Hiring Mommywise was the best decision we made, and our sleep coach Lauren was amazing! Our 11 month old was waking 3 times a night and had to be nursed back to sleep every time. Her sleep (and therefore ours) was getting worse, not better, the older she got. Naps were getting harder and she was starting to refuse her crib altogether. We also have a very active 6 year old so no time to rest during the day. I knew we needed an in-person expert to help. So many other services I looked into were remote only, and that wouldn't have been effective for us. Lauren was here 4 nights, and by the time she left, our baby girl was sleeping through the night, going down while still awake (instead of us holding her till she fell asleep), and she was taking her naps in her crib. From the moment Lauren arrived, she took the time to get to know our baby, her personality, and what she needed individually to get her sleeping through the night. There's no doubt that the end result was successful--our baby slept through the night after the 5-day program--so no complaints about the outcome. However, the price (around $10,000) feels excessive given what's involved. Essentially, the sleep trainer provides a few tips, relies on the "cry it out" method, and sleeps in another room while monitoring the process. During the day, their role is mostly limited to observing naps via the Nanit camera, without much hands-on involvement. Ultimately, it comes down to whether parents are willing to handle a few tough nights of letting their baby adapt to new sleep routines. If you can stomach that and don't want to spend a small fortune, you could achieve similar results by simply putting your baby to bed, letting them cry, avoiding nighttime feedings, and not offering formula before bed to break the association between eating and sleeping. Honestly, this advice is widely available through YouTube videos or books. Another downside is having a complete stranger in your house for five days, often with little to do, which can feel awkward. That said, if you've exhausted every other resource--books, YouTube, or your own methods--and still aren't making progress, this could be a viable option. I didn't sleep train my older son (still regretting that) and didn't think it was fair to do it to our second child. The quick read: Prior to training, overnight sleep was usually 4-5 hours followed by hourly wake-ups, and naps had to be standing in the carrier walking/rocking. We were miserable and exhausted. After the magical Lauren came to help, our baby boy sleeps an average of 11 hours per night, and naps in the crib- putting himself to sleep each time. The best money we've spent! The longer version: We sleep trained at 4 months, and we were so skeptical this would work because we thought our baby boy was going to be too difficult. He wasn't a baby who wanted to, or liked to sleep (we thought). He fought us for every nap and and every bedtime. He needed to be rocked, breastfed, or in the carrier. He wouldn't even fall asleep in the car or stroller. He also had reflux, which didn't help. During my first call with Natalie, she asked some questions and said she was 100% sure they could help. Her confidence alone just reassured me, and even though it was a lot of money, we were desperate and needed to try. Lauren arrived for her 72 hour stay, and was just a calm, sweet presence- I felt like we knew her. My husband (who is not a social butterfly) even later referred to by saying "she was like a roommate you actually like". The ultimate compliment. Lauren assured us that our baby boy would be fine, she told us what the plan was, and made sure we understood the reasons why things would happen like when she would let him cry, when she might go in, and what we would look for while watching- this was really important to me to understand because it gave me comfort. Baby boy cried the first night, and tears were expected. By the 2nd night, he was already sleeping the majority of the night with some bouts of crying. By the 3rd night, he had put himself to sleep and slept 11ish hours. It was amazing. Over the course of the 3 days, the naps were also in the crib or in the stroller. They weren't perfect after 3 days, but about 2 weeks out they started to solidify as well. I can also say that since Lauren left, baby boy learned to roll, went through developmental leaps, got vaccinations, and got his first teeth and we had some temporary bumps as expected, but sleep always ironed itself back out and disruption was always minimal. I can't say enough about Lauren. She has been so compassionate and patient with all of my questions. She's always there to respond to a quick text when I need some reassurance or have a "stupid question", and she never makes me feel bad. She's helped me learn so much, and helped make me a more confident mom. I'm so thankful for her. She's not only amazing at what she does, but she's a great person too. Mommywise is worth it. I am forever grateful for Mommywise and our lovely sleep consultant, Amy. If you have the means to use this service, PLEASE DO! I was quite literally at my breaking point when I desperately reached out to Natalie via the website platform on a Saturday night. I received a confirmation message for a