One was spotted and I just had to ask if she would let me pet them and she did. I LOVE baby farm animals. Especially piglets. I mean.... Ugh their little noses and faces. I just wanna squeeze them and put their little pig nose in my mouth and kiss the little wrinkles above the nose. The woman was so nice explaining their sanctuary and how they rescue and have a whole bunch of animals they take care of. Not eating land animals, I already know certain things about pigs like how there is no such thing as a mini-pig. They had goats there and I even got to pet a 13 day old pink piglet. It still had soft hairs. Could have spent all day here, petting pigs. They sold some natural body cream, candles, treats, and soaps. Their soaps smelled sooooo good! I bought couple ($6/each) to support. Maybe one day I can visit the farm!

The same group that used to be at the Hollywood Farmers Market is now at the one by the Grove. (I…read moretried to update the old listing, but yelp hasn't changed it yet). They are on hiatus from vegan cheese right now, but their chocolates are amazing. They sell mugs, tote bags, embroidered hand towels, earrings, and their famous vegan soaps and candles. They usually bring some of their rescue animals with them - lately Kaboom the pigmy goat, Edgar Allan Pig, and a few baby goats (they rescued their moms from a dairy that was going to put them down, they rescued them not knowing they were pregnant and now they have baby goats!). There are over 250 animals at their sanctuary. They come down four days a week to sell vegan products to support the animals. They're usually right outside of Kip's toys.

I just got off the phone with the main person who called me. She hung up on the phone with me after…read moreI told her that my uncle passed away carrying canisters of water for a month with no one coming out from either Shelby well pumps or from them. Shelby is overbooked but At least they came to see the problem. We went to Mojave in desperation by referral of Shelby as they are so backed up. This was a very vulnerable thing for me to express my uncle's passing and the troubles we are having. It's not something I've blasted to everyone but rather have only told a few in confidence. My grandma did have me ask the Facebook community for help but they have so many complicated issues, no one has really been responsive. When I express that someone had texted me "k sorry" when I had no idea it was her and she personalized it--even when I'm sitting there trying to express "hey, we're in a lot of trouble here and someone is texting me 'k sorry'" and it's like yea, please help us. People are dying and it's not dramatic, it's real that my grandma is out of breath and out the door behind my uncle for the same reason. She said that it was not related, that they are a service and they are not responsible for our personal lives, and hung up on me--even though not having water is what is contributing to the death of our family. My uncle couldn't breathe or lift anything heavy and he was forced to carry water all around the property until someone came. And no one did. In the same vein now, my grandma has an inhaler and is carrying water all around her house just to flush the toilets with ulcerative colitis with no one to come and help her. Guess we'll have to wait two more weeks and see who will come--obviously not the person who hung up on me. "K sorry. We're not responsible." Just a disclaimer, well drillers. It's your responsibility to weigh out and prioritize who needs the most help. It's also your job in this business to have customer service and if someone tells you something personal or doesn't understand a response, instead of personalizing it you try to see it from the customer's perspective. I hope you learn how to run a proper business one day. It was very gracious of Jean Luc of Shelby Wells to refer you when he could not complete the job and you shot yourself in the foot.

Every year around the holidays I would find myself in a funk. I have been called a scrooge on many…read moreoccasions. I felt bad for my three adult children that had to grow up that way, and was wanting to change it for my son. Christmas just wasn't about just being together, it seemed it was more about what you can buy for everyone. The stress of all the money going out at one time just wasn't enjoyable for me. I decided this year it was not going to be like this anymore and we are going to do for others now and through the year. So I met with Sandy Chavez who is the coordinator for the Salvation Army. I explained my feelings and I wanted my son to see what its like to give instead of receive. Sandy understood and invited us to volunteer anytime we wanted with the Fresh Rescue program. Five of my family members showed up at 8:30 and immediately got to work on the senior sack side. The "Senior Sack" program is the second and fourth Monday of the month. They put 60-70 sacks together for the local senior citizens. We had a great assembly line going and before long we had made all the bags. Marta then laid down table cloths, put out fresh brewed coffee, and pistachio bread for the seniors when they picked up their food. My son and I moved over to the other side of the building and helped handout produce to about 50 people in need. All the volunteers we met were so nice. Many have been involved with Salvation Army for years. We noticed that is how the Salvation Army thrives, through all the help from the volunteers. Luckily the community we live in, is a very giving community. When the Salvation Army asks for help with coats, toys, or food, they often get so much in return. I was told people come in sad, depressed, or there for community service, and start volunteering. It completely transforms them. It is a powerful thing to help someone in need. When you walk out of the grocery store and you see the red kettles and the person ringing the bell. That money goes to the turkeys for the Thanksgiving baskets. In 2019 they were able to buy over 300 turkeys, all at full price. This location has an after school program for the kids in our area. I haven't learned enough information to write about it. But you can call and they will be more than happy to give you all the information you need. My son said he really enjoyed helping out today and wants to continue doing this. Now that really makes my heart happy.
