Mask are required like everywhere else and hand sanitizers are in place but what really impressed me was I watched an employee take their own temperature with the temp gun and record it in a log book. There were also other COVID-19 prevention procedures in place in the treatment areas that made me feel safe to be there. Jenny my hygienist did an great job taking care of me, she is always friendly professional and very good at what she does. On that same note the rest of team at the clinic are a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend this clinic.

So. I was sorta upset. That my "2" hour back to back appointment for cleaning and X-ray (changed…read moredentist) was going to take "2" visits due to the fact they found it needed more cleaning than could be done in 1 hour. Now the previous dentist I had. They did text to communicate when I first signed up just before covid, but, either that employee did it on her own phone. or they stopped using the service they used to use to text me. either way. they would call me for appointments. and miss me as I was at work couldn't take the call. and when I called back it would go to voicemail. and they don't seem to email. so I got a missed call during work. and by the time I remembered about it and called back they were closed. couldn't recall if I had an appointment that weekend or not but I knew I had one in Aug...... decided I needed to find a dentist that texted emailed and actually answered their phones. so. why did I give them 5 stars when they told me it was 1 visit and now I have to come back for another hour of cleaning? the hygienist.... wouldn't budge. she told me it needed more than 1 hour cleaning. and she wasn't willing to sacrifice my teeth to accommodate my demands. she got receptionist in to talk sense in to me. and when that didn't do the trick they then got the dentist in. to talk to me. and finally I just agreed. NOT because they bully me, but because they cared enough to say NO, no we are not squishing 2 hours of much needed dental cleaning into a 1 hour slot. I am happy they cared enough to stand their ground. I really liked her cleaning pace. I didn't feel apprehensive because I could mentally follow along with where she was cleaning. she rocks! dentist was awesome too. came in. made sure I knew what the game plan is. when I come back again. and what we doing to make sure I stay on top of areas. Koodos to the guy who did my X-rays. it's not easy squishing those wings in there at just the right spot. he took his time. and it went well. I felt good I didn't feel nervous. And the receptionist team were amazing I left them figuring out billing for my two insurance there was something iffy about who to bill how much or something. Hahaha. Even when I showed hesitation in getting my wisdom tooth extracted (I was clearly nervous) and asked her what my options were, she very plainly said, "you can do nothing or get it removed!". Like I know that Sherlock; I was looking for more information and reasoning. One of the worst dentists I've encountered and lacks experience in patient care and bedside manner. They managed to achieve character without sacrificing any look of cleanliness. They are extremely knowledgeable and very caring of your issues. I've also found their process frustrating, with multiple consultations, difficulty booking appointments, and a feeling that I'm getting the runaround or that I'm just a walking invoice. For example, I booked an appointment for a cleaning, only to be told that they could only fit me in for half a cleaning and that I would need to book the second half months later. Who only books a half cleaning? What a waste of my time! Now I have to book two afternoons off work. Also, after my new patient exam at Hastings, I was referred to their Broadway location regarding a couple of teeth (possible root canal). At that appointment, I was told I could also get a second opinion at a completely different location if I wanted one. I was confused - just give me the root canal. Why did the original dentist at Hasting (who is the Owner by the way) refer me to Broadway, where I was told I could get a second opinion somewhere else? Why doesn't the Owner have the expertise to tell me these things? I've now seen three different dentists over the period of a few months. So, needless to say, I'm not loving the lack of consistency. Anyway, I am frustrated because I've been taking time off work for appointments that don't always result in a clear decision or completed treatment, and I continually have to book another appointment for something else. My insurance coverage for the year is running out, and I still need a root canal, which I might not have enough coverage to pay for because of their inefficiency. That said, I do feel their staff provides good-quality work. I've had one half clearing and one filling done, and from what I can tell, it was done well. As for the environment, some people may appreciate the concrete, minimalist design of the office, but I find it cold and impersonal. Because it concrete building, concrete floors and walls, the office is loud. You hear drilling and all kinds of sounds happening around the office. It's just very buzzy and echo-y, which doesn't make for a relaxing dental experience. What this all boils down to is that I am now looking for a new dentist. I don't want to keep giving this dental office my time and money because I disagree with how they run their business.
