It has bathrooms that i've never seen been opened in my life so there's probably a port-o-potty that's probably already tipped over. There's a giant sheltered gazebo that can seat up to 100 people. This place has always had a special place in my heart for how many good times I have had here with family and friends over the years. We always end up seeing some kind of nature, whether it's deer, chipmunks, squirrels, fish, frogs, turtles, etc. There is always something new to see. Over my years of coming here it has grown to have larger building with more interactive things for people of all ages. Trails are well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back for more hiking soon. Dedicated to my loving father, who taught me if you stop, stand still, and are very quiet in nature you will probably end up seeing nature reveal herself to you.

One can explore the old Nature Center with historical facts or the new Nature Center with a kid's play area and animal exhibit. The snapping turtles were an absolute hit with my niece and nephews! Outside, there are two owls and a hawk as well as two nature trails and some kid's activities. Each trail is maybe 0.5 miles and 1.3 miles which is perfect for kids. Along the trails, be sure to stop at the lookouts to enjoy the views. They even have short peeking slots for the kids. I had the best time visiting Little Red Schoolhouse and seeing all their updates from when I last visited as a kid. Highly recommend for all!

The bathrooms were clean; the park itself was clean and free of lose trash and debris; there were plenty of benches to enjoy the scenery and to relax; and paved walk ways to take a leisure stroll and enjoy the tree-lined Olympia Fields streets. The park is large enough to not feel like people in various areas are to close or infringing on your space. There is also a covered picnic shelter which is good if you want to rent the park for family events and such. I also like the wide flat area so that you can let the kids run free or you could have structured games for your events. It's definitely one of the better parks in Olympia Fields.

There is a…read morevery nice covered shelter that one can use for parties or picnics or family get-togethers, but remember that you must reserve the space with the Cook County Forest Preserve peeps. Don't just show up and assume it's first-come-first-served ... it isn't. It is a reserved space. There is enough room to play catch and maybe hit the ball around, but essentially you have to bring in to the park any amusement you seek - they really don't offer any extras. One day, maybe the Cook County Forest Preserve chiefs will cut a few walking/jogging/hiking trails through the area - that would be a nice and easy-to-add extra. This little preserve is a stand-alone operation with a parking lot. If you are looking for Tampier Lake - it is about a block away across the street ... that is where you get boats and the like. There is none of that here. But with all that said, this was a nice little hideaway. Try it.
