Rude bank tellers don't go here. There was barely anyone there and told me to wait in line.

I called Whatcom Educators CU, and the manager got back to me in about 10 minutes. Now I have a much better mortgage rate with WECU. I pay my WSECU credit card early and always for over 4 years. They would not increase my limit (from $5000 to $6000) without a hard pull on my credit. This year, I had a fraudulent charge on this WSECU credit card. That in itself is a concern. I did not get any notice about it. I asked them to close my credit account. Apparently, I didn't communicate adequately, as the closed my card, but left the credit account open. I went into a branch to figure out how to get the account closed. They stated that closing a credit account (with zero balance) would be a detriment on my credit report. I closed it any way. As well, I locked my debit card with WSECU. I'm keeping WSECU as a secondary credit union. Thank you to the very professional and friendly staff at the Everett Branch. --Laura H., Everett

Terrible communication and listening skills with minimal verbal contact…read more We applied for a HELOC loan, online and nobody contacted us to prepare us for what we will need to put our best application forward. They just ran our credit before contacting us and made us a counteroffer based solely on the minimal information in their application which never asked for savings or other assets. No one ever contacted us to ask for income information or assets until after they ran our credit. Our credit is 750+, our payment history is spotless, and our savings are greater than our debt. The agent was very dry and impersonal the few times we spoke with her (twice for less than 5 minutes) and we felt like we were just a number the entire time. She offered less than what we wanted, even though they valued our home at a much higher value than we expected, and never acknowledged anything we would communicate to her about our assets or savings. She would just email us for more information and never ask for our assets or personal savings information that would show our savings are larger than our debt, leading me to believe they do not take your assets or savings into account when calculating loans. Thereby never having a full picture of our net worth. Our entire experience felt impersonal and robotic. It almost felt like they never listened and gave us a "take it or leave it" offer without discussing or reviewing all of our assets. I couldn't help but feel they were being biased. If you want to deal with dry, unfriendly people who will make decisions from little information and not acknowledge anything you bring up, then WSECU is the place for you.

ONE STAR IS TOO GENEROUS…read more STAY AWAY. STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this company. The irony here is that they're called 'Reliable' when they're anything but. A while ago I financed through this company. Let me tell you the various and unbelievable things they did. On one occasion, unbeknownst to me, they waited an entire month to cash the check for my car payment. So when the next payment rolled around, they took out both payments at the same time. That was to my fiscal detriment as I thought my money was counted for at the time and wouldn't you know it, a check bounced. After that I only paid with money orders. Thought that solved the problem but nope. They called me the next month to tell me my check bounced again. When I informed them I paid with a money order, they hung up. Eventually I moved out of state and informed when afterwards. They said it was a violation of the terms and my car would be repossessed if I didn't pay it off. Luckily I had the remains $3500 balance and sent a cashiers check in that amount. My intuition told me to send it verified mail so someone would have to sign for it. After a few days I checked my mailing reference number to see if the check had been received. Unfortunately I kept getting errors so I called Reliable and was told that it was never received. They informed me that I would have to continue making payments on the vehicle until I can get another check for the balance. That didn't make sense. You wouldn't allow me to make payments because I moved out of state but now I can make additional payments until check for my balance shows up? After a very stressful week of checking my reference number for delivery of the check and talking to various employees at Reliable who had the same story (check never delivered) I finally had a stroke of luck. Turns out I was entering the wrong reference number and the check had been delivered and signed for a week prior. They had the check the whole time. After relaying this information to an employee I was told someone would call me back. Someone called me that evening and said, I kid you not "We found your check in the trash can earlier today." So you mean to tell me someone threw a check for $3500 in the trash and it sat there for a week? Your garbage sits in the office for a week at a time eh? To make things worse they never even reported to the credit bureaus that I paid the car off! I filed a complaint with BBB and they responded basically calling me a liar. Fortunately I have good credit now but even if I didn't, I'd rather throat a cactus than deal with Unreliable Credit ever again.

My chances of bumping the curb with one of the tires of my car was reduced. Parking was available in the strip of businesses where the BECU was located. The entry to the business was clearly marked and the lobby streamlined for entry/exit and ATM use. Two of the three ATMs were in use, so I went to the open one. Making my cash deposit was no hassle and I encountered no technical difficulties. Interior temperature was cool and the windows did a good job of filtering the natural light to not be overwhelming inside.

