I toured Heaven Sent Early Education Center (HSEC) in July 2025. During that tour, I was explicitly…read moretold that children must be 100% potty trained. This policy did not raise concerns for our family, as our four-year-old son had been fully potty trained for over a year prior to enrollment. He is also accustomed to age-appropriate responsibilities at home and demonstrated the independence and readiness we believed necessary for school. We enrolled our son in September 2025. This was his first school experience. Like many children born during the pandemic, he had primarily been cared for by family and required time to adjust to a structured classroom environment. Beginning school is a significant life transition, and for some children, that adjustment can temporarily trigger potty-training regression. That was the case for our son, who began having accidents during the two-hour classroom nap period. I proactively asked his teacher to prompt him to use the bathroom before nap time. I was informed that staff are not allowed to ask children to go to the bathroom, a rule that was never disclosed in the potty-training policy or during enrollment. This restriction feels developmentally inappropriate for three- and four-year-olds and creates a predictable setup for failure. In my experience--as both a parent and someone familiar with early childhood education--scheduled bathroom breaks are standard practice, even for kindergarten-aged children. Despite this challenge, our son continued to excel socially and academically. However, we began receiving warning emails regarding potential contract termination, which created significant stress for our family. We later learned that multiple families received similar warnings and expressed fear and frustration regarding the lack of clarity and support. Ultimately, our contract was terminated immediately before the holidays, leaving us scrambling to secure alternative childcare. This occurred after we had already paid substantial upfront costs, including a $250 nonrefundable administration fee, uniforms, school supplies, and required shoes. When I requested my son's workbooks--materials that should reasonably be covered by the administration fee--I was denied. Leaving this review is not something I do lightly, especially regarding a Black-owned business. How-ever, I feel a responsibility to share our experience so other families can make fully informed decisions. Many families are already operating at capacity, and this level of confusion, rigidity, and lack of transparency feels unnecessary and, frankly, predatory. As a community--and especially as Black women--we must do better. Our toddlers are human beings not liabilities or line items. Families deserve compassion, clarity, and developmentally appropriate support. My son is a person, not a number.

It was clearly a sign that this location was not a good fit for my family and not a "heaven sent". Their website allows you to book tours in the morning only and have various dates on their website when you can tour the school. In addition you can only tour a class if you child is already that age which is lame as by the time they are that age the class maybe full. None the less, I called to confirm their availability before I scheduled a tour as I and my spouse took off for the tour. In addition, they highly recommend to bring the child with you. Tours are at 9am, 10am and 11am. I had mines scheduled and later received what appeared to be a broadcast email to all scheduled tours to schedule a date sooner as spaces were filling quickly. I immediately called and was informed my tour should be fine as the classes that were filling up were those of children not potty trained and since mines was potty trained I should be fine; WRONG. I showed up with my family and they had no record of my tour nor were they able to accommodate me for a tour as it was just the receptionist and one other person there. In addition, the receptionist made a call (I believe to the owner asking if she informed me I could come even though the tours were cancelled). I was very disappointed in how all was handled and made it clear that Heaven sent was not the right school. This was disappointing but a sign that this place aint it. Get your enrollment and touring process ironed out Heaven Sent! The ONE star is for the mirrored glass doors that was locked on the outside and a speaker button to enter. Which by the way I was let in after the receptionist shouted inside "Its open!". Overall this process was a whole mess and a waste of time. In the end, im glad it didnt work out as I can only imagine how all is with other processes.

As a new mom and coming out of the pandemic, I was more than anxious to send my little one to a daycare. Little Miracles has been wonderful for my daughter and for our family. When we were first looking for daycare centers, we were struggling to find a center that we could afford and one that had room. Within an hour of contacting Ms. Carla that first summer, we were able to hear back from her and schedule an appointment to see the facility. At the time, we needed to tour while there were no kids there (of course due to the pandemic), but we were so thrilled by how our daughter took to Ms. Carla. When our daughter started, Ms. Carla assured us that our little one was happy and cared for by sending picture updates and all the fun little crafts home. She was active, learning, and playing. Our little pandemic baby was so fulfilled. Besides for all the crafts, ABCs, counting, now days of the week and months my little one knows (she astounds me every week by the new things she is learning) - Ms. Carla is the one who potty trained my baby and helped us follow the routine at home. Without her, I have no idea how I would have done it. Seriously, she knows kids and she is the professional. Ms. Carla has been steadfast with her Covid protocols and this has helped her daycare stay safe and clean for all kids. The center is much smaller than other comparable centers which is best for our daughter. Ms. Carla and her team is attentive, caring, and treats all kids like her own. As a family, we deeply appreciate her service, her love towards our little butterfly, and her guidance and grace for us as new parents to support us in this journey together.