sleep assessment for that upcoming Monday with Natalie, but there was also a message with her direct number if you needed her to "move mountains" to squeeze you in sooner. I embarrassingly texted Natalie the following morning, and she scheduled a call late Sunday morning after her brunch...which was adorable. We frantically completed our sleep assessment with millions of questions, uncertainty, and doubt. My husband and I have been best friends for over 10 years, and living our lives in shifts for 4 months, getting probably 3-4 hours of sleep a day, made us nearly unrecognizable to each other. I can't explain how life-changing hiring a sleep trainer was. My baby was waking up every hour at night - if I got a 2 hour stretch that would be a 'good night', and she was also 100% contact napping. But, I was going back to work soon so all of these things were issues, not to mention how my mental health was suffering (hello PPD/A). One morning I was at a breaking point and googled "sleep trainer" which is how I found Mommywise. It is an investment, but I was willing to try anything to get my mental health back, so we decided to go for it. When Melissa arrived, I was still apprehensive and nervous for the crying... I cannot even begin to express the amount of gratitude we have for Amy and Mommywise. The gift of getting a full night of sleep cannot be understated - our daughter slept through the night (at 15 weeks old) on the second night that Amy was with us and she has not looked back since! I'm not one to leave reviews on any platform, but I had to write one for Mommywise/Lauren. I reached out to Mommywise when my daughter was 9-10 weeks old because she was exclusively sleeping only while being held, with a pacifier, and required an insane amount of rocking...only to sleep for 2 hours at a time. This was all day and all night. My husband and I resolved that this was normal, which was told to us by many other well-meaning sleep consultants. We were told this was to be expected and to basically ride it out until she was at least 4-6 months until we could formally sleep train her. I had a breakdown, since I would need to return to work when she would be 4 months old. When I reached out to Mommywise, Devon reassured me that while it is normal for babies wanting to be held and rocked to sleep, it doesn't mean it isn't hard or that there isn't another way. It was the first time I felt validated in my emotions, and it was the first time I felt hopeful for any change, after attempting so many failed sleep contraptions. Lauren came over when our daughter was 12 weeks old. She was originally supposed to come later but her sleep was becoming more of an issue with her waking every 1-2 hrs overnight. My husband and I were sleeping in separate rooms, and we were just exhausted. Lauren said she could come over sooner and we were ecstatic that help was on her way! She immediately calmed our nerves and answered all of our incessant questions. It's hard to describe how she was able to do what she did, but she essentially observed our daughter's behavior and temperament throughout the nights and naps to learn when to intervene and how to best support her, without creating new bad habits or crutches. She coached my husband and I throughout the way and taught us what certain behaviors meant. Our daughter, who never slept alone and who would be screaming in our arms while we would try to rock her to sleep, was sleeping 11-13 hrs throughout the night and 1-3 hrs for her daytime naps. The most amazing part was that she was putting herself to sleep, and putting herself back to sleep when she woke up in the middle of her naps or night. No more pacifier. No more needing to be held 24/7. I must say, I was expecting our daughter to sleep as well for naps when Lauren left, but the first couple weeks were touch and go for the naps. Even now, there are days when her naps are 30-45 mins or she wakes up crying in the middle of her naps and won't go back down. But, I felt like I wasn't doing a good job and felt like I wasn't able to read her cues as well as Lauren, but Lauren helped me walk through those weeks when I felt like her naps were unraveling and reassured me that this was to be expected at her age, and she STILL supports me now with all my questions..nonstop questions. She is really so kind and amazing and thoughtful! We found a friend in her as well, and I am already hoping to have her over for our next children. So where are we now? Our daughter is sleeping through the night for 11-13 hrs a night, and her naps are progressively becoming more predictable. She sleeps anywhere from 45mins to 3 hrs, with the first two naps averaging about 1-2 hrs. My husband and I have so much more bandwidth to enjoy her and each other. We are able to work out, eat dinner together, my husband and I sleep in the same room, drink coffee without fear of spilling it on her head, pump at my leisure (I am an exclusively pumping mom). Our daughter is significantly happier and smiley, able to tolerate more tummy time, and has already made leaps in her development with more sleep in her system. We cannot be more thankful!! When my wife and I found Mommywise, we were at our wits' end. After nearly 6 months of relying on a night nurse on