Wanted to eat supper somewhere that would be friendly, and good for me. I walked in a bit after 4 when they opened and a few patrons were in already. I walked around to check out the venue, and sat at a table... and waited. I saw two tables over get helped. For me no help or even acknowledging I'm there. I made a point of holding a menu at the table up so they would get the idea I wasn't there for nothing. I finally walked up to the the bar counter, menu in hand, and waited to be helped. It took a while. I ultimately asked for the Paddy Plate (a burger and fries), and a small Kilkenny. I paid my bill right away. 20 Swiss Frnc. The meal came and it was hamburger with sauce on toasted white bread on top of some barely fried potatoes. I ate the meal though it kept falling apart due to being white sandwich bread. I had it cut in half, and half of a half fell on the floor from being so flimsy. Wrapping up. No one asked if Id like another pint or could I get anything for you. The service was terrible, the food was terrible... and they didn't even have Irish music. It was too expensive for what I ordered. I'd go somewhere else if I were anyone reading this. 13 for paddy plate and 7 for not even a pint. Worst Irish pub I've ever been in and I travel the world.

They also have a good variety of beers on top, and I had a great time here with my buddies.

definitely great for all sports lover!…read more for those unlucky enough to be stuck in zurich on a sunday, you know what i'm talking about. almost no retail therapy available! :( and limited f&b too! so paddy reilly's is a god send indeed! especially on a F1, RWC2023, NFL and english premier league weekend. so much to watch and they show it all! they are also easy to find with a tram stop right at their doorstep too! i found it to be spacious enough with multi screens of various sizes well distributed all throughout, both indoors and out! so just find your nook to look for your poison. audio normally available for big events or games as well, depending on what most of the crowd are watching. even if it's your first time here, just ask their friendly english speaking service staff what will be shown, where, around the pub. special requests can also be made for less popular games. otherwise they are clearly popular with many reserved choice tables, so do book ahead for that big event or game! as for me, walking in early worked well too! :) just eat, drink, and make merry with fun fellow sporty patrons before kickoff! there was a sunday roast option available when i was there and that was what i went for! a good deal imho for pricey zurich, CHF39.50, including a choice of free drink(alcoholic or not)! don't expect gourmet fine dining and you will be happy with what they serve here. be it guinness, kilkenny or just regular house pour wines, they didn't disappoint. i was also lucky to score a table that had a good view of a wide array of games across multiple screens and made claim to it by ordering lunch, dinner and dessert with drinks flowing across stomach filling breaks. having been here over 2 days on a weekend, the crowd were mostly expats from all over the world, south africa, america, scotland and even fiji, folks who simply love their sports! as passionate as they can be about the teams they support, yet ever respectful of others and ever so eager to chat fellow sportstators up! so if you ever need a haven for catching your favourite sports, paddy reilly's is your best bet here in the city!

James Joyce boasts having the "best" burger in town (it's not) and our local friend recommended the place more for drinks, but we chose this anyway since its within walking distance from Widder bar where we came from. The menu reads like a dependable Irish pub fare, but with Zurich prices. GAH! I feel destitute in Zurich. Prices of 25CHF and up for an entree is typical. Fish n chips were deliciously crispy; while the burger has decent moist MMMeat. Alas, the cheese was dried out and burnt on the edges. (I mean, how does one manage to burn cheese?!) Sit outside if the weather permits, because the setting is really inviting with tea light candles and fresh flowers on the table. A glass of Lillet Blanc and a Guiness on tap are excellent end of the night drinks. The friendly service warrants the 4th star, but you should go somewhere else for the best burger in town.

The hotel had been slated for demolition and the bank that was building a place to entertain its out of town clients bought the wood paneling and decorations and shipped it all over to Zurich--crazy! I read about this place in my guide book and it was also recommended by my Zurich resident friend so I had to check it out. From the outside you'd never be able to tell what the interior holds; it has a quite a modern-looking patio and is on a well-heeled side street off the main shipping drag, Bonhofstrasse. It looks like it could be any other upscale bar until you walk inside: lots of dark gleaming yet well-worn wood, intricate tile work, and period paintings. You can take it all in as you sip the beverage of your choice. We weren't hungry enough to sample their food, but from what I could see on the other tables it looked pretty damn good. The bartender was very nice and friendly and the whole place just felt very comfortable. Well worth a visit.

The surrounding buildings all looked fairly modern and new, which was kind of surprising, because I had an image of this area being kind of dumpy. The pub had an old-fashioned look with old-style decorations on the wall, but everything seemed clean and new--which I really liked. I guess it's been a while since I've been in a Zürich pub, because I have bad memories of stale cigarette smoke still lingering in other places right after they instilled the indoor smoking ban. This bar is really spacious and has a lot of different kinds of beer on tap. I had two little glasses of Smithwick's, because my fellow Yelpers told me it's difficult to find this Irish beer elsewhere in Zürich. It's a really good-tasting beer, and I would have downed more, except I had to work the next day. I already had dinner before coming, so I couldn't partake in the tasting-looking menu. The fully-loaded nachos and pot pies and fries looked REALLY yummy. There was a guy named Mel who played the guitar and sang, and he was really good as a one-man band. I think he was supposed to stop at one point because there was a soccer game on tv, but due to popular request, he was able to keep on playing. The staff was really nice and spoke English. It was a bit loud to talk comfortably over the live music, but not impossible to have decent conversations. The only downside was that I didn't see any wall hooks to hang up my winter coat. But other than that, I really liked this place.
