I am so grateful for the Nesting Place…read more I found the Nesting Place on Instagram when I was pregnant. I was excited to enroll in prenatal education classes here and was even more excited to take my little one to classes after my baby was born. Prenatally: My husband and I took "newborn care 101" and partner yoga for birth. My husband and I loved the partner yoga with Jen. It really opened my eyes on what I wanted for my birth and helped me change my birth goals and plan. I loved the prenatal yoga classes with Jen as well. I also found my doula through the Nesting Place website. I am so grateful to have found the Nesting Place to help me prepare, as best I could, for my birth through education, support and movement. Postpartum - I was even more grateful for the Nesting Place. I saw that it offered "Fourth Trimester groups" at all three locations - Farmingdale, Merrick and Yaphank. I enrolled in a fourth trimester group in Merrick and received an email saying "come as you are." It was very comforting as it was the first place I took my baby alone. I felt supported with other moms going through the same things at the same time. As moms, we are usually the last ones supported and taken care of, and the Nesting place really offers that space for us to be supported in this new chapter as we are also born as mothers. We have utilized so many resources through the Nesting Place - our lactation consultant, Bella, was instrumental on helping us with feeding/latching issues, baby and me yoga, postnatal strength classes, baby and me music and developmental play with PTs, OTs and SLPs. My baby and I look forward to the classes as we can be ourselves, meet other parents and feel so welcomed. I am really truly grateful that the Nesting Place exists during the time I became a mom. I don't know what I would've done without it. I hope others will "come as you are" and try a class here prenatally or postpartum. It really is a wonderful community.

Laura did an amazing job keeping everyone engaged and incorporated hands-on techniques that my husband will be able to use during our birth. We left the class feeling so much more prepared and confident about what to expect. I highly recommend this class, especially for first-time parents like us!

Taking the Birth1st Hypnobirthing course with Elizabeth was one of the best decisions I made for my…read morebirth experience! I wanted a natural delivery, but as a first time mom, I was scared! Thanks to the breathing techniques, visualizations, and overall mindset preparation she taught, I was able to have an unmedicated 7-hour labor (most of it at home, arriving to the hospital almost 8cm dilated!!) with no tearing--delivering a healthy 7lb baby girl. Elizabeth's guidance gave me the confidence to trust my body and stay calm through every stage of labor. The tools I learned helped me through my surges, stay as relaxed as possible, and truly embrace the wonder and joy of the birth experience. I'm beyond grateful for this course and would highly recommend it to any expecting mama looking for an empowering, positive birth! Our bodies were made for birth and I am so proud of what I was able to accomplish with Elizabeth's help!

She truly cared so much about my husband and I and took the time to walk us through each and every step. We were so nervous being first time parents about the birthing experience and she truly not only prepared us but really put us at ease. When it came time for the actual day of the labor things did not go exactly as planned and Elizabeth was right there for it all! I cannot imagine going through that whole experience without her there. My husband feels the exact same way. She also was so great with the doctors and nurses. She never overstepped but kindly had my back throughout the process. I do believe that should she not have been there, the hospital staff would have pushed me to do things that I didn't want, like a C-section. It took far more time to do a natural birth but with her support I was able to have my daughter vaginally like I very much wanted. If you are considering hiring Elizabeth as your doula, I would definitely do it! She made our pregnancy and birth feel so much safer and she really took care of us every step of the way.

Heather is an incredible birth doula and photographer. My husband and I interviewed many doulas in…read morethe NJ/NY area prior to the birth of our first baby and not only was Heather experienced and confident in her ability to provide support, but she was also relatable, reassuring, and kind. We knew immediately that she was the right match for us. Leading up to the birth, Heather was extremely communicative and spent time both in person and over the phone providing us with helpful resources and guidance not only about the birthing process, but also comfort measures and postpartum expectations. Her ability to provide both physical and emotional support was unmatched. Heather's support allowed me to release a lot of the anxiety I had and helped my husband and I solidify what we hoped to get out of the experience by working through our birth preferences. In addition to providing support and reassurance, Heather took candid, beautiful photographs that we will treasure for years to come. They are so moving and capture every emotion of the day so perfectly. Heather was not only great at preparing me for birth, but she was also great at preparing my husband for his role leading up to, during, and after the birth. He was so involved but it was amazing to have another advocate to ensure the best experience possible. Heather seamlessly created a team mentality where I felt that my well-being was front and center. I honestly felt so calm and at ease, which is the exact opposite of what I imagined I'd feel several months ago. She was incredibly level-headed throughout the labor and delivery process and supported every decision I made about my care after providing guidance on how each decision would affect my birth. I felt like I was in control and was informed and empowered. Our baby was welcomed into a world full of love, compassion, confidence, and support. I couldn't ask for a better experience. I would highly recommend Heather and her doula services to other expecting families in a heartbeat. Having her by our side was one of the best decisions we made!

I'm not a crunchy hippy dippy type but I knew I didn't want any drugs (no pitocin, no epidural) but I didn't know much else. Enter, Heather, who I found from googling and decided upon solely from these Yelp reviews. I cannot recommend her enough. She educated me on things I didn't know I didn't know. We created a plan and I had exactly the birth I wanted. She advocated for me at the hospital at a time when everything is new and scary and I was too overwhelmed with being in labor to know how to advocate for myself. Contractions are earth shattering and not fun but Heather gave me the strength and conviction to carry out my birth plan, to have my baby without an epidural. I had a safe birth the way I wanted. At the end, my doctor and the nurses were so impressed they all asked Heather for her business card! Also, CHOOSE TO DO THE PHOTOS! It's so crazy and fulfilling to be able to look back at that day. You won't regret having them, but you might regret not having them.

When I met Yuen I couldn't help but find her expertise impeccable. We instantly connected because we are both RN's. She has years of experience working in the hospital's labor and delivery and NICU units. Her warmth was refreshing, and she is naturally genuinely caring, passionate, funny and knowledgeable. Throughout my pregnancy she came to my home for the prenatal visits, and always answered any and all questions I had. She was always accessible day or night 24/7 by text or phone call. Unfortunately I did not get to deliver at home with her due to unexpected complications that led me to the hospital for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy. Yuen even came to the hospital to visit me and make sure I was ok, doing well and that the staff were taking care of me as they should. Although I did not get to deliver with Yuen I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend her if you are looking for an exceptional, and everything natural home birth experience. She continued with me post partum to make sure both me and baby were doing well. She helped me with breastfeeding as well. I will definitely have her as my provider for my next pregnancy. Yuen also offers GYN services so I do continue my routine GYN check ups with her. What I love is how personal it is. She makes you feel like you are her only patient/client. She takes her time. She's not in a rush, and the staff she has helping her out is wonderful, just as exceptional as she is herself. She's quick and efficient. There no waiting forever in a doctors office. Btw her office is so homey, when u walk in it's like a little apartment. You'll feel like you just want to stay there and chill. I absolutely love yuen! If you're looking for someone genuine who actually cares about her patients she is the one!!
