The venue itself was beautiful, and our guests seemed to enjoy themselves. The children had a wonderful time, and everyone looked beautiful. Unfortunately, as the parents who paid for the wedding, we were left feeling disappointed with how the day was managed and how little our family's wishes seemed to matter.
Throughout the planning process, whenever we shared ideas or suggestions, they were often dismissed. The wedding planner frequently reminded us of her "35 years of experience," which made us feel that our opinions and vision for the wedding were not valued. We expected professional guidance, but we also expected a collaborative approach that respected what the bride, groom, and family wanted for such an important occasion.
On the wedding day, everything felt rushed. A large amount of time was dedicated to the bride and groom eating, yet when we looked over, they were often simply sitting and watching everyone else. They could have been mingling with guests and enjoying time with family and friends, but the coordinator even told them she would let them know when they could get up. It felt unnecessarily restrictive during a celebration that should have been centered around them.
There were also changes to the reception that differed from what we had been told to expect. We were informed that speeches would be limited to the parents of the bride and groom, the best man, and the maid of honor. Instead, all of the groomsmen were allowed to speak, taking additional time from other events. The father-daughter dance was faded out early and quickly transitioned into the mother-daughter dance, which was also cut short. The dancing portion of the reception lasted only about an hour before the evening was winding down. After all the time, effort, and money invested in planning this wedding, it was disappointing to see so many meaningful moments rushed through.
While the venue itself is beautiful, we left feeling that the day was managed according to the coordinator's preferences rather than the wishes of the couple and family. This was especially concerning given that the coordinator is also the venue owner and the photographer is her daughter. After making a significant financial investment and spending months preparing for this special occasion, the overall experience fell far short of what we were promised and hoped for. Many important moments felt rushed, decisions were made without consulting us, and we were left feeling that our concerns and vision for the wedding were secondary. Even now, we are still waiting for the photos that were promised within eight weeks. read more
