I was told I could have an appointment, sent in all required info ahead of time, then when I showed up to the clinic Monica wasn't there and wouldn't see me. When I tried to find out the issue, she silenced my messages. This is terrible customer service especially from a provider who is supposed to care for people in excruciating pain. I read great reviews of Monica on google. I was 39 years old and I went to see Monica after having two miscarriages. Not only did she help me get my cycle back to normal, but she helped me prevent miscarriage and now I'm 13 weeks pregnant! I highly recommend Monica for anyone with fertility issues. I owe my new life to Monica. I went to see her about a year ago to help with anxiety and stress. She changed my life. I no longer take pills that make me feel like a zombie or eat away at my stomach. Monica is extremely knowledgeable, and I notice results each time I see her. I was very interested in understanding more about Chinese Medicine and acupuncture and the points that she was focusing on for me. She recommended books and websites, and has taught me so much during each treatment. Monica also recommends herbs to help my treatment as well as teas and certain foods. Monica is the coolest acupuncturist you'll ever meet. She is super friendly and easy to talk to. I've referred other friends there and they are always pleased with their experience too. The lady I used to go to was so hippy-dippy, I found her a little difficult to relate to, so it's a welcome change! Monica does a great job explaining her treatments and the rationale behind each point that she's choosing. She welcomes questions and enjoys teaching her patients about the fundamentals of acupuncture. Her office is conveniently located in the Medical Dental Building. The treatment rooms are nicely furnished, comfortable and relaxing. Half the time I fall asleep while I'm laying there with needles all over me! I can't say enough good things about Monica. Couldn't be happier with Monica! I appreciate that her hours are convenient for people who work. They always send me an email that confirms my appointment time. Monica is very friendly, very professional and easy to work with, and she produces great results! I also appreciated that her office took the initiative to contact my insurance provider to get my treatment covered. The only things that I would change would be that crappy parking garage in the medical-dental building - don't do it! And I wish her office had more consistent heating/cooling. I started using acupuncture for a lower back injury and when I moved to Seattle I was in a hurry to find someone I could see regularly. Monica was the second practitioner I found and I knew after the first visit that she was the one! She spent plenty of time talking with me to understand my injury and my needs, but it was when she placed the needles that she won me over. She always seems to know exactly when she hits the "right spot" and if she doesn't quite get it, she always checks-in and then tries again. I really appreciate this because for the investment I make in acupuncture (time and money!) it's a shame to not get the most out of the visit. Monica is very attentive and really spends the time she needs to make sure you benefit from the visit. She also has electroacupuncture stimulation available (which I love). I have actually sent a number of friends to Monica for things from muscle aches to seasonal allergies to numbness in an arm. And everyone has had great reviews! I've never had any bad experiences with any of the receptionists like some of the other reviews mentioned...but then again, I don't chose my acupuncturists based on the front desk personnel. I agree that she is short (almost on the verge of snippy) and that does not have a friendly bedside manner at all. I've seen many acupuncturists over the years, but have never had anyone: a) not greet me b) not ask me how I'm feeling once the treatment is over c) not follow up with me at the end of the treatment to let me know when I should be back d) let me leave the office with a needle sticking right out of my neck. Yep, I felt a sharp pain, and thought, "wow, I'm supposed to be feeling better now, not more sharp pain", but I reached over to where I felt the pain, and there was an effing needle in my neck. Unbelievable. One star only for squeezing me in at the last minute, and that's about all I would say that she actually did for me. read more

I was not impressed with the customer service. The office was not very helpful or friendly on the phone, nor did they greet me when I came into the office. Monica didn't introduce herself or thank me for coming in. I think that her work was mediocre; she forgot to put a needle in where she said she was going to. Monica is the absolute best acupuncturist out there. I have seen her for a number of different reasons over the years and she has helped me a great deal. For example... I had years of infertility, saw other acupuncturists and even had a failed IVF. After seeing Monica for just 3 months, my menstrual cycle completely changed, I felt better, had more energy and GOT PREGNANT after my next ivf!!! I have referred many friends to her for the same reason and they have all also gotten pregnant. She is not only great at what she does, but she is so dedicated to her patients. A few months into my pregnancy, I began to bleed and e-mailed her on Christmas day to let her know what happened. She immediately called me back, left her family dinner (on CHRISTMAS!!!) to meet me at her office for a treatment. And thanks to her, I had a healthy little boy. I agree with previous posts about this clinic. This was my first time trying acupuncture, and I was really looking forward to it! Needless to say, after just 2 visits, I will be going elsewhere. I agree with posts about Monica. While she seemed to be good (I have no one else to compare her to), she was not friendly, did not greet me, etc. The receptionist (Sarah) is the most arrogant and unfriendly receptionist I have encountered. She over-billed me for a service and instead of working with me on it as an attempt to keep a customer, she insisted I owed the higher rate (i.e., what the clinic charges insurance companies vs. what they charge customers for cash payment). Instead of her telling me all of this ahead of time, she apparently thought it better to keep booking me for appointments before telling me that I would be billed an astronomical rate. Mostly and overall, this place has the WORST customer service! For a city filled with acupuncturists, a practitioner's success often relies on the word of mouth of happy customers. This place is a money pit. They don't care about working with customers to keep them. They care only about making $$$$. With so many choices in Seattle, do NOT go here!!! read more

