Orville Tsinnie is a renowned self-taught artist. He is a master Navajo silversmith who has been making jewelry since the 1970s; winning numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement award from the Indian Arts and Crafts Association (IACA), an honor that brings well-deserved recognition to this fine American Indian artist. Tsinnie can be considered a perfectionist due to his tremendous craftsmanship, attention to detail, and work. By constructing his jewelry with the highest quality stones and materials, the overall results are quite stunning! I was first introduced to Tsinnie's fine craftsmanship approximately a year ago, when my eyes gazed upon a c.1995 stylish heavy-gauge silver bracelet. Immediately thereafter, I became a loyal fan of his beautifully handcrafted work and had to obtain a few of his unique designs. Tsinnie was personally contracted to re-design a Kingman cuff that I purchased as a holiday present that would not properly fit onto my boyfriend's giant wrist. Without being knowledgeable about bracelet gap openings, the original bracelet was impossible to fit around his wrist. The original bracelet was ravishing and would have been such a disappointment to not be able to properly display and wear. Tsinnie's designs are handmade, which takes time to produce the quality of craftsmanship; but every day worth the wait was well worth it. The finished re-design was an absolutely stunning masterpiece! If you are interested in superb quality, craftsmanship and superior customer service; I highly recommend contacting Orville Tsinnie! I am absolutely positive in the near future he will indeed construct a few more lovely pieces for me.

The shop sells the pieces for the designers, kinda like a broker. We learned a lot of information about turquoise. I had no idea how many different kinds of turquoise there is. My friend was looking for a matching earrings for her bracelet. Owner told us that particular turquoise is no longer mined but eventually we found some earrings that were a close match. We both purchased a couple pieces. The only criticism I have is the owner doesn't stay focused. He is very very knowledgeable all things turquoise but we didn't need to hear the history of every piece that we were not even interested in. He kept showing my friend items that she wasn't in there to look at We almost left until a pair of earrings caught my eye that I thought would match her bracelet. They were a very close match so she did make a purchase. Even though he said more than once: These earrings are expensive and I would hate for you to pay that much‍ He almost lost a $1000 sale between her and I because he was not focused and even tried to discourage the earring purchase at one point. If you are wanting beautiful one of a kind pieces, this is the place to go. Just be prepared to be in there awhile.

You see, in a fraction of a second on someone's Youtube video about Farmington, I had spotted a doll cabinet... and within a 1930s Jaymar "Orphan Annie and Sandy" duo... And if anyone knows anything about me... it's that I'm an Annie fanatic... and my collection of vintage Annie dolls is expansive... but was missing this particular Jaymar duo... The owner of What the Junk, the lovely, friendly, immensely knowledgable June, offered her support as soon as I walked in... but I'm superstitious a little-- I have to "spot my find" by myself... ha! Once spotted, we had an extraordinary discussion, and it was very clear that June is a true doll collector-- and get this... she can also restring dolls as well! (Oh, if only she lived closer to me!) I suspect that is just ONE of her talents, she radiates wisdom and respect for history and treasures! Her store is an artful, eclectic delight of vintage collectibles, and it oozes with love from her big heart and delightful smile. Farmington is LUCKY to have a gem such as this-- in both store and in June! P.S. FULL DISCLOSURE: I was in town as my dog was playing "Sandy" in the local production of Annie... after having such a good time talking to June, I invited her and her lovely husband as my comp tickets to the show-- and I'm soo glad they came-- what a thrill! I truly hope that we can keep in touch and that they will look me up one day if they come out to Vegas!
