We had major damage to our home most recently from Milton. We also had damage from Ian so I decided not to go at this one on my own. Long story short.. Our personal attorney recommended using a public adjuster. I hired Peninsula. In the end, I paid the adjuster 10% of the very first, and only check I received from the insurance company. I do believe the insurance would have paid this amount without the adjuster's involvement. Needless to say, the initial check fell short of covering all the damage to our home and even more so because I had to give a percentage of it to Peninsula. The adjuster sent two additional letters requesting more coverage and here we are 8 months later and nothing. I hate to discourage others to use a public adjuster because of my experience, but you may want to work directly with your contractor and insurance company before you share what money the insurance company may be willing to pay.
