Monarch is great for kids, I've taken my son since he was 5 and there's something to be said for…read morehaving a good experience. Staff at Port Moody are polite and professional, due to the clinic's smaller size however you really need to book months ahead for prime hours (I.e after school). The prices are also higher, but still competitive when compared to other Pediatric dentistry offices. Overall - we come back every 6 months because it's a positive experience for our son and that's what matters most.

If you have a fusspot child like mine, then Monarch might be the perfectly designed centre for you…read more This pediatric dentistry is just a dream came true. A spacious, super friendly, and entertaining place. I can't imagine anything extra to make this place better (may be bumper cars will make it a full fledge fun fair, but hey it's a dentistry). I swear in our days a pizza shop won't have that much of activities and fun! They have little toys dispensers, 5 computer games, a big fish tank etc, small library etc. I know it might sounds ridiculous but it's an ultimate day out for the kids ha ha! (I'm not that horrible, little bit less). The staff were well trained to deal with kids, very educational and have a very well structured bribing system lol. Every few minutes they give your child a sticker, toothbrush etc. So awesome! And here come the dentist (the scary guy) actually not anymore. He was absolutely nice, gentle and positive (not a bully, like most dentists). He communicated with us (the parent) and my daughter with the same information but in a very intelligent manner! I don't remember his name, but this dentist deserve an award of bring useful, funny and cool :) The only reason I would give this centre a 4.5 stars and not 5 is that when the place is busy (after school hours) you can wait for a long while until your turn comes. But still I'm a super fan! I'm coming here again (as far there is sugar and candy in this world)!

The amount of work my daughter has had on her teeth she should be scared to go to the dentist. She loves seeing Dr. Diya and the hygienists. I can't rave enough about this place. Dr. Diya's caring personality does not go unnoticed. Thank you for just being you.

We brought in our 5 year-old son for a consultation to fix his 8 cavities (yes, we're not good…read morebrushers/flossers) after his general dentist said that he's not experienced enough with young kids. We brought in X-rays, and Dr. Chander maybe spent a minute with us telling what he would do - fix all either with laughing gas or send us to another specialist to fix all at one time under general anesthetic and then he left. We then spent the next 10 minutes talking to the manager about payment options. When I questioned why we couldn't ask for a treatment plan without laughing gas or general anesthetic, the answer I got was, "well, the doctor probably thought he's uncooperative". Since we were uncomfortable with the treatment plan offered, we consulted yet another dentist, and there, the dentist spent 10-15 minutes during the consultation meeting check each tooth over and also testing our son's patience in the chair, needless to say, we went to this dentist to fix his teeth. I have no problems with dental practices needing to make money (especially if they have a fancy waiting room and staff that don't hate you when you walk in). I can also rationalize exceptionally good dentists charging above what is recommended by the provincial dental pay scale (they also will demand the difference between what your insurance pays and what they charge even for a consultation), but what I have a problem with is when a PEDIATRIC dental practice has no desire to determine a child's comfort level in the chair BEFORE recommending a treatment plan. Our son has seen quite a few doctors and specialists and has had a few exams with various machines, and the conclusion after all these exams is how calm he is - in fact, where he got his teeth fixed, he was even used as the example by the parent of a screaming child of how to behave at a dentist's office. Boy, this has turned into a very long review, but we saw the positive reviews from other patients and thought we might be able to get the same - a meaningful consultation with a pediatric dental specialist that would know how to deal with children without having to resort to rendering them dazed and confused. We didn't get that, and in fact, the only thing we did get was a bad taste in our mouths.
