I am a first time client. The only thing about my experience that I enjoyed was the shampooing and the deep conditioning. When I arrived I did let her know that I had a tender scalp(tender headed), but I'm guessing she did not take that into account and I do know I have a lot of hair, but there was no gentleness involved. As a hairstylist I also feel that you need the necessary tools when people say that they have a tender scalp. I felt like my hair was being ripped out during the detangling process and blow drying process which led to me having to cut off more hair than I needed originally. My head was very sore at the end of service and during the service I felt like I wanted to cry. Either way I made sure to tip her because I know how it is to be a stylist and put in a lot of work. Customer service was not great either, no conversation and she seemed very standoffish and also rushed for time. Either way I am thankful but I will not be returning. read more

Very Disappointed! I saw Shamona on March 31, 2022. The service I asked for was a Natural Haircut. This was by far the worst haircut I have ever seen. Once she completed the service my hair was wet, once it dried it showed how inadequate her cutting skills were. I am writing this review in order to save someone from using Shamona, She offered to give me half of the $140 I paid for this horrific service but I will never be able to get my hair back. Two days later I ended up going to an actual stylist that can cut, (which cost me another$120). Please take head to this review, she is not equipped to cut hair. The stylist that ended up correcting her mistake felt bad for me. She stated she had never seen a professional haircut this bad. She stated there was no blending of the hair, unevenness, and a total lack of cutting skills. She asked if I went to a franchise discount haircut store. When I explained where I went and how much I paid she immediately stated "she should give you your money back!" If you value your hair being cut properly do not go to this salon. read more

Honestly anyone that doesn't give her 5 stars must be having a bad day. I've been going to Shamona for almost 5 years and she is the only one I let touch my hair. I recently went natural a year ago (she cut it for me) and she has been there through every step of the way with suggestions on what to use, books to read for naturals, etc. If you need someone to cut or trim, you can trust her. As a first time customer of Shamona, I was very displeased by the customer service and the way I was treated. 1) She never introduce herself to me, so I wasn't sure who was my stylist as I waited. 2) She was rude. I wanted a particular style, which I showed her prior to my appointment. Once I was there and reminded her of the style, she made an unpleasant remark saying "I don't make edges". That was a rude statement that rubbed me wrong in her delivery. As a stylist you should try your best to meet your customer's wish, especially something as simple and in style as edges, not make your customer feel bad. 3) While during my hair, she impolitely asked how I learned about her, showing that she was displeased to be doing my hair. I was a reasonable customer and did not get an attitude back with her so this was very uncalled for. 4) She was also over my head on the phone complaining to someone about her day which I found unprofessional especially since I was not made comfortable first or treated nicely as a client. In the end, my hair came out fine after having her make adjustments. She does good hair, but a bad attitude and being unprofessional will override talent especially in the beauty industry where your goal is to help people feel and look better. read more
