I absolutely adored Dr. Stern. I have recently developed allergies for the first time in my life and just wanted to make sure it was nothing more serious. He was EXTREMELY thorough, took time to listen to my concerns, gave explanations for why allergies suddenly would have developed and possibly solutions to help me get through this allergy season. Also, I was in at my appointment time and out in under a half hour. Very minimal wait time at all. His office was clean and his staff was courteous, I'm only giving it four starts because they had a 9am slot open on zocdoc, which I booked, but got bumped to 9:30 saying they had double booked the slot. Not a huge deal, but a bit of nuisance. Be forewarned though, if you do cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you owe them $150, so just make sure you plan your appointment properly! read more

Despite the bona fides of its founders/management...Bluesleep's focus is telemedicine, CPAP machines and mouth-guards. In-person doctor visits don't seem to available any longer. If like me, you seek a better understanding of the (1) etiology of one's sleep-apnea or (2) variety of treatment options, this is NOT the place to go. A 20 minute telemedicine intake consultation with an NP left me somewhat dazed and feeling (feeling mind you) as if even I, a well-informed consumer of medical services, had few choices. Next stop, a Langone system or Mt Sinai system sleep medicine practice that offers in-person appointments. read more

Very disappointing experience with BlueSleep. My first appointment was canceled at the last minute. When I rescheduled for the following week, I received multiple texts just an hour before the visit asking for additional information that had never been requested beforehand. During the appointment, the doctor was unhelpful and seemed to have their own agenda. I was referred to sleep counseling and told that someone would be reaching out to me--but I never received any follow-up communication. I scheduled another appointment a couple of weeks later to address these concerns, but that visit was also canceled just 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and unprofessional. My time was not respected, and I would not recommend this service. read more

The "screening calls" are, at best, 10minutes and there is no interest in you as a patient other than to get you into the next stage of being able to bill you and your insurance company. Charges are not disclosed until you get hit with a surprise credit card charge. I am not sure if the telephone customer secure is US or non US based but it's clear that their systems are substandard and there is no communication between practitioners, sleep tests, and billing - so you have to repeat everything again and again and still they get it wrong. And they try and operate without being licensed in some states by asking for a fake in state address - reported to my insurer for fraud. To the owner who replied. Checked them out and advertised as licensed in California, during intake and before my initial appointment they stated they confirmed everything was perfect with my insurance. Turns out claim was denied due to not seeing a California licensed provider. I have blue shield of CA and was confirmed I was in network. But they bill under Spiros Manolidis who seems is based in nyc even though I saw a different doctor. All they told me was to call my insurance but they stated there is nothing that can be done because I should have seen a California licensed provider. Doesn't seem like they do what they state they do which is check with insurance and provide any pre authorizations that arise. They don't and now I'm stuck with a $600 bill for a 7min appointment and I have to go to another doctor in state. read more

Unfortunately, I'm giving this business the lowest rating for three reasons: 1) Cost & transparency: I called BlueSleep a few days prior to my appointment to ask if any cost would be associated with my appointment and the representative on the phone said with my insurance Aetna it would be covered and I understood I would not have to pay anything. Low and behold, they force you to lodge a payment method online and then charged me a $40 copay for a "specialist appointment". I specifically called and asked about costs, you should have run my insurance and told me it would cost $40. My local dentist is able to do that and a professional business like yours should be able to do the same. 2) Appointment quality & value: The appointment in and of itself lasted 7 minutes and added zero value, the person basically said all was well and there were no next steps. 3) Customer service: When I brought the discrepancy between telling me "it is covered by Aetna" and later charging me $40 to the customer service's attention, they showed little empathy and offered no resolution whatsoever. I sent a follow-up email and never heard back from them again. They may offer valuable services but at no point during the process of interacting with them 3-4 times did I feel they cared for me or my business with them or properly addressed my questions and concerns. read more

My appointment was canceled twice, very last minute, for no reason. I've been trying to figure out my sleep issues for years and I feel completely ignored and avoided. Bluesleep was recommended to me by my PCP. They don't care about their patients; the initial interview lasted 5 minutes at most. ABSOLUTE SCAM. If I could give Negative numbers, I would. No phone number on their website for follow up and they do not respond to emails to CONTACT ME unless it is for new business. Had an assessment and the clinician was fine - gave recommendation but not details. Was told everything would be easy but when I went to follow up - no response (they already had my money). Finally located an actual phone number through LINKED IN - 212-683-0174 BTW and then was told if I wanted the actual TREATMENT I would have to drive 60 miles away to have it done. Just for them to tell me it's not working and I need to keep coming back. How convenient. The charges on my bill are always confusing and I never know what I'm actually paying for. They just keep charging my card without invoicing first, which is insane to me. And they've recently made it so you have to email billing and can't talk to anyone on the phone about it. There are major billing discrepancies at Blue Sleep. Consultation Charges: I was told that a 15-minute video call consultation without insurance would cost $108. However, I found out that they billed my insurance company $600 for the same service. This huge difference is surprising, and I don't understand why the insurance charge is so much higher. The same issue happened with the home sleep test. Having insurance didn't bring me any benefits. Invoicing Issues: I had a 15-minute video call with someone who is not a doctor. My dealings with Blue Sleep have been marked by continual frustration and anxiety. Basically, they're a medical-service provider but treat their patients like they're working a production line. There's no appreciation that the individuals they serve are dealing with a long-standing sleep disability. There seems to be no medical expertise except for the owner, Jordan Stern, who is a well-respected Mt. Sinai physician. In my case, they would not release my sleep test results for several weeks because they were too busy to schedule an exit appointment, in spite of the fact that l had a long-standing appointment with Dr. Stern that the phone rep told me they had no record of. Then there seems to be no one in charge to whom you can speak to resolve this kind of problem. read more

