbed uncontrollably in the examining room, Dr. Keith was kind and sympathetic and offered to take care of the details for me. Char and the Staff at the clinic, who have always been loving and kindness itself, made sure Lucky's ashes were delivered so I wouldn't have to come back to the site of such then-recent painful memories. In time I was offered a rescue kitty who is blind/deaf/and doesn't have many teeth, but is in otherwise good health. At every step of the way, the folks at the clinic are there for me at a moment's notice to do whatever they can to help my kitty, and to help me. Go somewhere else? Perish the thought! read more

This place was horrendous. We had to euthanize our dog here and they were rude and horrid. We sat in the waiting room for thirty minutes with our pet trying not to cry while people came and went, and then when we were taken back, due to their cramped and rundown facility, they rushed everything. The vet was very cold and did not explain anything or take time to discuss anything with us. In fact, he refused to sedate our dog before killing her!!! This was something his receptionist told me they would do for me and was why we went here. When our dog was gone, the vet rudely yanked her collar and leash off and stood there essentially tapping his foot until we left. So heart broken and will never be back. Cheap prices mean crappy care and crappy facilities. FYI, they are a horse vet and the doctor's there are not compassionate. If you genuinely wanted you pet to be healthy and cared for, go elsewhere. If your pocket book is all that matters, go here. read more