I love Monica, she is a super pro and i have seen her work her magic on not only me, but several of my friends as well. I have migraines all of my life, and over a period of about 2 months, she was able to reduce and keep the frequency from 2x per week, to once every every 2 months or so. She just recently healed a shoulder issue in one session that i have been taking prednisone for. A friend of mine just recently visited her for spinal issues. she couldn't sleep, was in regular pain, and was considering spinal surgery. Within a few sessions, Monica has her sleeping and eventually was able to fully remove her pain. My wife had bad tendonitis in her wrist from holding our first child. she couldn't move her hand and Monica restored her to full pain-free hand movement. There are a million more stories like this. If you have a medical condition, whatever it may be, it makes perfect sense to see Monica. She is a very skilled acupuncturist and is very friendly and knowledgeable. I went to have treatment for my autoimmune disease. She was able to help the symptoms involved with the disease including the stress/anxiety associated with having a chronic disease. I also had an unexplainable numb spot on my knee that she was able to correct in one session. Monica is very genuine and warm with her approach. I have since moved out of the area and gone to other acupuncturist but still have yet to meet Monica's match with proficiency and consistent relief. She is a true healer. read more

Dr. Legatt may be an incredible doctor, but I will never know, because after dealing with her rude receptionist Sara I have no interest in doing business with Downtown Seattle Acupuncture. I called and sent a very friendly email explaining that my fiance and I are trying to conceive and were interested in their fertility services. I explained that my fiance is working hard with his doctors to get off of disability and that I believed acupuncture would help with a range of his issues, including our desire to conceive. I said that we weren't technically "low income" but that money was a concern for us, so traditional (Western) fertility methods were not an option. I asked if they had a sliding scale for those paying out of pocket, since acupuncture is not covered by Medicare/Medicaid. She called me back this morning and was incredibly snippy, and basically told me that "It wouldn't work at all for you and your husb...I mean boyfriend..I mean "partner" to see Dr. Legatt because she's out on maternity leave." So I said "That's not a problem, when is she coming back?" Sara: "Mid-September." Me: "That's totally fine, we're not in a hurry." Sara: "Well before you say anything else, you should know we don't accept Medicare so the cost is going to be prohibitive for you." Me: "Yes, I know you do not take Medicare. It was worth asking about a sliding scale because many acupuncturists offer one. How much is the cost?" Sara: "$160 for the 1st visit, $120 for subsequent visits." Me: "That's not very much, especially compared to Western fertility clinics! We can definitely afford that, or save up for the visits - it's worth it to us." Sara: "I'm going to email you a list of other acupuncturists in the area I think would be better suited to help you." She made it abundanty clear their clinic was not interested in helping the likes of my fiance and I. This was followed by a very curt response to my (long and thoughtful) email. All it said was "I just talked to you on the phone. Please see the attached file. Sara, Office Manager." I'm sorry, but ew. I'll pass on this clinic! Not recommended! *As an aside - the positive posts on here seem a little too positive, and I don't see anyone who complained saying they received a response or apology from the clinic or any attempt whatsoever to make it right. Actually, i've experienced MUCH better. Her receptionist was very snide when I spoke with her and just seemed annoyed by having to answer my pretty basic questions about insurance and referrals (as a referral coordinator, I know to be sure of details before the appointment or suck up the bill yourself). Secondarily, when I was getting treated, she hit a major nerve. Now I understand it happens, not that it actually had before in the 10 plus years previously that I had been getting acupuncture, but I suppose it's a possible risk. However when it happened she laughed it off as "big qi". Uh, no. That would actually be bad technique. There are so many other fabulous choices in this town, so I would neither return nor recommend. I have been treated by Monica Legatt for many years with wonderful results!! I suffer with MS and have for 20+ years and have seen many, many specialists and neurologists over the years and have never got any relief. Any treatment included many unwanted side-affects. Western medicine has got me no where fast!!!!! Monica has helped relieve so many symtoms without side affects!!! I can feel weak and crappy ans after one treatment treat,ent from Monica, I can walk better and feel a lot stronger!!! I read good reviews about Monica so I decided to go to her. When I got there I couldn't find her door and so I called her to see if I was at the right place. When I saw her, she came off snippy and rude (but with a smile on her face). I just got a weird vibe but I started my session and when I was done she had to jump to the next person so I kind of felt rushed. I went to her the second time and told her that my insurance shows that she offers a 10% discount and I was told that is not the case and that I'm getting a discount already by paying $108 in cash. If I paid with CC it would be more. I just didn't feel like she cared too much and it was all about money and how quick I can get out for the next person to come in. I did more research and found a Chinese Acupuncture right on Western Ave who works with me with the pay (i am paying $95 for an hr and a half of service). Dr. Yang also takes as much time needed to show me how to meditate and what I should eat and so many more things that show me that she actually cares for my well being unlike how I felt with Monica. I'm sure she is a nice lady but people go to Acupunture because they are in pain or they're fixing something and we need someone passionate who shows that they care about us. read more

I went to Monica for gastrointestinal problems which I had experienced for several months. I had relief in the 1st session. I have received several treatments since that 1st visit and I continue to improve. I also had neck pain from a car accident from years ago. Not recommended. After my sessions I had to move to a new city for work. I asked the receptionist to email me my bill since I didn't have a new address yet. I also had to switch bank accounts because my bank didn't have a branch in my new spot. I never received and emailed bill from them. I called her to see where my bill was and to give them my new address. The receptionist mailed me the bill. They don't take credit cards so I told her I had to wait until my new checks came from my new account. As soon as my checks came I wrote her a a check immediately. Apparently it wasn't fast enough or she lost it because she then turned me over to collections. She even said to me on the phone that maybe she made a mix-up. I am applying for grad school and cannot risk bad credit for their mistake. Maybe that is their ploy, stress you out to the max so you need more acupuncture. read more

I was facing a hysterectomy when I sought acupuncture as a a final option. After receiving treatment for 6 months I am completely pain free. Needless to say, I couldn't be happier and would recommend acupuncture to anyone in chronic pain. read more
