    Chips guacamole and mojo sauce

I really love Mojo Taco! The Guacamole is my favorite! The mojo sauce is really good too. Everything is fresh and comes out pretty fast. I usually order the chicken quesadillas. The tacos are also very good! If I'm driving by and have already eaten I will stop in and order chips guacamole with salsa and mojo sauce for later!!

While I love food trucks, I was initially hesitant to try it, but after numerous co-workers and friends ranted how amazing and affordable it was I finally broke down and ordered lunch. My lunch was delicious! I ordered the chicken teriyaki with white rice; fried rice is an option also for no additional cost. The chicken was cooked and seasoned very well, came with a zucchini, carrot, onion mixture also. A side of Yum Yum sauce is included and this is definitely YUMMY! The amount of food in this order far exceeded my expectations and would be enough for two average eaters to share. All this only cost $7.55!! I also tried an order of their spring rolls where were lightly fried and was very pleased with them. Additional menu items include combinations plates, which a co-worker tried the shrimp and chicken and it was loaded with large pieces of shrimp. After this first visit I'm looking forward to ordering from there again and I recommend this as a great stop for hibachi food in a quick serve food truck format!

Even with the huge crowd, Traveling J's was running like a well-oiled machine. Two people--just a chef and a cashier--were absolutely cranking out orders while still keeping the line moving fast. Impressive! We narrowed our choices down to two items to split - Gourmet Grilled Cheese + Garlic Cilantro Fries (upgrade) and Hummus with carrots & cucumbers. Add two cold drinks and our total came to $28.62. Not bad considering the generous portions. When we opened our to-go boxes, we were seriously impressed. The hummus was smooth and creamy, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with spices. The fries were crispy (not soggy!) with just the right kick of garlic and cilantro. And the grilled cheese? Perfectly toasted, melty, and stuffed with sweet, crispy bacon. Cheese was oozing, bread was golden, and it was everything a grilled cheese should be--and then some. The portions were more than enough for two hungry adults, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I even made sure to compliment the chef--he looked like he'd been hustling nonstop to keep up with the crowd, and it showed in the quality. Next time, I've got my eye on their fried Halloumi cheese. It looked AMAZING coming out of that truck. Bottom line: Fresh, flavorful, filling, and run by a hardworking duo who know what they're doing. Traveling J's is officially on my "must-eat-again" list.

And, the platters are enough for two small eaters or one larger eater (with a few leftovers). The chicken was very good, the Gyro meat was as expected (I would have liked mine with more of a "char"), and the falafels were well seasoned with a crispy outside (and not greasy at all). I ordered mine with all the goodies to see how all the toppings blend together. I also had the white sauce and the hot sauce. It all worked well together. The wait was longer than expected but they did have a constant stream of customers and they were making things as they were ordered. Definitely worth a stop. Make it the last stop on your way home because you'll probably be taking something home. I didn't try the fries but there were people coming just for the fries and one of the sauces. I'll have to try that as a snack the next time I'm feeling snacky. The prices are decent. A can of soda was about $1.50. The large platter was about $12. You can eat a decent meal for about $15. Which is better than fast food and the flavors are so much more interesting. Now that I'm writing this, I'm craving some. I might need to see if they're around.

Unfortunately, my adventure schedule and Lucky Penny's event schedule never seemed to cooperate. Until one Friday evening, and Friday nights are well-known as Friday Night Date Night so this seemed like serendipity! I saw that AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union was celebrating America's 250th Anniversary by partnering with Lucky Penny Burger Company for a voucher-only community event. Best of all, you didn't even have to be a credit union member to participate. I swung by an AmeriChoice branch, picked up vouchers for my Adventure Buddy and me and suddenly my long-awaited Lucky Penny adventure was officially on the calendar! On a beautiful Friday evening, we headed to the food truck for our weekly Friday Night Date Night. Even though the event was busy, the Lucky Penny crew couldn't have been friendlier. They took our order, answered a couple of questions and had our food ready surprisingly quickly considering the line. For my meal, I ordered the Lucky Penny Burger, swapping cheddar for the standard American cheese. It came topped with bacon, lettuce, crispy fried onions and their signature Lucky Penny sauce. My Adventure Buddy chose the Copperhead Burger, featuring pepper jack cheese, jalapeño popper spread, lettuce and homemade candied jalapeños. For our sides, we split things up. Regular fries for my Adventure Buddy. Garlic Parmesan Fries for me. And let me just say...that upgrade was the correct life decision! The Lucky Penny Burger was fantastic! Everything worked together beautifully, but the real star was the signature Lucky Penny sauce. It tied the entire burger together without overpowering everything else, and I'd happily order that burger again tomorrow. My Adventure Buddy gave equally enthusiastic reviews of the Copperhead Burger, especially the homemade candied jalapeños, which added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. Then there were the Garlic Parmesan Fries. Garlic butter. Garlic aioli. Parmesan cheese. Parsley. What's not to love? They were crispy, flavorful and disappeared much faster than I'd care to admit! Overall, Lucky Penny Burger Company absolutely lived up to the hype I'd built up in my head over the past couple of years. Great food, friendly people and a smooth operation even during a busy community event. I'll also give a shoutout to AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union for putting together such a fun community event! It's always nice to see local organizations partnering with local small businesses, and this was a fantastic excuse to finally experience a food truck that had been on my must-try list for far too long! Now that my adventure schedule has finally crossed paths with Lucky Penny's once...I'll definitely be keeping an eye on their social media so we can make it happen again.

I'd spotted their truck at community festivals and events more times than I can count, but every single time there was a line...and every single time my impatience won. Until one beautiful Friday evening in July. For the first time ever, Soul Lotta Empanadas and I found ourselves in the same place without a crowd standing between us. This was my moment! The hardest part wasn't waiting. It was deciding what to order. Their menu is packed with creative empanadas and, if I'm being honest, I wanted approximately all of them. After a solid internal debate, I landed on the Crab Rangoon Empanada, the Cheesesteak Empanada and a cup of their Street Corn, mostly because I saw someone else walking around with it and immediately developed food envy. A few minutes later, I was handed my basket of empanadas and my cup of street corn. I was absolutely starving, so naturally the Crab Rangoon Empanada got first dibs. And it absolutely lived up to the hype I'd built up in my head! The filling was rich, creamy and packed with flavor. Everything I love about crab rangoon was there, just wrapped inside a perfectly fried empanada instead of a tiny wonton. Honestly, this might be my preferred crab rangoon delivery system now. Why eat eight little rangoons when you can eat one giant one? The Cheesesteak Empanada was just as generously stuffed. Plenty of flavorful filling, plenty of cheese and another excellent choice. If I had to order again tomorrow, I'd happily get either one without hesitation! Then there was the street corn. It was a little different than what I'm used to, leaning more tangy and bright than rich and creamy, but I actually really enjoyed that! It was topped with crushed Cheetos, which honestly made me smile before I even took the first bite. It also made one thing very clear...I had ordered entirely too much food. The empanadas disappeared, but the street corn came home with me. And sometime around the middle of the night, I found myself standing in my kitchen finishing it cold and straight from the cup like a feral raccoon. No regrets! If you see Soul Lotta Empanadas at a festival and there's a line, wait. Trust me! I spent way too long letting long lines scare me away, and now I know they were worth waiting in all along. My only problem now? I've got my eye on those Apple Cobbler dessert empanadas. Looks like I'm going to have to track this food truck down again before summer ends. And this time...I'm ordering dessert first!
