They have a couple of large parking lots there to stash your vehicle while visiting. One of the main entrances is right past one of the Tinley Park fire stations. Many paved trails to walk around the lake, with a high route and a low route to vary up the scenery. On the high elevation they have a number of picnic tables and the like for those that want to have a meal. They also have a large playground there for the kids to keep busy while the parents chill. The lower route is mainly for jogging and walking ... although you'll find a lot of bikes in the area also. At the other end you'll find baseball and soccer fields, skateboard, and basketball too. They also have a little dock off which you can fish. Be forewarned - no dogs allowed, which is good for some people and not so much for others. This is a sort of difficult kind of place to find, but that keeps it a treasure.

I really enjoyed my evening out it was restful and gave me a sense of calm even though this is in the the middle of a really busy suburb. Didn't hear any cars, horns, sirens or anything like that. Centennial Park in Orland Park consist of soccer fields, baseball fields, softball…read morefields, a wonderful park or all kids, the Orland park pool, walking/running trails, batting cages, a dog park, a stage, and an outdoor ice rink. It is truly an amazing place weather you are the for sports, to go on a walk or run, to skate during the winter season, to boat or fish in the lake, swim during a hot day, watch a concert, or take your kids to the wonderful park. I would totally recommend this complex for all listed things I can think of.

Pool and entire aquatic experiance is great but they need to do something about their drowning…read moreprotocol because a life guard decided to jump in and "save" my younger brother when he was just getting up for air after a jump. I kid you not the life guard was watching him as well and all he did was jump in the deep end of the pool, he was coming up for air and they blew their whistle and jumped in to, again, "save" him when he didn't need saving at all. They put him in unwanted distress and embarrassed him, made him cry because he was coming up for air. Thankfully there were other lifeguards around who understood the situation and assured us nothing was wrong but what happened was just ridiculous.

This is not a good playground for small children as most of it is tailored toward Kids not toddlers and the slides that are there are too quick and somewhat dangerous for small little ones. The park is decorated "freedom" style as the name suggests and has real sized piece of a train and tank for decoration along with everything being red white and blue. A big downside is it was littered with trash- water bottles, fast food cups, fast food bags, straws- it was a mess all over especially around the playground

Nice long ramp that leads up to the slides plenty of room for the kids to run. A little bit of tree cover (shade can be an issue) but, not a ton. Really close to the street (not a very busy one) and the kids aren't exactly "corralled" in. Neither of these are enough of a concern to avoid it. Check it out.

This is a great gathering place all year long . Today was a fire and ice event. As I walked in the…read morepark area I was greeted with a big gas fed bonfire . The stage had blocks of ice ready to be transformed into clever and stunning art . The setup in the small parking lot flowed smoothly . Great job by all the restaurants that participating in the chili cook-off . The samples were so diverse , who knew chili could be so different ? Hot chocolate was available at the front and s'mores trimmings in a baggy was being distributed by local police in the back . Small wood burning fire pits were putting out the heat to toast those marshmallows . There was a very well built bags board game from ice . It was fast and slick , the challenge was fun. Two other Photo Op ice pieces were in the lot and on the stage . The event ran from Noon until 3:00 . Just the right amount of time to sample ten specialty chili's and vote for your favorite . We stayed for the award ceremony , three trophy's we're given out . The people voted fat Rosie's as the best. If you missed it try restaurant week during Feb 17 - 27 . Although the fire and ice event will remain very special to me and my fiancee . The outdoor dance in the brisk weather with radiant heat from the bonfire was epic . And thanks to the little girl who took our picture. Great community spirit during less social times .

Breidert Green is the heart of Frankfort and many of its activities. Depending on the time of…read moreyear, there are so many diverse actitivities that occur here. There are Sunday concerts in the summer and Arts and Crafts fairs in the fall. There are ice sculpting events, chili cook offs, runs and out door movies. The Green is maintained beautifully with the stage set inside a replica of the former train station. It is located along the Old Plank Trail which runs on the old railroad path. There is even a magnificent public washroom which is always spanking clean. If you come to Frankfort, you will probably see the Green. It is at its best in the summer bloom or under the sparkling holidays lights. I just love it, however corny that sounds!

I am not a dog owner but I really like living in a town with a dog park, I think it's a great idea…read more That way the dogs can run free in an area where they won't scare children or startle bikers or joggers. I wish everyone in Frankfort would use the dog park instead of the Plank Trail as that would keep the Trail free of dog poo. That would be good for everyone else on the Trail and the dogs would be happy also. It is easy to register, pay the nominal fee and get a key card at the Park District office. Since I'm a dog dad now I've been scouting the suburbs for the perfect place to relocate and raise…read moremy pup. Just kidding. That will never be me. Frankfort IS a hell of a lot more appealing since this park is there though. $50 and proof of your pup's shots gets you a year long membership. Included in that is private access to a massive enclosure that's all soft grass. There's shaded areas, free poop bags, and a time out section if your dog gets a little too excited to be frolicking out in the sun. It's honestly my dog's favorite place to play, and I don't even mind driving about 45 minutes from the city to do so.
