Hanna and Elle are outstanding florists and wonderful people to work with. My vision of flowers was was "pretty and lavender" and they took that and ran with it. My ceremony was originally meant to be outside but as the day got closer and the weather turned, Hanna made sure to be in touch with me and easily adjusted to doing the ceremony inside. Walking into the venue and seeing their work was incredible. The ceremony area was beautiful, the bud vases on the tables and along the mantels were so pretty and so perfect, me and my guests absolutely loved every detail. Hanna delivered the flowers to Beardslee, spent the afternoon setting up, and made sure to see me to give me and the bridesmaids our bouquets (which were STUNNING). From the initial consult all the way through to the wedding, she answered my questions, listened to my vision, and was all around amazing to work with. 2 days before arriving in Cooperstown for a Bed & Brews weekend at the Inn at Cooperstown, I decided that I wanted to surprise my wife with flowers on Valentine's Day and a balloon bouquet for her Birthday the next day. After getting a recommendation from one of the Innkeepers, Sherrie, I reached out to Mohican Flowers to see if they could help me pull it off. Not only was Penny so VERY helpful in suggesting the variety of roses and balloon options, she was also able to coordinate 2 separate (and sneaky) deliveries across 2 different days. The gorgeous roses (see photo) arrived at the Inn in plenty of time for the staff to have them placed in our room so my wife was surprised when we first entered the room. On the very next day, the amazing team at Mohican snuck the Birthday balloon bouquet to the Innkeepers, who then delivered and placed them on the table at Ommegang for our private beer dinner later in the evening. I worked with Mohican Flowers for my wedding on May 30, 2015. Once my husband and I had settled on getting married at The Otesaga Hotel, I began to look for local florist options. I live in Manhattan and briefly considered hiring someone from the city, but the prices and logistical stress of getting fresh flowers delivered the day of the wedding quickly deterred me. I intended to meet with each of the few florists in town, but once I met with Claire at Mohican Flowers, I decided to look no further. This is literally the only aspect of my wedding where I didn't look at many options before deciding; the simple reason is that Claire and the whole team at Mohican are the kindest and most attentive people you could hope to work with during your wedding. This was obvious from day 1 and remained true throughout the planning process. I first met with Claire to discuss my general decoration ideas about 1 year before the wedding. At that point, I was just giving a lot of descriptive words and phrases ('rustic with refined elements') with a few specific flowers I knew I wanted to incorporate (i.e. peonies and apple blossoms). I returned about 3 months later and she was ready with some samples and ideas based on our previous conversation. She had reviewed my 'wedding flowers' pinterest board that I'd told her about, and even brought an iPad to the table to show me which pictures she'd drawn inspiration from. We didn't meet again until the week of my wedding, so we corresponded as needed by email (she always replied within 24-48h). The cost associated with each decision was clearly itemized, so I always knew where I stood with our budget. She also called about 2 weeks before the wedding to confirm everything just before placing the flower order. There were many other little things that made the planning process delightful and easy, but may be unique to my situation so I won't list them here. The first time I saw Claire's finished product was when I walked into the ballroom just before heading out to the balcony to walk down the aisle. Nothing could have made me happier! She had executed my dream wedding decor with every detail tucked in and polished. I was and remain so grateful for the beauty her efforts brought to our wedding day. As you consider various vendors for your wedding, the emphasis is most definitely on the finished product that you'll be buying. But these individuals are also going to be who you interact with most in the days and months leading up to your wedding. Their personalities can either encourage you or make it difficult to enjoy the process. With this in mind, I give my strongest recommendation to Mohican Flowers and Claire for any wedding. You will have a beautifully decorated event and, in the process, enjoy the pleasure of meeting a delightful group of coworkers. read more

It really is as good as it gets. This place is wonderful....the girls are so helpful.

First off, I have seen a gentleman delivery driver of this company speeding around town, tailgating, and not fully complying with stop or yield signs. I've noticed this a handful of times in just the past month or so. Secondly, the point of sending flowers is to surprise the recipient. When ordering online there is no apparent notification that they will absolutely be calling the recipient to schedule delivery. There is a request for the recipient's phone number, but I never dreamed that they would call and say (word for word in the voicemail) "yea you have flowers and I want to know if you want them delivered and when that can happen." Surprise right out the window. If there was notice that this was practice and that they would not deliver unless they could confirm someone would be at said location- I would have gone elsewhere. Many other places do not practice this sort of "customer service and satisfaction behind our convenience" policy. Additionally, when I realized that my Stepmother had in fact gotten a call about the flowers I was sending her it was after 5:00 pm that her phone registered the voice mail. One voice mail. I called to see why the delivery hadn't happened and they were instantly defensive and didn't care a lick about my being upset. Customer service? Not. They had excuses and stated that the driver "had tried to get in touch with you all day." One voice mail does not "all day" make. My Stepmother had, in fact, been home all day. Soon after my phone call to them, they called her. In the window over the kitchen sink, on speakerphone, is the only way her phone even registers a call or text. She answered and the woman, Carol, began interrogating my Stepmother about why she hadn't picked up her phone or returned the call. When she stated she doesn't get great reception at home they simply said "well we have been calling all day." Untrue. I was standing right there. Then Carol asked if the flowers could be delivered the next day. The response was "Yes that is fine, I am up early and will be here all day. Any time is fine for delivery." The woman said they call to ensure someone will be there, to which my Stepmother replied "Remember I just told you, I do not get great reception here and the call will likely be missed. I am up early and will be here all day. I am saying it is OK to deliver the flowers any time tomorrow." End of story? No. The next morning my Stepmother calls to say "I got a voicemail from them- not sure when they called because my crappy cell phone just stated it was there. They are asking when to schedule delivery! Didn't I go through this with them last night?!" She was frustrated, and rightfully so. She'd had a surgical procedure and gave us quite a scare which is why the flowers were ordered in the first place. Now she had them trying to schedule delivery again after she ensured them that she would be "up early and home all day." I call to cancel the order. A nice woman (who's name escapes me, but she was polite, apologetic, and seemed to care about positive customer service) stated I had to speak with Carol. Well here it goes. Carol gets on the phone and I try to politely explain things and she is up in arms in a heartbeat stating the flowers are on the way, they have to do this, they have to do that, blah blah blah, this is a rural area (like I don't know that by living here)..... And the kicker is I get their point. I understand it, all that had to be done was to notify the CONSUMER upon time of ordering that delivery was not going to happen until they called the recipient to schedule delivery. And I would have gone elsewhere. But I received no apology (aside from the nice receptionist), and got such attitude that I will not ever order from them again. A positive note- my Stepmother said that the flowers were very pretty and very skillfully arranged. Once she got them. I dislike giving bad reviews and it is not in my habit to do so but the lack of customer service and regard to the thought of the recipient drove me to write this. AND the fact that the delivery guy drives like he is the only one on the road. I'll definitely call the police on him next time I see him run a stop sign or tailgate a school bus. Drivers are sometimes a first impression to a company and I should have listened to my first instinct. read more