Number. I was denied several times when asking about getting a new checking account in person. Even after pointing out that the new debit cards continuously were compromised even the same day of obtaining a new debit card number. Each time I went in the staff insisted ."that was not necessary." And that I needn't worry". And surely having a new debit card would solve the problem even though I knew in my account had been compromised and even urged then and spoke to becu fraud department on several occasions advising to get a new account number. After disputing all the fraud on my account and wasting countless hours each time it happened after that, the staff continued to tell me I did not need a new account number and would be fine. Fast forward a month later of experiencing fraud attacks on my same account that I had for almost 5 years, suddenly received a notice that my account was being closed for good by becu due to fraud. Something which could have been avoided if they had given me a new account number like I asked the first 5times when referred by the fraud department. Additionally, because of all the lockouts of my account due to the fraudulent transactions none of my autopays went through, additionally, at times my account. Locked up and I did not even get a text or phone call notifying me! I had to find out in the middle of trying to buy gas or groceries. This happened 8 times or more within 2 months! I can't believe they still did not give me a new account! And instead kicked me off, when going into the main branch in Everett in the middle of the work day to see why I was getting kicked off my account. After explaining everything the employee apologized and asked if I wanted to keep my account, I had already waited hour or more in the lobby after receiving the phone call and took the rest of the work day off just to handle it. Additionally, I had my credit card on auto pay from the checking but the funds were not taken out due to the account being locked due to fraud. After that I left funds in my account to settle the fraud situation so my credit card could still be paid. BUT BECU BLOCKED BECU CREDIT CARD FROM TAKING THE MONEY FROM MY BECU CHECKINGS ACCOUNT TO PAY MY CREDIT CARD the money was there and they blocked this transfer within on numerous occasions. So more LATE FEES were tacked on, additionally I was forced to take more time off from work just to sit in a fucking lobby for hours at another location near my job just to make the credit card payments and "handle" the situation to which I was continuously told it was fine then only to find out later they were blocked without reasonable explanation. Never was I notified by BECU that my credit card payment would not go through even though I sat down in person to set it up and was told it would. I'm not sure why my situation was so mishandled and I ended up paying for it. Additionally, they used to withhold my checks for no reason at all for an extra 3 days if they were over a certain amount. This is the worst banking establishment ever. Don't put your money here unless you want it to get stolen.

After waiting on hold for 30 minutes they finally answered and said that because I chose the Kraken card, it would take 3 weeks or more to receive it, but that I could go to the Lynnwood branch and have one printed instantly if I wanted to close the Kraken card and just get a regular card. When I went to the Lynnwood branch I had made an appointment online for 9AM. I walked in and none of the employees knew about my appointment, but one of them was free to help me so it was fine. I explained my situation to her and that I had decided to open a second account and would like the instant debit card and she said they could only print instant cards if your debit card was first lost or stolen. I explained that that was not what the phone employees told me. As I was trying to process this new information she kept asking me about my opening deposit. So I tried to ask if I could just transfer money online and she said no. It had to be check or cash and they would put a hold on my check. I asked about the debit card again, because I wanted to be sure I understood the policy as I was now doubting whether I wanted to even have a second account here. It was at this point that some other woman across the room blurted out "I thought we already talked about this?!" "Why is she asking about the debit card again?" It was incredibly rude. The banker went over and after they spoke for a few minutes she said she would make an exception and print me an instant card. Then the other woman came over and started talking about how they had to be careful of fraud, and how they will hold my check (I never said I had a check) etc. I asked her what her name was and introduced myself, something she neglected to do, and she told me she was the Assistant Manager. I decided the whole situation was just too rude and unhelpful, and I was now doubting whether I wanted a relationship here at all, so I said goodbye and left. If the management reads this review know this: 1) Perception is reality in customer service. This means you have think of the customer's perspective first, and show a willingness to help them. Had the employees known I had an appointment and the manager got up and come over to our desk and introduced herself and asked me questions directly, this interaction probably would have been far more positive. 2) The company (like most banks) refuses to share branch rules and policies with the phone bank team members. This inevitably leads to a misunderstanding of what the branch employees are actually allowed to do and subsequently misinformation being communicated to the customer. Had I known that the manager would have to make an exception to print an instant card, I would probably have not gone in at all, or I would have been prepared to accept the fact that I might not get one. 3) If you're going to have extended shipping times on customer cards, you need to put that on your website! Customers should know what they're getting into and have clear expectations set. Really sad, disappointing experience. I'm still not sure I want to continue doing business here. Once I actually get my debit card and are able to use the account, I'll make my decision.
