We ate and the amount of dark sauce swimming around the "FRIED NOODLE" made us think we ordered noodle soup instead. I mean as we opened the Tupperware, the black sauce was oozing out and it seemed like it was more of noodle soup than black bean soup. I order Pork chop with rice. It arrived as RICE AT THE BOTTOM, GRAVY AND 2 MASHED WHATEVER. The only good food we order was the vegs spring rolls and squid balls. Barely edible. I stood next to a man who picked up around five separate loaves of wheat (and one bagette) in both hands in order to caress their middles and squeeze gently on their crusts. Overall it was a great experience - good food, good coffee, and exceptional service. Food-wise: we got a spinach ricotta roll and a custard croissant - and loved both. The spinach ricotta roll was a perfect combination of your comfort hot breakfast with egg + spinach + cheese, plus the flaky buttery outer-layer of a croissant. There was also a bit of spicy kick to it - which I loved! Remember to ask for it to be heated. Some of the staff can be a bit short, but on the whole they're friendly enough. Most of their pastries look good and the ones that I've tried are tasty if a little stodgy. Not being close to a tube station, I don't visit that often but if given the chance, they're one of the better bakeries out there.

The food is traditional English cafe food at its best and it is extremely cheap. A cup of coffee is only 50p and sandwiches start from £1.50. It is also EXTREMELY good and I have now been converted to the genius of adding tomatoes, mayo and mustard to a simple sausage sandwich, an outstanding combination and a new favourite for me. There is also a patisserie inside although I confess to have not ever seeing much more than a few cream cakes on the shelves; perhaps a testament to it's local popularity. For a more healthy option the cafe serves up freshly made smoothies and shakes which can be a welcome alternative to the coffee which is so strong and sweet it makes your teeth hurt, just like proper cafe coffee should.
