I have some health issues and it's dificult traveling, it's hard for me to take long drives and stuff. The owner will regularly deliver guitars to my home in Queens. for no charge, he goes out of his way to hand deliver me gorgeous new guitars. I have had only all positive experiences with Monster music for so many years. After buying at least 20 guitars.. I started buying guitars from them 5-10 years ago and they are still the only local shop I support. Owner is super cool, and super honest about how he describes his vintage gear. 5 days ago New STAY AWAY Teachers quit constantly due to lack of being paid . This business is being investigated by the Department of Labor and other enforcement entities. One of my children worked here and was treated horribly.I literally had to protest outside the building to get her late paychecks after she finally had enough and quit. The owner then slandered her citing that she left due to medical issues and left him in a lurch. A total lie. We recorded him threatening her when she went to get her paychecks. He threatened 2 other staff members in a similar fashion ... All of this has been reported. We are hoping for swift action but relying on the community to open their The owner took $10,000 from me several years ago as a deposit for a corporate event that was never held for my business. I can't get it back. He decided it was a loan? Then he decided to treat it like a store credit so long as my child took lessons there. When I said I wanted merchandise instead of lessons he called the police and refused to honor the credit at all. Crooked as can be. Honest reviews are being supressed by Google! They have wonderful teachers and a relaxed vibe. Definitely feels like a friendly neighborhood music shop. My kids have taken lessons at Monster Music for 4 years, since they were absolute beginners. My 8th grader is at NYSSMA level 6 and has gotten into All County Band every year, and my 4th grader is doing level 4 NYSSMA this year. There is an obvious reason why this store was named "Monster Music" and you know what it is as soon as you walk through their door. This store has it all!! A family owned and operated business for over 17 years, they specialize in Sales, Lessons, Repairs and Rentals. There are 6 Sound Proof Rooms in the store where lessons are given for the Guitar, Drums, Bass, Piano, Vocals, all Band/Orchestral Instruments and they average about 400 lessons per week. All Instructors are College Graduates. Some are even playing professionally. The store is filled with every instrument imaginable. They sell whatever they teach including Amps, Books, Sheet Music and all accessories. They are the biggest Gibson Dealer on Long Island but they also sell other Name Brands as well. Any Musician, whether a Beginner or Advanced, walks into Monster Music and it's almost like a Child walking into a Candy Store. You don't know where to look first. They have a very nice collection of new (a great selection of Reverend guitars) and used (everything else), along with amps, cables, etc. I've purchased a couple of Gibson's from them and they were set-up perfectly and priced fairly. Brian is knowledgeable and easy to work with. One of the guitars needed a new volume pot and Don replaced it in a jiffy - even reaching out to friends he has in the business to get the exact part - and did the job while I waited. Call in advance to make sure Don is at the shop. I recommend stopping by their store on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown to see what they have as their inventory seems to change frequently. read more

Great music store. My three children have been taking lessons on the keyboard since each one was six years old. I have been taking drum lessons for about five years. The owner, Brian and all his staff are very professional. The music teachers all have music degrees and/or are experienced musicians. They are able to teach children and adults alike from beginner and beyond. The classes are obviously scheduled but when life happens and a scheduling conflict arises the staff is very receptive and willing to reschedule the lessons. Very helpful. They also rent instruments for the school year. The school also hosts a music showcase twice a year for any student who wishes to play on stage at Mulcahy's. Very cool. The kids and even some adults get to be rockstars for a day. read more

I went here in the 90s for lessons and it is not owned by the same family anymore so don't be fooled by the comment saying that it is. They did look like they put a lot of money into the place to get it up into the new age and have a few different product lines in stock that are harder to find locally. DBZ and ESP LTD guitars in particular. Stopped in here for a pack of strings that cost $4 at Guitar Center or Sam Ash and was shocked when the total was $8.25! I was in the area and figured I would pick up the strings there on a whim on nostalgia. Will not be back! read more

Nice place and nice people. Compared to the major stores and online they are pricy. I have been there a few times when I'm in a rush to get to practice or a show and need a pair of sticks or a drum head and paid a few extra bucks to get what I need but its clean and the people are nice so its not so bad. read more

Place is very crowded. Not much room for the parents to sit while waiting for their kids to finish their lessons. Go on Friday and their local IT, website guy AKA DJ Beso will have his feet up, lap top plugged in and won't even move out ur way for a customer thats struggling to pay for music lessons for their kid and get a cup of coffee. read more

My kids have been going to Monster Music for a year now. My son has learned to love the piano, and we even signed up my husband for guitar lessons, since he has been talking about learning to play for years. The staff is great, and the owner Brian is very accommodating. Monster Music hosts a student showcase, and my son performed for the first one this past summer, and is really looking forward to the next one. Came here to learn saxophone the teacher I had was amazing except she was hardly ever there and they would put someone else in for her who did not know how to teach well at all! Then they Tryed to tell me I had to switch to a certain day and time if I wanted to continue with her! They tell you you need to give them 24hrs in advance to cancel but they don't tell you when your teacher is not in I just felt it was poorly handled I don't know how other lessons go there but I had a bad experience! read more

I ordered a set of strings online on June 19, 2017 and have yet to receive any notification that the order has been received or sent (is it now almost two months after the original purchase). All communication with the company has been ignored by them. Do not buy anything online from this company, look at various websites and you will see that they do not have a history of good customer service. The people here are very helpful. Our problem is that they seem to be overly pricey for repairs. It cost almost as much to crazy glue a piece back on than it did to rent the instrument for an entire year. Our child's teacher suggested we go there instead of the school doing the repair since it's a rental and a "quick fix". The rental prices are quite reasonable, unfortunately they must make their money on repairs for inferior instruments. read more

Very knowledgable and professional staff who will always lead you in the right direction on a purchase. Rather than being money hungry, they're honest and willing to help you make the right decision on buying an instrument. Their music teachers are also extremely talented and professional individuals who will help you learn any instrument at any ability level. Great for kids, or adults. Also host open mic nights and concerts for the students, allowing them to get involved in their local music scene.