Then one day, by chance, I met Yudith at a park. We talked, and she invited me to visit her daycare, which happened to be close to where we live. When we walked in, we couldn't believe how beautiful, clean, and organized everything was. And on top of that, she seemed so honest and kind. Today, a year later, we can confidently say that Yudith isn't just as wonderful as she appeared--she's truly an incredible woman. My daughter adores her like an aunt, and Yudith has taught her so much! This month, our daughter started Pre-K and is well ahead for her age, thanks to her time with Yudith. Yudith follows the Montessori method, encouraging freedom of expression, fun, and friendship, while also maintaining a solid routine and impeccable transparency. It's a small daycare with only a few children, so the attention is highly personalized. You always know how your child is doing, what they're learning, how they're living--whether it's how they sleep, eat, or play. If you love your children dearly and can enroll them in this daycare, do it! It's a gift that will last them a lifetime. Yudith has been a blessing not only for my daughter but for our entire family. She has so much experience, is transparent, kind, and responsible. I can't emphasize enough how important these qualities are. She's organized and dedicated--we couldn't have been luckier. Our daughter was in the best hands we could have ever imagined. Oh, and the daycare is bilingual! The price is very reasonable, and we don't have a single complaint.

And I really love that the staff here encourage development across the board, from eating with proper utensils to potty training, and they are happy to work with parents to help the kids succeed. On top of everything we can tell a ton of planning goes into their days there. The cost did not matter to me becuz I always had a peace of mind when dropping off my most precious gift. No price compares to the LOVE and CARING your child(ren) will receive from the CCELT staff. For the month of February, they don't have a single day celebrating the lives and accomplishments of black luminaries. Instead, it seems as if they want to focus on everything but blackness. They even have a poster on the front of my kid's classroom door acknowledging Valentine's Day that has two white Peanuts characters. What does a 2 year old child need to know about Valentine's Day?? They thought it was more appropriate for their 99.9% black student and staff population to see images of two white Peanuts characters than any images of blacks. They didn't even put the one black Peanuts character, Franklin, on the classroom door. They call it a Christian school, so they could at least display the numerous black ministers in Black History that have helped move our people forward.

My son was moved from…read morethe 2yr to the 3yr old classroom because he was learning things at a much faster rate than his peers. Once he got into the 3yr old classroom is when the problems began. The lead teacher would miss several days in a row, which meant a substitute would fill in and their were at least 2-3 different aides that came and went. The aides all looked like they were teenagers. Finally, after about 2 months of being in the new class we were told that the class would have a new teacher. Well, when the two new teachers started I started getting complaints about my sons behavior. When I questioned the Director about what events led up to my son hitting his teachers she told me that didn't matter b/c he shouldn't be hitting. Which I told her I agree he shouldn't be hitting adults but he doesn't display that kind of behavior at home. She told me she would get back to me, which she never did. So, I took it upon myself to go up to the school and talk with the teacher, Ms. June. I arrived at the school around 5:35 pm and asked Ms. June if could speak with her about my son and she brushed me off stating she gets off at 6pm put she usually leaves around 5:45pm. I told her I would call back the next day and speak with her. I called the next day and spoke with Ms. Brame (the Director) and informed her I wanted to have a conference with her and the teachers. The following week we had a meeting and the Director told me my son has behavioral problems and the teacher called him defiant. I could not believe what I was hearing, no wonder why my son did not respond to them. They had labeled him and probably did not tend to him like they did they Director's grandson, who happened to be in the same class as my son. It is my understanding that the Director's grandson would be catered to and treated differently from the other kids in the class. At any rate, the Director told me at the meeting that my son would need to be pulled from the school which I agreed with since the teachers and Director had negatively labeled a just turned 3 yr old. My woes continued with Ms. Tikisia who is the accountant. I called her to ask about my deposit. I tried to tell her that I had paid for my son's last week about 2 weeks prior and that they owed my deposit to me. She told me I was wrong and I didn't understand what she was saying when she told me the check I had provided about 2 days prior to my son leaving would have been a "wash" and that they did not owe me a deposit. I told her she was incorrect and then she said she would complete an audit. Well, once the audit was completed she said I owed 2 weeks. I told her she was wrong and I wanted to review the audit. I saw that a check that had cleared my account was not listed on the audit. I went up to the school to provide her a copy of the check that cleared my account and left. The next day the Director calls me to tell me that I can not come back up to the school and that they will mail me my check. Well, the next day I received an email from Ms. Tikisia stating I would not get my deposit until I paid the 2 weeks b/c she confirmed with their bank that the check had cleared. I wasn't disputing the fact that the check had cleared, I was disputing the fact that it was not included on the audit. Well, I told them I would take them to small claims court if they did not send me my deposit by a certain date. I received the check in the mail by the date I specified, which leads me to believe that they knew their accounting was incorrect. Otherwise, why not take a chance and go to court? This daycare center has serious management issues and the teachers there need more training and the curriculum is not suited for children who learn at a much faster speed.

Kierra, who runs the daycare, treated her like family from Day One. Loved the fact that Kierra used an app called Brightwheel so that we can stay in touch throughout the day with messages and pics to see what our little one was doing each day. Kierra also was totally flexible with our work schedules and nights we would get stuck in traffic on the way there. Located in a great neighborhood in Lanham, Md. it's very convenient to Route 495 and 50. She also learned polite manners and how to interact with others. Kierra uses the Brightwheel app and we loved seeing photos of our daughter during the day to see what she was up to. It was also easy to send messages or let her know if we were going to be early or late. The app also made it easy to pay her weekly. Our daughter always looked forward to going to "school" every day and sometimes we couldn't get her to leave! We HIGHLY recommend Kierra's daycare because of the "family" care, love and attention given to our daughter. :)
