I had issues with both the service and quality of work at Central Alterations. I went in to get 2…read moredresses worked on, one needed to be taken in and I wanted the style of hem changed, and the other just needed to be hemmed. After putting in the pins, they asked when I needed to pick up the dresses. They suggested that I pick them up the day before the event I was wearing one, and I requested sooner so there would be time to make any changes to the fitting if necessary. They scheduled me to pick up the dresses 2 days before the event instead of their original suggestion on 1 day before (which was about 2 weeks after drop off). I made it clear that I would be picking up my dresses when they opened on the day they were supposed to be ready. They did not give me a price estimate the day I dropped them off. When I arrived to pick them up, NO WORK HAD BEEN COMPLETED ON EITHER DRESS. They had me sit while they worked on my dresses in that moment, and when they brought them out they had forgotten to change the hem on the first dress. So they took it back to work on it and by the time they brought it back out I was going to be late to work so I had to take the dresses and leave. They charged me $107 for these services. When I got home from work and had a chance to check the dresses, I realized that they used white thread to hem my purple dress and it stands out terribly! But at this point I had no time to take it back to them and get it corrected before I was flying out. I'm still considering whether I should go back and ask them to replace the white thread, I'm not sure that I trust them to make it right.

I spent $110 on having five pairs of chinos hemmed and the button holes on a sport shirt repaired. Next, rather than hemming the pants to the desired length, they just flipped the ~1-inch of fabric below the original hem inside the pant leg and stitched it. instead of pants that were 3/4 inch too long I have five pairs that are 1/2 inch too short. I refuse to give them business ever again and now have to pay another seamstress to fix them. Pure laziness and just a garbage way to do business.

It was one of those higher-end novelty lingerie gowns, so it was not made of the most durable material (mesh, pleather) and it had to fit my body. It was made for someone much taller than I am, and it had to hit the body in exactly the right places in order to have the intended "wow" effect. Daniela accomplished this beautifully, and I received countless compliments on my dress. I had collected a bag of clothing that needed random little alterations and repairs here and there, thinking that they were too small or not "worthy" of taking them in somewhere. But what I found was that I could revive my wardrobe and be reunited with pieces I used to love and had forgotten about. Daniela altered my boyfriend's items just as perfectly, and he had no need to return for adjustments (he is very particular about the way things fit him or feel on him). Communication was great, and the work was done on time. We were asked when our deadline was, and it seems that she works her schedule around when her clients need their items.