The device that I got (detects sleep apnea) was the most inconvenient device ever to be discovered. You need to wear it on a finger. They suggest thumb. It was so tight I woke up in the middle of the night with a painful thumb because blood circulation was cut off. I probably would have lost my finger. Then I tried my index finger and it slipped off the finger the first time in the middle of the night and another time I again experienced the lack of circulation thing. It is a really bad device. No one should be using it. I also doubt that a device like that could be effective. Could be a complete scam. And insurance covers it only if it records your sleep for at least 4 hrs regardless of whether you lose your finger wearing it for 4 hrs. Stay away. read more

Terrible! Most of the reviews are accurate. I made the appointment with Dr. Jordan Stern, MD on ZocDoc. He did not show up for the appointment and instead sent his PA. They are very slow in processing the results, I was informed it will be 3-4 weeks to read the result from their connected telehealth device. And then another week to see another PA. The doctor is mostly for the namesake., feels more like insurance fraud. I wish I read all these reviews before signing up for an appointment. Please stay away and find a reliable doctor. read more

I can't believe how unethical their advertising is. They made me do multiple consultations, paying for all of them even though each took less than 5 minutes. Then they made me pay for the sleep study, which I was fine with. All the while, they said that the device was covered by my insurance. Finally, they let me know that the guard is $2300, me owing $1800. This is an insane price for a snore guard, even if it is custom. I have a good insurance yet I feel as I paid a lot more than I thought with every appointment. They charge a copay then another fee they say is my portion of the insurance and a separate shipping fee for the device. Additionally a missed appointment they charge $150! 5 mins prior to my first appointment I get a call canceling. It takes five minutes tops to verify insurance. Meanwhile their policy states if you cancel within 24 hours they will charge you $150. I had high hopes for Blue Sleep but ultimately you get what you pay for. It is a convoluted process and very inefficient. You get handed off between different associates and doctors. They don't really have a systematic process to help track things. They insisted on me taking multiple sleep tests at home (which I had to repeatedly reschedule appointments because they forgot to send out the tests) and after taking the tests they shared that they don't like to chase numbers. I made a bit of headway in understanding my sleep but could have saved a lot of time by going into a professional lab. read more

Very scammy, the PA seemed to know very little about how to treat my insomnia and nothing at all about Ambien that I was prescribed by my own doctor. The information she provided I knew from Google. Then the sleep test was sent to my home, I requested to send it back, they provided a return label which I quickly sent back a month ago. I see they charged me $80 for the sleep test. I am disputing this charge, not my fault if the post office messed up. They call you constantly until you answer to provide a credit card number. All the negative reviews are very honest. And the reason for this mostly is because there is a fine line between what is considered dental service and what is considered medical service. YES, you have some coverage, but know that coverage for an oral appliance is usually just a few coins, not much more. BUT this is important I just want to add this ... It is very important ... I had been wearing the oral appliance for sleep apnea for a while and YES, I was feeling much better. YES, it was working. BUT, I went to the NYU College of Dentistry, which is my regular dentist (yes, it is a school, and yes I do see a student dentist there) - while at a routine check up, the student dentist stated that it appeared my 'bite' had changed significantly from my last visit and the change of the position of my bite was part of the reason I was having problems with basic chewing of food. That is the reason I went, I thought I had or could have cavities ... But the problem was worse. The oral appliance shifted my bite, not good, and some thing Blue Sleep ain't never gonna tell you might happen. read more

I booked an appt with BlueSleep on ZocDoc, but I should have known better than to go with one of the advertised doctors. I booked an appointment for the following evening at 6:40 since they showed availability. The next day, a woman from the office called me at work and I missed the call because I was in a meeting. Then, she called again 2 hours later to verify my information and let me know about a survey I needed to fill out as well as credit card info. Then she called again 2 hours later to say my appointment time wasn't available and asked me to change my appointment time and a reminder to fill out the survey and input my credit card info. My appointment was for the evening and it's really hard for me to take calls during the day because I'm a kindergarten teacher. She then proceeded to call me a fourth time during work hours to ask me for my credit card info and survey details. I've never been harassed quite so much by a doctor's office. It felt very uncomfortable and unprofessional so I asked to cancel my appointment. She then tells me she can't cancel so I have to do it on ZocDoc... but didn't she just make changes to my appointment a few hours ago? Anyway, I said no and I would dispute the charge if they try to bill me for it.
