I have short natural hair and I only wanted a taper around the sides and the back because I twist out my top. Gwen lied and said she could do the cut. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. I knew from the moment I sat in her chair that she didn't know what she was doing but I decided to give her a chance. She picked up the clippers, hands shaking, and proceeded to cut my hair and boy did she mess it up!!! She had the audacity to tell me she has been cutting hair for 44 years. I've learned anytime some one tells you they have been cutting hair that long, it only means one thing, they DON'T GO BACK FOR MORE TRAINING AS NEW TECHNIQUES EVOLVE. THE BEST THING TO DO IS FIND ANOTHER QUALIFIED BARBER/HAIRSTYLIST FAST!!!!! I told her to stop, I grabbed a big mirror under her workstation, stood up and looked at the back of my head, she cut a plug out of the back right side, and the rest was patchy, it was a hot mess!!! I proceeded to put on my jacket, grabbed my purse and she had the audacity to say, oh don't worry, I'm not going to charge you and I said to her, I WASN'T GOING TO PAY YOU! and I walked out. Note to ALL Hairstylists DON'T LIE AND SAY YOU CAN PERFORM A HAIR SERVICE IF YOU KNOW YOU REALLY CAN'T. NEVER TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRY TO A PERFORM A HAIR SERVICE YOU KNOW YOU AREN'T ABLE TO DO AND END UP FUCKING SOMEONE'S HAIR UP. STICK TO THE STUFF YOU CAN DO AND GET TRAINING BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO OFFER A SERVICE YOU KNOW YOU OR AREN'T SURE YOU CAN DO!!!!!! Note to ALL PATRONS DON'T EVER FEEL OBLIGATED TO PAY FOR A SERVICE THAT WAS HALF ASSED OR THAT YOU AREN'T SATISFIED WITH!

Her prices are overall reasonable, however the last time I went to the salon I was mislead with the overall price of the hair color. I asked the price at the beginning of the service to confirm and the price at the end was $50 more than that quoted price, with them telling me I had a special treatment. I didn't ask for a special hair treatment, maybe they were referring to the toner that was applied but that was never explained to me to be an extra cost (I thought it was part of the color). Then I felt stupid asking about it at checkout. I just wish I had fully understood this when I asked my hair stylist at the beginning of the appointment. I did pay without complaining, but left a little upset.

I enjoy researching and since my 10 year plus stylist moved out of town, I researched my heart out to find a new one. My first choice was a fail. Actually, Grey Salon Studio was my first choice but the other salon I tried first was recommended, so I gave it a shot. Cut was fine but color was dark on top and light on bottom. Kind of like an ombre but without the fade. By the time I got in to see Veronica at Grey Salon Studio, my color had lightened a bit but still wasn't right. Veronica fixed it, easily and beautifully. And gave me a terrific cut with much needed body and a more current style. BTW, I am horrible at styling my hair. Since Veronica couldn't blow dry and style me (Covid-19 precautions), I went home and did it myself. I was surprised how easy and great looking it came out! Testament to her skills.
