Let me start by saying I am not a regular participant in yoga classes. I decided to try out their…read moreprenatal yoga class when I no longer could comfortably participate in my other workouts like spin classes. I was just beginning my third trimester when I attended a prenatal class, and it was really challenging for me. Some of the poses we were in were pretty much impossible for me because of how swollen my legs were or how heavy my stomach felt. I had to do a lot of modifications. The instructor did come over a few times and assisted with providing alternative poses/stretches, but I felt pretty discouraged since I seemed to be the only one in the room unable to do a lot. I do want to note that I was one of the furthest along in this class, and many of the others were still in various stages of their first and second trimesters. One thing I did find different about this yoga class was that there was no background music, and it was hard for me to drown out the other class going on in the room next door and the traffic on the street outside. Yoga classes I have taken at other places had some very light, soothing background music. I had purchased the deal for new student special for unlimited classes for 21 days, but unfortunately did not return because it just seemed to be too much for my body. I think this may have been different if I was a person that regularly attended yoga classes...

I love how safe and welcome I feel at this studio. I am new to yoga and I appreciate the options…read morethat are given for each pose so I don't feel left out as a beginner. They have plenty of supplies if you don't know what to bring and offer a variety of classes depending on your level. I have left every class feeling relaxed, challenged, and supported. I'm also grateful that they offer an intro pass to let you try before committing to a membership. Would recommend to anybody looking for a yoga studio to call home!

I've been taking Paul Sobin's Continuing Basics series for about 6 months, and this review is…read morepurely about this series. I'm very new to yoga. There are free classes at my school, but I feel like you need a certain level of understanding of the poses before going to those classes. I'm the kind of person that would feel VERY uncomfortable mimicking the poses in class without learning the ABCs first, just for the sake of feeling sore afterwards. I'm also uncomfortable when the teachers talk way too much about their spiritual journey. I respect other people's spirituality, but when it's hovering over the ENTIRE CLASS, it can be very distracting. Paul Sobin solves both of my problem. In the class we would move from pose to pose, but he'd always mention the mistakes easily made. So when I'm doing the pose, even when he's not nearby to correct me, I could still keep in mind what to avoid. He offers a sweet mix of the physical and spiritual practice. For example when we start the slow breathing at the beginning of class, he'd mention how life is always busy and stressful, and it's good to take just a couple minutes to breathe slow and deep to give yourself a bit peace of mind. I really appreciate this. The series are pretty flexible - if you can't make it to the class you signed up for, you can do a make-up with any other series class Paul/ Sommer teach. Whatever leftover classes you haven't used in this series can be carried over to the next one. Students get a discount, which comes to $10 per class. This is quite an investment compared to the free gym, but I'd be happy to skip a weekend drink for this. People seem very nice, chill, and friendly as well. They also offer a week of classes free before the start of the series. The only con I can think of so far: The class can be crowded, to the point that the distance between you and the next mat is half a mat's width. Come 10 mins early to secure a good spot.

He really knows how all of your muscles work together and how to deal with any issue you are having from multiple angles. As a cyclist and runner, his massages have been a lifesaver! One reason I love appointments with Christopher is that he will work on any issues I'm having during my massage and afterwards give me explanations of the problem and stretches to do as homework. It's not just about the massage - he teaches you how to take care of yourself, too. I 100% recommend Vigor + Vim!

I had my first time session with Chris this past Tuesday and was impressed with his knowledge,…read moreprofessionalism, technique and added value. I arrived to the appointment 10 minutes early and Chris was there with an intake form waiting for me and a cup of water. I filled out the form and Chris looked it over and asked me pertinent questions relating to my health and body history. We chatted about my goals for receiving bodywork. I'm an avid cyclist, runner and soccer player, which Chris was able to relate to and he was very familiar with the areas that I requested the session focus on. It was a cold, rainy day, so the heated massage table and heated packs he placed on my body were a welcomed added bonus. Chris let me know that he tends to be quiet when he works, but feel feel free to ask questions anytime. The massage was transcending. Chris truly has a passion and level of care that I haven't experienced with other practitioners. I lost track of all time and left the Vigor + Vim ready to relax the day away. Chris recommended that I take 12 hours away from exercise and to drink lots of fluids. He even showed me a couple new stretches afterward in the foyer that would help work some of my problem areas. I'm definitely looking forward to my next session and wholeheartedly recommend Chris Grohs and Vigor + Vim. His studio is in a great historic house converted into multiple offices and professional practices. Easy to find. Central location downtown and plenty of parking.