weekdays and suffering sleep deprivation on the weekends because our baby boy needed to be rocked to sleep every time he woke up (2-3 times per night), we finally decided to try Mommywise based on a colleague's glowing recommendation. We learned to go in when he cried because of hunger, gas pains, or a poopy diaper--but to let him "cry it out" if he just didn't want the day to end. Instead, he just started to get better and better at soothing himself, slept much better, slept longer, and would always wake up with a big smile in the morning! I can unequivocally state that sleep training our daughter was one of the very best decisions I've ever made. We were completely enslaved to rocking/feeding her to sleep, rushing in every half hour to rock her back to sleep when she started fussing, and never being able to go anywhere because her schedule was so erratic. It was exhausting, frustrating and she was not getting enough sleep. I experienced a BRUTAL postpartum period, and was not mentally or physically capable of taking care of her in such a stressful fashion. Now, she sleeps for 11-12 hours straight every night, goes down for naps with no rocking/feeding and minimal crying, and we feel like we can have a life again! Natalie and the team were invaluable in helping our son become the best sleeper we know. Our 2 year old autistic son had significant challenges sleeping through the night. Most experts told us that autistic children just sleep less and that there was not much we could do about it. 5 stars and more!!!! My hubby and I were so desperate to find a solution for my 6 month old sons sleeping issues (waking up multiple times a night) and we really needed EVERYONE sleeping again. We reached out to Mommywise when our 3 month olds sleep deteriorated to the point where he was up 4-5x a night. Awful! And once we engaged them, Natalie helped get our 3 month old sleeping through the night. Our life changed for the better immediately thereafter. What you pay for with Mommywise is an expert who you trust to guide you through the tough parts of sleep training (which generally involve letting the baby cry for some period of time). Someone who has the experience and expertise to say "this is normal, let him cry and figure it out" and "this is not good, let's go in and pat him, reassure him, reposition him etc". I think it was one really tough night, second was better and third was pretty smooth. He has been sleeping through the night ever since (some hiccups here and there but 95% great). I will say we still haven't got our naps to a great place (he often wakes up 30 min into naps) but every so often we get a long one!But we did see an incredible improvement in our baby's night sleep quality almost immediately and he is a MUCH happier baby as a result. Not to mention that Natalie is very patient and has been available to help with developments even months later (it's been I think 2.5 months since she stayed with us). How do you write a review for a sleep angel? We say to ourselves every single night that we put our son down in bed as he drifts off to sleep on his own, "Mommywise was the best thing we have ever done for our family." To say our 4.5 month old son hit a sleep regression is an understatement--for the entire month of November he woke up every 45 minutes overnight and during the day and no one was sleeping! Prior to the sleep regression he had never put himself to sleep, never slept in a carseat, never slept in a stroller, and couldn't fall asleep without being rocked! With that said, I was completely against sleep training from the beginning and began using strategies from the no-cry sleep methods around 3 months. When the sleep regression hit, we resorted to co-sleeping and then eventually tried more intense methods like "pick up/put down". After a month of zero sleep for anyone I started researching sleep coaches, and I even individually messaged everyone else who left reviews for Mommywise before deciding. We knew we needed help! As soon as Erika arrived I knew we had made the right decision. Her presence was instantly calming, and she felt like a friend we've always had. She was just as much a support for our son as she was for us. Erika put us at ease as she walked us through what to expect with the sleep training every step of the way. She was relatable, as a fellow mom, and understood our hesitations and talked us through all of them. After the 48 hours I seriously contemplated asking her to stay a few more days because we just enjoyed having her here so much! Even after her stay she was super responsive to all of my texts, emails and calls (which were quite a few as we were traveling for the holidays and changing schedules, and she helped us navigate all of that!). After working with our sleep angel/coach Erika and Mommywise, our son now sleeps 11-12 hours THROUGH THE NIGHT and takes two to three 1-2.5 hour naps A DAY, and very happily I might say. He now reaches for his crib when he's tired--I never thought I would say those words! He sleeps everywhere whenever he's tired! If you are deciding whether to work with Mommywise, and you're feeling so sleep deprived because your baby hasn't slept in a month and you're wondering if this is really the right decision...DO IT!
