I had always wondered what it was like to get a facial, and I'm SO GLAD a friend recommended I go see Emily at Sanctuary Skin (and now I see Emily every month and have been for the past couple of years!). Emily is super welcoming, kind, understanding, and helpful - I distinctly remember during my first facial she asked "Do you want me to walk you through what I'm doing?" and I said yes and she explained in such a way that made me feel good and safe. I feel no judgement coming to see Emily; a true GEM of a human! In terms of the facial itself: it's amazing to get your face pampered for a little over an hour. I get the Signature Facial and since Emily knows me/my skin so well, she makes every facial specific to what my skin is going through or needs. She is highly skilled and uses quality products. This review is long overdue! Let me start off by saying Emily is amazing! She's a great person who deeply cares about her clients as humans, and their needs. To me, that is SUPER important when it comes to business. I came across her page off of Instagram after a mutual friend raved about Sanctuary Skin on their story. After going to EWC for several years I decided to give Emily a try. I've gotten two Brazilians (while pregnant) when her place was open for a short period of time before COVID closed everything down again. Both times they were awesome, and she tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible. All the products she uses are so much better than places like European Wax Center or salons that "do it all". She carefully researches and takes the time to choose her brands and products, whether their woman owned, environmentally friendly, all natural ingredients, or BIPOC owned, etc. Thats something that I also love. I've been waxed by Emily a few times now and will probably only go to her for the rest of my life. I have thick body hair, like 2-3 hairs a follicle and usually am treated insensitively and without care when I've been waxed in the past. With Emily, she never has made me feel weird or uncomfortable. It takes a bit longer to wax my legs since my hair grows thick and she has made the adjustments in such a seamless and empathetic way. Scheduling more time for me without my having to ask and always suggesting kinder words when I have described my hair growth In a negative manner.
